Team Europcar 2011 season page

you guys are doing a great job on that- however are you planning on integrating any of it into the main Team Europcar page? At this point its much shorter and less helpful than this season 2011 page you're working on. Summaries from the pertinent sections of the season page would really help flesh it out. I am the principal author of that article (which I mention for no other reason than to explain why I'm replying to something on someone else's talk page). There's absolutely nothing wrong with copying and pasting prose among Wikipedia articles, except for redundancy. So I wouldn't lift all of it, but a suitable summary with a link to the season page is a great idea. You could put it with the 2011 results (or...replace that section entirely. God, WP:CYC loves rote lists). You might look at an article like Cervélo TestTeam to see how their 2009 season is integrated (I should really go back and do 2010 and a final update to that article). Viewing figures

Those figures made me chuckle!! That's really quite a difference. Averaging less than half a million at what is not an ungodly hour is pretty poor, and they must surely be pretty disappointed with that. I'm into my third decade of early starts too! We must be gluttons for punishment. Yes, I agree that Sky's analysis is basically pretty ordinary, despite Brundle's insistence that it would knock our socks off. I agree about Croft too, and am I imagining it, or does Brundle seem oddly disinterested at the moment? Maybe he doesn't get on with Croft, or maybe he saw those viewing figures, hahah... Hmm, I wonder if Brundle regrets his move yet. China was definitely the best race so far, nothing to moan about there really. Wolff v Wolff? Hahah it might be a close thing - I don't think Mr Wolff ever amounted to much on the track, but as you say, Mrs Wolff's DTM stats are appalling. Maybe we should give them a Citroen 2CV each and send them out for 24 hours round the Nurburgring. Winner survives. Did you see how Force India magically disappeared from the feed today? Hmmmm... That's a fact - I'm sure the cash is sweetening the bitter taste of the viewing figures. I think all three races were fairly decent, so yeah, I agree on your assessment there. Three different winners cannot be bad. Maybe four as of tomorrow. Hmm.. seems Mr Wolff was no slouch on occasions at least; I'm sure Mrs Wolff's gender had a lot to do with her relative success - another motorsport failing, really. Need advice

Hi! I noticed you edit cycling articles a lot and I plan on doing that a bit myself, I have been on a cycling editing binge. I was wondering if you think it's ok to put the {{UCI team code|CSC}}, for example, in an article about, say, Jens Voigt winning a race while they had the CSC jersey, since it is going to show as Tinkoff, not CSC. I hope you understand my concerns. I also followed your example for the reference template {{cite news|blahblahblah}}, it is quite a complete one! Thanks in advance. Great! {{UCI team code|SAX|1998}} for example. I watch and do so much cycling, I often come here for info about an obscure rider and well, I often stumble on a stub so I figure I'd help. UP HERE!! I just wrote my first article: Ivailo Gabrovski I hope everything is fine with it, it took me more than 2 hours, my brain is boiling right now! Thanks for the link, I'll check it out after I get out of the vegetative state I'm in. I thought starting the stub would take 15 minutes, but once you start.... Next thing you know it's 2 am and you're working at 6... The stage is on Youtube, 720p if you want to see it. If you want to skip to the sizzling attack (but the rest of the stage is awesome too) just go to 35:30, it's worth watching! I'm glad I found a cycling addict that knows a lot about wikis from what I see in your contribs, the fact that you started a 2KB stub in under 12 minutes.... Disturbs me! I want an anti-doping test! PS: Well since you're doing the Tour of Romandie results, I can concentrate on the Tour of Turkey! Is it worth it to include in their palmares the guys who finish 2nd and third of a stage and have a little text to go with it, in your opinion? 2012 Rally Argentina

Updating the infobox for cyclists - Bradley Wiggins today

Hallo - just crosschecking the data here, i saw that you have the same line in your box as we have in wp:de : last updated. I wonder if you ever explored with your coders or template designers the posibility to get the date automatically. Whenever the data set of the infobox is edited it should be possible to obtain the date from the edit log, where it will be stored, too. As in many other infoboxes the update is displayed, there are chances that somebody in wp:en has created that little java-script already. I updated all the pages I could think of, but if I missed any (and if you feel up to going back to edit all the instances of {{UCI team code|GEC|2012}} to instead be {{UCI team code|GEC|2012a}} so that line of code can be removed from {{Cycling data GEC}} - I sure don't!), do be on the lookout. I do not have it in me to write a Giro article like I did the past three years. I just can't do it. Hopefully someone will, but even just your usual lead 'spiel' with prose such as appears on 2011 Tour de France would be okay. Little bits of trivia like this, though? Sure. I think I did a nice little job of following the 2012 Tour of Turkey. Mr. Gabrovski (thank God I created an article about him lol) had a one man army at the front. Also, you are the only person that answered me since I started editing some here. That certainly means something! I will certainly add to racer's articles' there with my melodious prose. Weird question

Would a race such as this be prestigious enough to be mentioned in a rider's palmares? The winners sure are well-known. Couldn't find much more details about it, since my German is as good as my Chinese. You must be quite busy with the Giro, I didn't see the Prologue, but I'll sure check out the stages. (I sure hope there will be serious breakaways). I like our Canadian chances in the Giro (Ryder Hesjedal). I bet 2 Canadian beers on him. And you, got a pick? Hello! While I was adding Miguel Ángel Rubiano's pro teams today, I was puzzled: one of them redirect to cycling team articles but it doesn't work with the You have called {{Contentious topics}}. You probably meant to call one of these templates instead:

I just updated the Ryder Hesjedal article, for if I had done so earlier today, it would not have had a very encyclopedic tone to it XD. I also noticed that on the 2012 Giro d'Italia article, there are no links to the great report you are producing, which is a shame. I have really gotten the hang of editing and having a friend/mentor like you makes it a great experience! I'll try to give a tiny start to your reports when I have time, but then the Tour of California is starting soon, maybe I should concentrate on very succinct reports about it... Hi! When numerous teams are dead even such as you can see here, do I put BMC first? Is the Giro interesting? The Tour of California sure is, but it's a good thing that it'll be over shortly so I can witness the last week of the Giro. Hesjedal will win! *fingers crossed* PS WHOA! Just saw the last Giro stage ending. Race organizers are crazy to put bends like that in the final kilometers. Current Sports Events

I don't see why the Current Sports Events portal has to be identical in style to the main portal? All of the previous XMonth in ZYear articles have been lists similar to what I had. This style does not suit sports. You really don't need a sentence to just say two teams drew. All you need to say is XTeam 1-1 YTeam. This system also feels cluttered and harder to read than the previous list system. Rubaisport (talk) 23:22, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the stage finish, I'll watch that tonight :) I'll write the résumé of the final stage of the 2012 Tour of California either tonight or tomorrow, as I rode a little more than 100 Km today and am quite tired. I also witnessed the most violent bike crash I've ever seen with my own eyes today, me and my girlfriend passed 2 guys at at least 35 kph, one of them got distracted when we passed them (we were at least 8 feet from them, on their left) and he deviated in a rocky ditch. We called the ambulance, he'll be OK but got a concussion and maybe some broken ribs, I don't know. His 600$ front wheel became a worthless piece of twisted junk. Anyway,Svefnpurka helped me a lot with the tables, he's a nice guy too. Do you ride yourself? Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 00:38, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

2012 Tour of California is a wrap :3. Did you see today's stage? Awesome! I was on the edge of my seat. My predictions for what's to come: tomorrow: nothing. Cavendish wins, who cares? Pozzovivo wins one of the last stages taking a vast amount of time, but Hesjedal marks Rodriguez and doesn't lose much time to him in either stages. Then Ryder destroys everyone in the Time Trial and brings the jersey home. Even his opponents fear him, and rightfully so! *EVIL LAUGH* lol. Seriously, I think his chances are very good! Exactly! This is exactly the problem. And you feel like these people will give you an argument if you revert them, because they're so sure they're right. And I don't have that kind of patience any more. I've popped out of retirement to revert the Schumacher page to your last version, but I'm sure someone will change it again. Yep, I agree. I'll revert obvious vandalism, and that IP-hopping idiot that won't go away, but that's it. I'm not doing the driver results after races any more - I've done it for three years or more, but as you say, IPs coming along and doing some of it, or one part of it, and leaving the rest undone - that does my head in. It's the same with the team articles. You're right, the newbies won't bother with articles about drivers from the 60s or 70s etc - we're pretty much safe to get on with what we want to do there. Those Giro pages look pretty complicated, but at least a non-expert (like me) has half a chance of understanding it, and that's not an easy thing to achieve with complicated topics. I can crack on with the football articles, especially the non-league ones at the moment, with all the reprieves and clubs going bust etc - the silly season. Plus I like to work on music articles, and I'm trying to get a life as well! I'm off to see Brian Robertson tonight - hope he's sober. And oh yes, Schumacher totally deserved that penalty! Nope, IP-hopper still at it. He's trying all kinds of things - I've just reverted his attempt at guessing tomorrow's result. Nobody in any position of authority has the remotest interest... I was doing the same with the F1 result updates - if someone just updated part of it - bam, I reverted him and started again. Sometimes I even used rollback, which you're not supposed to do unless it's vandalism. But it took ages sometimes... no more! I was poking through some of the cycling articles and they're pretty impressive - must be some of the best sporting articles out there, very comprehensive but still easy to read. Good work! Hopefully you don't suffer from IP muppetry like F1 does. I'm getting a bit obsessed with non-league football! Trying to figure out who's going to be in which league is a real jigsaw puzzle. Robertson is a bit of a hero of mine - hopefully I'll get to say hello, although they do warn you never to meet your heroes! I've just read about the Clarkston explosion - something I never knew about (before my time) but it shows how Wikipedia broadens the mind. It is all a bit laughable - modern F1 articles are in danger of becoming a bit of a joke. I've asked for semi-protection of the Schumacher article, as it's getting silly. I even sent one IP a link to the Autosport article that says Webber's on pole, but he still reverted me... I'm waiting to see what happens tomorrow after the race when I don't update the results. Maybe someone will take over, maybe they won't. I think WPF1 can dream about C-class articles across the board, but dreaming is all it'll be. I didn't know about that helicopter crash either - you get the feeling that if that happened today it would be very big news - big inquiries and someone held to blame etc. That was a busy support race schedule today! The first link there shows just the kind of thing that can happen at Monaco, lucky everyone was OK - but lord... Suranovich needs to be taken out the back of the pits and shot for that. I agree again, some of it reads like the Daily Mail. The lack of knowledge is typified by today's pole nonsense. It doesn't help when a couple of sources get it wrong too. Bellof was a very fine driver, I remember Schumacher saying he was a great influence. In a better car, he'd have been extremely hard to beat, I suspect. Good work on those articles! It would have been a hard job to even establish notability from some of those earlier revisions. It just goes to show what can be done. Current sport events (again)

The style you've imposed on the portal is the result of a vote? Or have you changed the style of years and years just because you wanted? I think the Current events/Sports was imperfect, but at least you could log in and view the most important results in a much more simple way. I no longer update the results because I disagree with the way you have changed the style, without any discussion. If it is the result of a vote, then I have nothing more to say. If not, I'd like you to stop changing the style and revert all the results to the way they have always been until there's a good discussion and a vote. I loved updating every day scores and results, but I'm not doing it if you're going to change the style on your own. Something is wrong in the "Origins" section of the Eddy Merckx article since the quotes are getting over the infobox, in my case anyway. I don't know how to fix this. Can't wait until the Dauphiné starts, I looked at the stage profiles today and posted them on the article. Mountainous it's gonna be! I hope someone posts the stages on Youtube. I'm gonna try to at least do the tables every day and maybe write a little something as a basis for you to expand on, if you're still interested in writing this. Cheers! I'm very glad that helped, I'll do it again when I can. Your prognosis seems right, Hesjedal did the top 10 on the Tour in 2010 I believe. The Tour is a step higher than the Giro, but one can dream. :) If you want to get the end of the stages in HD and in English, I found them on Youtube. Could I please remind you of WP:EQ. I appreciate that you didn’t like the new calendar added to the 2012 British Touring Car Championship season page. However, describing the edit as "hideous" when a note saying "remove new calendar; if you want to see a track map, go to that particular track's article" would have been enough. I am only pointing this out as this type of attitude could deter some members of Wikipedia from editing and adding to articles, thus making the project poorer for it.

All I ask is that any criticisms of peoples edits are delivered constructively because the rest of the point that you make, in that “if you want to see a track map, go to that particular track's article" I actually agree with now and with hindsight the edit I made did not add to the quality of this article, hence the value in other editors comments if constructively delivered. Hi, may I ask you why you put the recently won race on top of the year instead of the bottom in his palmares? Maybe this is the regular rule in Wikipedia and I was not aware of that, but I have created his article and in chronological order it has to be on the bottom. These references are needed if Wikipedia wants to be taken seriously, anything not referenced could not be true and that's not what you want. It's not that difficult though, it just takes quite some time to put all the facts into a written article, which is the reason why most articles are just a stub with a list of achievements. I think it's nice to write an article like that every once in a while. That said, there's a lot of info needed to be added to Wikipedia, in current articles and in non existing articles, which means we have no time to write decent articles on all sportspeople, unfortunately. 1988 Giro Possible quick lookover/review

I was wondering if you could look over the article I've been working on for the past few months, the 1988 Giro d'Italia page.
