Circle redirect[edit]

I think we crossed paths there. The article should be at Novak Djokovic, and the other location should be a redirect. Please ask me if you've got any questions about that. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Algorithm[edit]

The algorithm article has numerous Harvard style; it's surprising that you tagged it as lacking in-text citations. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed Matthew Glennon (talk) 19:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry about it; Harvard refs aren't so common, and it's easy to think that the lack of a footnotes section means there are no inline citations. Especially in math and science articles, it helps to read through the article to get a sense of what referencing style is being used. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:16, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, the recent edit you made to White gold has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. I added a [citation needed] citation to another statement? I fail to see how it was unconstructive? Matthew Glennon(Talk) 09:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
My apologies. I meant to revert the addition of that section and must have caught you instead. I have fixed up the article now. I didn't intend to warn you, I meant to warn the person who added the content and I thought it was you. Again, sorry about that. James086Talk | Email 09:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

The page on Star Boxing and also Joe DeGuardia who is the CEO of Star Boxing, you nominated for deletion stating it looks as though it is direct advertising of the company. I feel it is simply stating facts about the company and if you look at some of the other boxing companies, ie. Top Rank, it is pretty much exactly the same format and there page is fine. I don't understand? Can you please reconsider. [Kevin Rooney] —Preceding unsigned comment added by JDstarboxing (talkcontribs) 15:21, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Yo Crazysance, I'm not sure what you meant here, but articles only need {{rescue}} when they are nominated for deletion. If you just want to draw attention to an article needing serious improvement, you might want to use WP:ICU instead. Regards, the skomorokh 18:59, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Dams[edit]

Hi. Thanks for the praise. Yes covering rural Japan in such a way is highly attractive I think rather than the usual city basis we seme to have. Fascinating country. If I understood Japanese I would try to expand some of the them. I actually came across them by accident when I was stub sorting Category:Asian dam building and structure stubs and saw the huge content that was missing from Japan with only 12 dams. So I created a stub category for Japanese dams and filled it over 60 and it went from there. I've now worked out neough to add some basic facts from ajapanese wiki which should be of some initial use. Just getting started though see Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan/Dam templates. Will get them all up and running in a few weeks I guess. Regards The Bald One White cat 13:18, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up. My articles are usually automatically patrolled by JVBot within a minute or two of creating it as I am on the "elite" list of articles creators which don't need the usual patorlling. Leave them a minute or two and there should be marked off by the bot. The Bald One White cat 13:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Good to know. Thx. -- Matthew Glennon(Talk to me) 14:07, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Small world. I;ve just noticed that you were going to delete the awfully short original Egyptian Geological Museum currently on main page. Sorry that was sub stubbed during one of my BlofeldBot sessions and given my committements hadn't got around to expanding them, only one of two. They should be notable but just need expansion! I was hoping WP:Egypt would take them on board The Bald One White cat 14:00, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes as you can see I'm all over wikipedia trying to improve coverage. If there wasn't so much missing or so many incredibly under developed areas in comparison to other areas, I would concentrate on writing articles to GA standard. However "planting seeds" is a very productive way at developing wikipedia and encouraging other users to help build the articles I create, with quite some success so far. I;ve always thought that "if you build they come" and that goes for attracting google users to wikipedia and joinning in the building. An example of this diversity is anything from Agriculture in Mongolia or Yak racing to articles as diverse as Oruro Symphony Orchestra and Zayouna today!! I'm back on the Jap dams again for the mo, probably will stub some 1965 Italian films or the Chihuahua municipalities later. The Bald One White cat 14:21, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

In response to my user page, it was vandalized by an IP, I think a sock of Phenomenon8980, regarding an inappropriate email sent to him by a fellow editor regarding a previous conflict. I haven't had any contact with Phenom in a while, mostly because the administrators were handling the conflict. While I appreciated the concern, I reminded the other editor that harrassing emails were inappropriate. Hope that clears it up :) Rm994 (talk) 16:37, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Help on creating article to Wiki standards[edit]

Help on creating article to Wiki standards [2]

Mathew, Our article has been targeted for deletion, we understand that you cannot have pages out there without foundation.

However WE DO have the expertise and foundation to make a strong and comparative case for this topic. both of us TSquark and I have over 50 years combined experience in the technical analysis of the financial markets.

We currently appear to be locked out or do not understand the process for uploading images- a major part of our case. We have tried countless times to do so, but the upload appears to do nothing and returns no error message.

Our own images and those in which we have permission to republish are not being uploaded.

i.e. [3] (Above). [ShadowStats.com] gives you permission to re-publish the charts shown below, subject to the following conditions. If these conditions prove to onerous for your purposes, please contact us to discuss other options. …… cont.

We are not opposed to having this wiki page hidden until it is crafted correctly. But again the learning curve is holding us back from figuring it out.

WE NEED HELP ON THIS. Who do we communicate with in order to have assistance?

We are hoping that you will take several moments to point us in the correct direction. Many of the wiki instruction page suffer from too much detail that is not obvious to the novice wiki page maker..

Cecil Rhodes and User:82.46.19.182[edit]

Hi. Regarding this edit, which edit are you referring to? Is it this one?

If so, it's good of you to be polite and WP:AGF, but on the other hand, if it was a genuine attempt by that editor to be a useful edit, the fact that it has a spelling error in it is probably the least important problem. If this editor wants to be helped, it would be more useful to point out the major problems (and there are several) with the edit; to mention only one minor problem may mislead them into thinking that otherwise, the edit is OK. Also, reminding them to check their "spelling and grammer before updateing a page" is somewhat counterproductive, given that you don't seem to have checked yours.

That all sounds terribly negative. Sorry, that's not my intention. Perhaps I can soften it by saying, good work with spotting the bad edit and and commenting on it so diplomatically. Best wishes, Pdfpdf (talk) 02:40, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Dann Read Page Speedy Deletion[edit]

Hi there, I saw that you had tagged the page about Dann Read for speedy deletion due to copyright infringement however that is not the case as the piece on him and those details were written by his best friend and former business partner Greg Lambert (who also has a profile on Wiki)specificly FOR profile purposes such as Wiki.

I realise that the page does need tidying which is something I plan to do, so could you please tell me how we can avoid this?

Thank you for your time

  • Now that I've looked that the article you're talking about (Stagecoach Theatre Arts) I see that it's primary sourced. WP:PRIMARY forbids primary sources, and further requires articles and publications from third party sources. Therefore, any firsthand knowledge you may have and therefore update the article with isn't valid unless you can find a third party to cite. I'll post this on your IP's talk page. -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 15:33, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Tagging of Natalie Bennett[edit]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Natalie Bennett. I do not think that Natalie Bennett fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because "editor of the Guardian Weekly" is a claim of significance. Several of the other things menbtioned in the articel as it stood when you tagged it are at least arguably claims of significance (multiple publications, "South Camden coordinator for the Camden Green Party", previous political candidate), and taken together are surely enough to avoid a speedy. This might or might not pass AfD wihtout her editorship, but with it would very likely do so IMO -- an any case this is NOT an A7 speedy. I request that you consider not re-tagging Natalie Bennett for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 22:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Green tickY*You made a fair argument, and have changed my mind. Thanks for the note. -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 01:13, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
You are welcome. When to speedy delete and when not to can be tricky judgment calls. I tend to favor not using speedy except in clear-cut cases, but not everyone agrees. DES (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

I saw your talk page note on this article. If you would like the content userfied, just let me know. I removed it from the mainspace as a copyright infringement. TNXMan 15:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks, but I suppose that note should go to the article author, I know nothing about the subject, I just assumed the author was new and didn't know how to wikify articles... so I was going to do it for him/her. Then I realized it was WP:COPY and nominated it for CSD. I suppose that offer should be proposed to the original author. -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 15:50, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

  • That's a little overly grotesque, don'cha think? -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 23:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
  • It looks much better, but the source is still a primary source. The references must be from third-party publications like newspapers or magazines. Please continue all further talk on the articles Talk Page -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 19:36, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Sorry, are you talking to the right person? I know about third-party sources. I merely asked your opinion because I hoped you'd remember what the article looked like when you placed a speedy template on it, and if you could tell whether the recreated version was different. Your talk page is the appropriate place to ask such a question. If the current version was pretty much the same as the one that got speedily deleted, the same speedy deletion criterion applies, as you can see on WP:CSD. Sometimes users simply recreate the exact same article again. But thanks, Drmies (talk) 18:47, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
