A tag has been placed on Deerfoot Mall, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Triplestop x3 18:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Because your account was used for promotion of a company, group, product or organization with a username that promotes or implies affiliation with the aforementioned. This includes, but is not limited to: adding spam links, creating promotional pages (this includes user pages), adding advertisements to existing articles, and adding promotional/favorable content about something you are affiliated with.

Use of Wikipedia for promotion of people, products, companies or other groups (even non-commercial or charitable ones) is considered Spam and is forbidden. Such actions will result in the blocking of the account involved. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for our policies about this.

In addition, user accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing. Your username should reflect this. Usernames that appear to be promotional (such as those that make reference to a company or product) violate our username policy and are typically blocked to enforce that policy.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Tell us what new username you want to use. Please make sure that your new username does not violate our username policy and check that it has not already been taken (click here to search).
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If instead you believe that you have been blocked by mistake (i.e., you have not in fact been using Wikipedia for promotional purposes), please write {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box and replace the text "Your reason here" with the reason why. See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. Toddst1 (talk) 18:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

so this was my first attempt at using Wikipedia as a contributor. The Help/ tutorial sections were exceptionally difficult to understand and follow. I thought I had to make a username based on what I wanted to post as an article. So I make one with a relevant name to my article title. Next I find the editing/creating stage even less userfriendly. So I took examples from other pages on the same subject and included the same information. Pages like southcentre mall and market mall. then after spending the better part of 3 hrs finally getting somewhere, I save my page only to have it flagged for " ambiguous promotional" reasons. Which Doesnt make sense to me as I included the same facts and data as the other pages for malls. Then I continue to remove information that I thought might be causing this tag, only to have my account blocked from editing. So I can't even fix the problem that I don't completly understand in the first place. All I wanted to do was fill out the info for a mall I like.

Decline reason:

Sorry you've had difficulty. The main issue appears to be your user name, which seems not to conform to our username policy. Editing an article about Deerfoot Mall made it appear as though you had a conflict of interest or were making promotional edits. Your first step should be to select a new username and post a request for username change unblock, using the template {{unblock-un}}. If you need further help with editing after that, you can leave a note on your talk page. Exploding Boy (talk) 06:37, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Username unblock request

[edit]

{{unblock-un|CalvinC1985}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to CalvinC1985 (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

Request handled by: Daniel Case (talk) 22:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

[edit]

I have attempted to put the request in at Wikipedia:Changing username however when I click on the link to add request it brings me back to the "blocked from editing" page.

Calvin forgot to unblock you when he approved the request. You should be unblocked now. Exploding Boy (talk) 18:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} I have requested a username change that was approved but my login/profile still show the old name. I wish to recreate an article that was deleted due to conflict between my username and article as well as misunderstanding of Wikipedia. I have been unblocked and am able to edit but I just want to make sure that the same problem won't occur again before I publish.

You have to make your request at Wikipedia:Changing username, not on your talk page, by following the instructions there. After your username has been changed by an administrator, you will be allowed to make edits again. If you only intend to edit a specific article or topic on Wikipedia and never anything else, then that is a single-purpose account and strongly discouraged. If you intend to edit on a variety of articles or topics, then you are free to make contributions, and I welcome you to Wikipedia. Please let me know if there are any more questions.
By the way, you should add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) to the end of the comments you make on talk pages. That will add a signature with your username and the date and time you made the comment, which helps other users follow discussions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 16:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
