Wedu Fund[edit]

Dear Deb,

I see that the Wedu fund page I just created, has been deleted. I have no intention of creating a page for pure promotion but just an absolutely neutral entry.

I modeled the page based on this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acumen_Fund and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UYDO and I had not finished editing yet when it was deleted. Any advice on how I can make the entry not seem like a promotion one? I am happy to modify it and I hope you will reinstate, thank you for your help.

Beautiful Store deletion[edit]

Hello there, I see you deleted Beautiful Store recently. Actually in our class, we are working on this page's project and there is no mean of advertising. Would you tell me that why you deleted? We are trying to do work this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GaHee Park (talkcontribs) 10:15, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd appreciate it if you could restore the article so I (acting as the ambassador/instructor to the course) could look over it. The topic is notable, and the students are certainly not trying to create an ad on purpose. But without seeing their article I cannot advice them on any potential problems. PS. Given that this is NOT "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" the speedy deletion is an inappropriate way of dealing with this, please use either prod or regular AFD if you have wish instead. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:46, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for restoring it. I have now read it, and I certainly stand by my opinion that it is not an advertisement and that the deletion was not proper. I once again request that you restore it, with no prejudice to prod of AfD. Speedy was clearly inappropriate. I hope we can resolve it cordially here; otherwise I will have no recourse but to ask for a review of this at AN. And I am sure neither of us cares for the dramu (again, if you are unhappy with this article, let's go to AfD, no need for AN dramu - AfD is for controversial deletions). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:02, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Very well. I have asked for an AN review of this here. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:19, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing. While I appreciate the restoration of User:Piotrus/Beautiful Store in userspace pending the discussion, please restore the full edit history, to comply with licencing (creator's attribution), per Wikipedia:Userfication and related policies. This probably should be also moved to the creator userspace (I have not edited this page) myself. PS. In fact, the edit history may need to be intergated with User:GaHee Park/sandbox, and the entry in my userspace simply redirected there. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:43, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, delete it, I am fine with it, but then please change the link-to's (from AN only I guess). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:54, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What's your honest take[edit]

On my behavior during our recent disagreement? I am curious because my behavior in it is now being criticized at my ongoing RfA as unbecoming of a potential admin. I am curious if you would agree with the editors who cite it as a reason I should not be given the mop and the bucket? I'd have no hard feelings if you were to agree with them and thus oppose my nom, but I'd like to hear from your own self if you think that my behavior towards you was indeed so disrespectful, aggressive, and otherwise improper, as some think it was. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:06, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the answer. In retrospect, I think you were more right than me, although I still think that the technicality was a bit important (as in, we would've been better of with a prod then a speedy... not important anymore). Thanks again for your comment. Alas, I hope that the comment above did not come through as a request for a vote, I was simply curious as to your take on this matter in the context of an RfA, and this is the only reason I linked it. I am again glad we are on good terms, and I hope we will be for years to come! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:30, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm writing to you regarding the deletion of "Verité Research" (created on April 26th). The reason cited is as follows:

The article clearly states that the organisation is a think tank engaged social research(info box) with the appropriate references. You turned the Chinese Dream article into a redirect to the PRC. In the summary you called it an "unreferenced stub", however it's prominently linked in the first section of Xi Jinping, the current president of the PRC. liblogging deletion[edit]

Hi Deb, I created the liblogging article that you deleted. I had begun to try to revamp the information Wikipedia has on logging topics (which is in bad shape, BTW). I had reviewed the other c library articles before I wrote the one on liblogging and had the impression that smaller librarie would be listed as well, if they were broadly available. With liblogging being part of (almost) all current distros, I considered it to be relevant (as least as much as e.g. libslack) to this category. I would appreciate if you could tell my why you considered it promotional, especially as I consider if I should continue adding about logging topics, which of course are a bit esoteric to may folks (but nevertheless pretty important in real life). Do you have any suggestions on what should be added to avoid the article looking like being a promtional piece? Thanks a lot! No harsh feelings, just looking for guidiance on how to continue :-) 19:36, 11 May 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Logfreak4712 (talkcontribs)

Hi Deb, thanks for the explanation, this is very useful to me. I have still to go through the links you posted in-depth, but especially the Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial page is enlightning. I think I now understand where you are coming from. For example, I took "easy to use library" from the projects' homepage and now realize that this sounds promotional. As far as I know, this actually means "a simple and unintrusive API", but I see that this wording is probably better AND needs some reference as proof. I'll also go through the notability article again (I did this before starting my work, but more than once I need to re-read things to fully grasp them). I still think that the article is a valid one. So my next steps is to a) check the material you referenced in more depth and b) do some more in-depth reasearch on the technical and historical facts around liblogging. Then I would try to change the article so that it meets the requirements and hope you'll review it again. I am not sure if I can complete these steps today. So would you prefer if I tell you when I think I am ready to update the article, so that you can restore it for as short as possible? Please let me know. Once again, many thanks for helping me creating better content! Logfreak4712 (talk) 08:42, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for your help. Before actually trying to improve the article, please let us talk about notability. I just did some research. Finding *many* independent sources is always a bit critical for logging topics. However, I found these references which IMO (!) show that liblogging is noteworthy: http://beepcore.org/products.html (this is the Marshall T. Rose (MTR - the BEEP creator) website); here MTR talks about it as an alternative http://osdir.com/ml/network.beep.beepcore.c.general/2004-01/msg00020.htm ; this is a list of BEEP implementations: http://www.syslog.cc/ietf/rfcs/3195.html (used during the IETF standardization effort) and this is a University presentation on logging developments: http://mschuette.name/files/uni/syslog-protocols-080522.pdf There are also many mailing list topcis (too many to quote all) between folks involved in logging system creation, among others reasoning why the API is simple, interop testing with Cisco and San Diego Supercomputing Center and such. Also, there exist ample package information for all leading distros, which I think also do not make much sense to include as references (after all, the package can be seen inside the package mangers). Given these sources, do you think it makes sense to improve the article (I just want to save time for the edit if you think it' not worth it - advise from an experienced user is definitely helpful here ;))? Thanks! Logfreak4712 (talk) 09:42, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again ;) I have now followed your suggestion and posted there Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Computing#liblogging_article - let's see what the outcome is (in any case, the whole discussion is really helpful to me and can guide me in the future!). Logfreak4712 (talk) 11:17, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deb, long time no hear ;) Unfortunately I didn't hear back from the Wiki Computing project, maybe they are just too busy? I wonder how we should proceed. I am still of the opinion that this is a valid topic, even though I understand your concerns. So I would be willing to re-create the article and let it stand the proof of time. Obviously, that doesn't only make sense if you agree and do not delete it immediately for lack of notability. I am not 100% sure on your position based on your last comments. As you are obviously much more experienced, I will accept your judgement, but would like to know in order not to waste time. And, of course, if notability is not the problem I understand that if I don't get the wording itself right, that's another reasons for problems ;) Looking forward to your advise Logfreak4712 (talk) 06:06, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oops... Either I overlooked the answer (:-S) or had a caching issue. But now I saw it and will follow the advise. Sorry for the interruption and thanks! Logfreak4712 (talk) 21:10, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Club des Balugas deletion[edit]

My page on the band "Club des Balugas" was deleted today because you claimed it was promotional. I am a fan of the band, I in no way intend on advertising anything, and the page already exists in Russian (http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_des_Belugas). I want to know why the page appears promotional and what needs to be fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mushyjoy (talkcontribs) 11:37, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Redirection of Order Lead Time[edit]

Hello Deb, Redirecting to Lead Time is in my eyes not correct action, because as the same source you redirect in Wikipedia mentions http://www.leadtimes.org Lead Time Terminology in Manufacturing, the Lead Time is composed by 5 lead times and the Order lead time is only a small portion of it. You can also reference to Stevenson, W.J. & Hojati M. 2002 “Operations management.” Vol. 8. New York: McGraw-Hill/Irwin. I would add this as a next step when I get the separate page for Order Lead Time back. My intention is to share the formulas of how to calculate this time that can improve revenue models of the industry by knowing the order behavior of the customer. Hopefully this helps to clarify any doubt you may have.

How can I get my original order lead time article back?

Thanks!

The article Invisible hinge has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The concept does not appear to be notable, the 3 listed sources are all not reliable sources, and the article reads like an advertisement.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I realize you didn't write the article but I did want to give you a heads-up about the proposed deletion. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:27, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cherry Wainer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oh, Boy! Hi Deb, I have received one warning from you about one recent product of Huawei. The articled "appeared to be promotional" to you. But there are thousands of other pages to describe the products, right? When Huawei launches a new smartphone, the details are here? Nathaniel Hayward[edit]

Hi Deb. First of all, thanks for your article. I was thinking about creating an article for Nathaniel Hayward for some time. From all the info I can find, it seems that Charles Goodyear acquired his vulcanization process from him, and he is the real father of the vulcanization process. Though, I fear this view might seem controversial, as Goodyear is a well known personality, and a beloved inventor in the USA. I can expand on your article quite a bit, but 'd like someone to review my editions, as English is not my native language. I guess you will be notified if I edit the article? I hope so. Cheers. Hi Deb, saw you deleted my page with (A7: No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event), not sure why 'cause the band itself is quite known all over the world between prog music fans and count more than 22000 followers, while there are pages of bands on wiki with less significance. Re: Believe.in deletion. Hi - this page is the only thing I've ever written for Wikipedia which I did because my charity used them and found the concept unique and helpful. Now it's been deleted for advertising though it was never meant to be such. And it seems far less promotional than the pages which link to it. Is there anything I can do, in terms of style and format, that could help to see it included again? Many thanks, --Bermondsey Boys (talk) 14:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Bermondsey Boys.[reply]

I believe that you improperly speedily deleted Pablo Sebastián López, the article did include a clear explanation of notability. PatGallacher (talk) 15:45, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This page was only recreated once information about notability was provided. You seem to have missed that.

You don't seem to have noticed that and have deleted the page far too hastily. Please put it back. For a volunteer project, it is extremely inappropriate of you to expect people to respond in 5 minutes or you delete their page and you are only undermining goodwill towards Wikipedia and the community.

If you have concerns about notability, then I would suggest you also delete the pages about projects such as Sipdroid and CSipSimple - it is both inconsistent and unfair for wikipedia to favour some of these mobile apps while excluding others.
