Thanks for your recent contributions to Wikipedia. However, the external links you have recently added to several articles does not meet the guidelines (WP:External links). Specifically, the website is not directly related to the content of the article. It is a general website that does not directly contribute to the encyclopedic content of the article. That places the link the position of being promotional, another violation of the external link guidelines. Since external links generally benefit the linked website more than Wikipedia, I encourage you to contribute content the articles you want to edit. There is an ongoing project to improve the external links on Wikipedia that you might be interested in joining: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Spam. I notice that you haven't received a welcome message yet, so I'll include one below. Feel free to leave me a note on my talk page or on this page. Thanks. Nposs 15:10, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I noticed you added the vistor's bureau link to the Johnston_County,_North_Carolina article. This seems like the appropriate place for it, rather than the individual city/town articles. Nposs 15:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the link you made to Ava Gardner, and then look immediately below it, you will see the very same link already there. You have to actually read an article before editing it. Ward3001 (talk) 15:41, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did read the article and I can repair the duplicate. IMDB is a reference for more than Ava Gardner so I felt it needed to be a reference. Dbtaylor1959 (talk) 16:44, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We don't add external links of general interest that do not pertain directly to the article. If we did, Wikipedia articles would be huge mess of links. Read WP:EL. Most articles on film/TV celebrities already have IMDb links, so adding a general link to Gardner's page accomplishes nothing. The link to IMDb that is already there links directly to IMDb's article on Ava Gardner, not just to the main IMDb home page. I have already deleted your link. Note also that there is a section for External links; you placed your edit in the References section. Ward3001 (talk) 16:55, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
