Sources from "DAR Genealogical Research Databases" are absolutely primary sources. The original research comes in when you synthesize claims from sources that don't appear to discuss Ephraim Hatfield (like the sources about his father) or that mention him briefly to make claims about Ephraim. I do recall that a few of the sources don’t say that his father wasn’t in the American revolution.
