More suggestions for getting started quickly[edit]

Hi again, Chloe. More personal this time rather than just those templates.

Expect to hear from SarahStierch very soon. She's hyper-wikipediactive, already involved with GLAM and encouraging more women to edit Wikipedia. She's author of the Smthsonian Institute Archives page to which I referred you as an example/model. Any tough questions or problems, she knows where to find the answer if she doesn't aleady know it.

The beauty of the Commons-Attribution-Share_Alike license is that you don't have to create from scratch. Existing GLAM pages provide a structure and format. As a courtesy, you can include a hidden comment <!-- Format and code copied from WP:GLAM/SIA --> to specifically credit the source. Consistent structure and format helps others navigate through Wikipedia. In Wikipedia, using formats created by others is helpful to all rather than illegal plagurism.

When you need a break from your work on the GLAM project and biographies, have a bit of FUN(<-click on it). A veteran editor, Pluma, wrote the page for his adoptees. Creating your userpage is good practice in editing. I suspect you'll learn from it.

For now, take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 20:28, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

A belated welcome![edit]

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm! Face-smile.svg

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Craub. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Skamecrazy123 (talk) 13:00, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

GLAM project pages[edit]

I'd be happy to help you set up a structure for your GLAM project. You don't need special permission, but (in my opinion) you need to scale your goals to suit the number of editors who are willing to join in.

I'll drop you an email and we can sort out exactly what tabs you want, and what colors, etc. I mostly have time to work on the weekends. - PKM (talk) 04:30, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sarah Paxton Ball Dodson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Miniature painting (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Museum hacks and museum edits[edit]

Hello there!

Upcoming events:

  • February 6–8: The third annual ArtBytes Hackathon at the Walters Art Museum! This year Wikimedia DC is partnering with the Walters for a hack-a-thon at the intersection of art and technology, and I would like to see Wikimedia well represented.
  • February 11: The monthly WikiSalon, same place as usual. RSVP on Meetup or just show up!
  • February 15: Wiki Loves Small Museums in Ocean City. Mary Mark Ockerbloom, with support from Wikimedia DC, will be leading a workshop at the Small Museum Association Conference on how they can contribute to Wikipedia. Tons of representatives from GLAM institutions will be present, and we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out, check out "Information for Volunteers".

I am also pleased to announce events for Wikimedia DC Black History Month with Howard University and NPR. Details on those events soon.

If you have any questions or have any requests, please email me at james.hare@wikimediadc.org.

See you there! – James Hare
