April 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Aboideau. I noticed that you recently removed content from Lemn Sissay without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. aboideautalk 14:58, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Lemn Sissay, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. aboideautalk 15:16, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lucy Parsons[edit]

The edit you just made to the article introduces an inaccuracy. Her ethnicity is not "disputed". She perpetuated a falsehood about her background during her lifetime (no judgment - she wasn't exactly operating in a racially-friendly environment), but recent research shows she was half-black, the daughter of an enslaved black woman. ♠PMC(talk) 15:53, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, side note, please don't mark edits as minor unless they're something like typo/formatting correction, slight rewording, or reverting vandalism. Anything that makes changes to the meaning of the text should be left marked as a major edit. ♠PMC(talk) 16:04, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mildred Aldrich, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Battle of the Marne. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:54, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:52, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Standard ArbCom discretionary sanctions notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in gender-related disputes or controversies or in people associated with them. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

October 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Tillie Klimek. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Greyjoy talk 01:41, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I did indeed look for the information elsewhere - I take your point, and would never remove a link if it could be repaired! Corsaire5555 (talk) 11:05, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
