Expansion of WikiProject Hard Rock[edit]

You initiated the WikiProject, so I would really like it if you could look over my proposal to expand it to cover rock music in general, and make yourself heard. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hard Rock. Cheers. -- Reaper X 00:58, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, for sure man! Then its settled: WikiProject Hard Rock will now become WikiProject Rock music. Cheers. -- Reaper X 22:00, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I have sent all members notices, and you are basically the only one that has provided a response. It's been over 2 weeks now. I asked the WikiProject Council, and they said it would just be easiest to move all the related pages to their new names ( ... Hard Rock → ... Rock music). Shall I get started? -- Reaper X 20:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, I'll let everybody know. I have made all the page moves and it is now official, we are now part of WikiProject Rock music! Eh, and I see that you have made an invitation already. Thats awesome, if you could keep inviting people that would be great! I wanna really get this going, get more articles, members, etc. Cheers. -- Reaper X 01:03, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I can think of. Nothin besides getting the expansion going. More members and articles is what we need, and all that I can think of. Sorry. I never tried recruiting people, I may do that tonight as I dont have any plans. -- Reaper X 21:19, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rock WikiProject[edit]

I appreciate the invitation but I am spread pretty thin right now. I'm afraid I don't have spare time to join another WikiProject. Good luck though! --Aguerriero (talk) 22:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Thank you[edit]

Your RfA[edit]

Hello! I have left my comments on your RfA. The key message is 'get some experience', as your answers don't reveal a working knowledge of admin-related tasks, processes and duties that require your usage of the admin tools. I see above that you have the Esperanza newsletter. Take a look at the Admin coaching programme that they run, you will find that useful. Try another RfA application in 2-3000 edits time. Regards, (aeropagitica) 23:18, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for having to oppose your RfA, but you need to get a wider view of what adminship is all about. I'm on that same learning curve! --Steve 00:50, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is my regretful task to inform you that I have closed your request for adminship early as unlikely to achieve consensus. Please do not be discouraged; a number of users have had their first RfA end without consensus, but have been promoted overwhelmingly in a later request. Please continue to make outstanding contributions to Wikipedia, and consider requesting adminship again in the future. You may find Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship helpful in deciding when to consider running again. If I can be of any help to you, please do not hesitate to ask. Essjay (Talk) 06:43, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Thanks for asking me if I would be interested in adminship. But, I am still inactive (and hope to return in December). I will let you know when I become active again. Thanks, again. :) Cheers --soumসৌমোyasch 08:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Ashley West, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Princess Tiswas 17:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Rock wikiproject[edit]

Hey man, not a problem. I hope and expect the Wikiproject will blossom even more in the future. Although I am not as dedicated to Wikipedia as I used to be (due to real life), I try and attract as much attention as possible to the greatest genre of music on the planet! One of my developments today was a talk template for album/single/DVD's of Rock Wikiproject bands, {{Wikiproject Rock music disco}}. I also hope to add a rating system to the {{Wikiproject Rock music}} template much like has been done on the Alternative Rock Wikiproject's header (ie. High importance, A rating as seen on the Smashing Pumpkins talk page). I have to thank you though. If you never even initiated the project, theres no way in hell I would have even had the thought or inspiration. Cheers dude. -- Reaper X 18:49, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I worked coat check at a hotel today. Boring, but I got my dad to hook me up with a laptop and the password for the hotel's network. So I sent invites to all WikiProject Alternative music and WikiProject Metal participants. So expect to see a huge swarm of participants in the next couple days, I've already seen a bit in the few hours since... :D -- Reaper X 05:11, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Hi. Remember you had offered to nominate me for adminship and I said I would let you know when I return to editing here. Well, I am fairly active for around a month now, and if you would still want to nominate me, you can. :)

By the way, I see you are also aspiring to be a sysop. I went through your contribution summary. While your edits are pretty sound, you might consider spending a bit more time in the Wikipedia namespace - policy discussions, XFDs etc. Wish you all the best. :) --soum (0_o) 10:00, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DECEMBERUNDERGROUND from AFI[edit]

PLease do not change the musicstyle on this record! there are only 2 punk songs on this record and not more! so let emocore or just coldwave but not punkrock!thx AFI-PUNK

Although you may say that there are only two punk songs, most websites e.g. all music guide still catogorise the album as punk and hardcore punk, so punk can still fit with the article. Besides, that's you're opinion, where's your evidence? DavidJJJ 16:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bring Me the Horizon[edit]

Please do not move articles when there was a disussion not so long back about a move, that resulted in staying where it was. I have moved it back... Please check the talk pages before moving articles, and move history, as it may, and probably has been moved there for a reason. Asics talk Editor review! 19:15, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does it really make much of a difference. Most websites write it as Bring Me The Horizon. DavidJJJ 20:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
:: If you see the discussion, that's what I said, however the vote was not to move, so it must remain as it was. Asics talk Editor review! 21:26, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: RFA[edit]

I don't know if you remember, but a few months ago i had a failed rfa. Could you please tell me if you think i'm ready for another one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DavidJJJ (talkcontribs)

I see that you have undergone an editor review since your first RfA and the advice given was sound. With only sixteen edits in the policyspace since your RfA - four of those to your editor review - and sixty-odd user Talk edits, a lot without edit summaries, show that you need to participate in more admin-related tasks and with a greater frequency too. You can force edit summaries in your user preferences at the top right-hand side of the Wikipedia window. Be careful to keep your comments civil though, as edit summaries such as this can be held against you as giving in to stress and biting an editor. We mustn't be anything other than polite and civil when dealing with vandals, the same as dealing with good editors in fact.
Contributions to the encyclopedia appear to be in order, but I would brush up on standards for stub articles such as Nathan Leone and ensure that you categorise and tag the articles appropriately, including sources and references to demonstrate notability where appropriate. Admins do patrol new articles and recent changes looking for such things to either delete, tag or improve. It's a job for you to do as well and where better to start than with your own articles? This would show confidence that you could talk with other editors about policies and guidelines with confidence, knowing that you were conversant in their application.
In summary, I wouldn't support you for administrator now but I would look favourably upon you in the future when I see evidence of a high standard of contribution in all of the main spaces in Wikipedia over a sustained period of time, four or more months off the top of my head. If you forget about adminship and concentrate on being a good editor you will find that the position tends to seek you out instead!
By the way, I'm the type of editor who likes to see evidence presented neatly for me to examine, so signing your Talk page edit above and linking to you RfA would really have made a better impression. It's an easy thing to forget when you're in a rush and we all make mistakes, but when you're asking about suitability for the admin tools this tends to stand out a lot. Use the 'show preview' button to guard against these mistakes in future, if you don't already. Regards, (aeropagitica) 19:17, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject[edit]

Within the wikiproject you created on rock, i think i'd like to set up a task force (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:TASKFORCE#Task_forces) for blues rock - surely the basis upon which all modern music originates and thus is worthy of a taskforce, possibly later a wikiproject of its own. reply soon please Buddy Dave. Hi David! I recently joined your project, and am a little bit dissatisfied after seeing how it fares compared to other projects like WikiProject Alternative music. I'd love to see the project flourish, though. To address my concerns and eventually give the project some inertia, I've started a discussion at the Project talk page.
