Changing calendar eras

[edit]

See MOS:BCE - in a nutshell, you should not be changing those. - MrOllie (talk) 16:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They are the correct attributions especially give the Christian theme of the page. Davey Oates (talk) 16:49, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Elements of the Hebrew bible are Jewish, not Christian. - MrOllie (talk) 16:52, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Review the link in the MOS:BCE. It clearly states BC and AD are suitable for use. They form part of the Catholic bible. We’ll be going around in circles because anti-religion or left wing views have no place on pages related to religion. Davey Oates (talk) 16:55, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It clearly says "Apply Wikipedia:Manual of Style § Retaining existing styles with regard to changes from one era to the other.". You need to get talk page consensus first. - MrOllie (talk) 16:57, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is talk page? Davey Oates (talk) 16:59, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Davey Oates, See Help:Talk pages MrOllie (talk) 16:59, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Who is the talk page for the Bible and unless they are religious, they have no place dictating attributions of time. If they aren’t religious, they have a false interest. Davey Oates (talk) 17:03, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't even understand the concept of a "talk" page here on Wikipedia, then you probably shouldn't be so forthright in insisting on your editing actions. Could I suggest you take some time to learn about Wikipedia rather than rushing in and changing it? When you reach the point of saying "Aha! Now I understand why the article has "BCE/CE rather than BC/AD", then you are in a better position for discussing it. Feline Hymnic (talk) 17:14, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Changes will continue. Davey Oates (talk) 17:18, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ignorance isn't an excuse to defy our guidelines. If you don't know that BCE is used by Christian theologians you need to do some research. The hard truth is that if you are going to ignore warnings you'll simply be blocked from editing. It's your choice - edit by our "rules" or don't edit. Doug Weller talk 19:52, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Consider yourself likewise warned for ignoring my warnings. It goes both ways. Davey Oates (talk) 19:57, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Might I suggest you try and work with us? Teaching and learning are complementary. If you wish to teach the experts here how (in your opinion) we should behave, then you, as a newcomer, might want to demonstrate your ability to learn from the experience of the experts (regardless of whether you agree with them). Feline Hymnic (talk) 10:55, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Experts on Wikipedia date editing? Davey Oates (talk) 13:15, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are so convinced of your own rightness and resistent to the idea of co-operation and respecting guidelines, you do not belong on Wikipedia. I'm therefore requesting that you be blocked from editing until you learn better. Sweetpool50 (talk) 14:54, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Dee Murray, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:01, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link on adding the citation. I will read it and add a citation for review. Davey Oates (talk) 17:11, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. MrOllie (talk) 17:26, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You will obviously block yourself for reverting my edits? Davey Oates (talk) 19:56, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to Dee Murray, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. Please take a moment to learn how to add references to Wikipedia. Please see Help:Referencing for beginners. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just sent a post to your talk page. Davey Oates (talk) 04:07, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Neither you are User:MrOllie have broken 3RR, and MrOllie can't block anyone as he is an WP:Administrator. But the suggestion that you are going to continue to make era style changes against WP:ERA sounds like a declaration that you will edit war. Doug Weller talk 15:04, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
