Denver West Side Jewish Community[edit]

Hi. I have semi-protected Denver West Side Jewish Community to end the unproductive edit warring that has been going on there -- and encourage productive discussion, instead. Please go to Talk:Denver West Side Jewish Community to discuss the article. I started some discussion there.

Semi-protection does not prevent you from editing this article, but it does prevent unregistered and newly registered users. I trust that you and other registered users will refrain from edits to the article that may have the affect of advancing a position or point of view. --Orlady (talk) 00:13, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi[edit]

I hope you dont mind but I saw the pictures you have on Flickr and there really good. I got a Shane Lechler, Ken Hamlin, Kyle Orton and many others to add to some pages. Dont worry I credited you as taking the photos.Stealthninja545 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:03, 25 December 2009 (UTC).

pictures[edit]

When adding new pictures to an infobox, don't forget to put the old picture in the article somewhere. The people who originally took the photos would appreciate that. Thanks! RF23 (talk) 02:03, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Merging UCHSC with University of Colorado Denver[edit]

I'm thinking of merging the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center article with the University of Colorado Denver article. Everything about the (now non-existent) UCHSC can be written about (and a lot HAS been written about) in the UC Denver and the Anschutz Medical Campus articles. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! Bobfreshwater (talk) 23:25, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Photo request: Frontier Airlines HQ[edit]

Is Denver Airport convenient to where you are? If so, would you mind photographing the Frontier Airlines HQ, Frontier Center One? Please try to get a shot of the building with the sign that says "Frontier Center One"? The shot should look something like this: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Frontier+Airlines,+Denver,+CO&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.817312,79.013672&ie=UTF8&hq=Frontier+Airlines,&hnear=Denver,+CO&ll=39.823815,-104.771955&spn=0,359.995177&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=39.823704,-104.771958&panoid=_t0U03d0plr_LW01G1FLNg&cbp=12,300.61,,1,1.15 Thank you WhisperToMe (talk) 16:00, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

1925 F Street Club[edit]

In all likelihood, there are two properties at the same address. See the list for Delaware County, Ohio, which I recently helped to illustrate — the Mill Worker Houses 4 and 5 are on the same lot. I'd guess that the same is true with 1925 F St. We discovered one situation where the same place was listed twice: Twin Oaks near Cincinnati was re-listed as the "Robert Reily House" by accident some years after it was listed as Twin Oaks. However, the two listing dates were several years apart: since 1925 F Street and the Steedman-Ray House were listed on the same day, it can't have been that they weren't paying attention and listed it a second time after forgetting that they'd listed it the first time. Nyttend (talk) 00:19, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Never mind: it's an error here at Wikipedia. After I wrote everything above, I ran an Elkman infobox search for 1925 F St. and found that there is no such entry in the database. Therefore, our list has two lines for the same place; it's listed on the Register only as the Steedman-Ray House. Thanks much for catching this error! Nyttend (talk) 00:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. You may be interested in the house's NR nomination form. Nyttend (talk) 01:19, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Denver fully illustrated??![edit]

I took a trip to Denver, and may have snapped enough pictures to have completed all of Denver. It will take me awhile to sort out all those Historic Districts - give me a week to be sure. I'm quite sensitive to the high quality photos that you've put in the lists. I'm afraid that my photos won't come up to that quality, but in most cases they cover the basics. Feel free to replace them.

2 possible problem listings are the Richthofer Castle and the Henry Roth House (should be houses - it's a triplet which I didn't understand when I took the photo) Richthofer is just plain hard to photograph - Take your choice of 3 bad choices

Let me know if you have any feedback. Smallbones (talk) 02:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

DJeffrey,
I knew there was something wrong about Henry Roth House(s) but couldn't figure out what! (Except tiredness, and sun-addled brain). I've put the Richthofen 1 pix in the list, but there has to be a better permanent solution. Some of the historical pix have promise, but checking copyright could be a problem. I've replaced the Cheeseman Esplanade photo to one with more grass (on the actual esplanade). You might check some of my recent additions (or replace them if you have better pix), but I think they all are factually correct. That leaves ol' Henry Roth as the only missing photo in the whole of Denver. And I was only half a block away! Any chance that you could go down and have a talk with ol' Henry (and take the pix while there)? I'd love to see "Denver (including 4 subdivisions)" on the fully Illustrated list list. :-) Smallbones (talk) 19:44, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. It's a shame we can't get Henry Roth. I did find this, but it is neither a reliable source, nor free of copyright. Looking forward to December. Smallbones (talk) 02:01, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
While I was discussing the Fox Street photos with Smallbones, he pointed me to your foliage-heavy photo on Flickr. Would you mind if I uploaded it? In my mind, a photo that illustrates relatively little is better than no photo; that's why I used File:Singer House, Wilkinsburg.jpg until I found a replacement, and why I've been using File:Elm Court courtyard, Butler.jpg to illustrate a historic house for well over a year. Of course I know that I can upload it, since you've tagged it as cc-by-sa, but I'll not do it if you think it a bad idea. Nyttend (talk) 04:06, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for being okay with the Flickr photo; it's great to have the entire city illustrated! And thanks for contributing so much to that list; you must have provided far more than half of the photos. Nyttend (talk) 13:52, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Colorado[edit]

The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. Several users have asked us to reactivate WikiProject Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. Many articles about Colorado need to be updated and many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs some new featured articles.

Can you help us? Please see our list of some requested articles. If you would like to remain an active member of WikiProject Colorado, please leave me a message at User talk:Buaidh or e-mail me at Special:EmailUser/Buaidh. If you cannot help right now, you can go to inactive status and then reactivate your status later. Thanks for any help you can provide. Yours aye,  Buaidh  16:46, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Washoe County house[edit]

It's just one house, but the situation is odd. If you put "Clifford House" into Elkman's infobox generator, it gives you B-C House, and you get the same thing if you tell Elkman's county list generator to give you Washoe County. However, if you run a search for all Washoe County locations in the NRHP Focus database, it only gives you C House. The property appears in the Recent Listings for July 3, 2008 (note that someone put it into the list with a listing date of June 24, 2008), so I suspect that they simply changed the name by which it was listed. I'm going to merge the two entries; thanks for letting me know! Nyttend (talk) 01:08, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject Colorado[edit]

It was recently suggested that WikiProject Colorado, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semi-active and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there haven't been much active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. Another user has added the project to the WPUS template and I added it to the list of supported projects in the WPUS main project page but before I take any further action I wanted to contact each of the active members for their input. --Kumioko (talk) 23:15, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

bridge pics not the historic ones[edit]

Hey, been there done that about taking pic of a bridge on a highway at the right spot, though it didn't really look old. The Big Thompson III bridge pic that you uploaded is of a modern bridge, either directly replacing the old NRHP-listed one or half-a-mile away from the still-existing old crossing of the same river. See the NRHP nom pics now linked from new article about it.

Maybe this applies for the Big Thompson IV pic too. --doncram 01:18, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Okay, got your message back. Well, if the camelback pony truss is gone, then it is no longer NRHP-eligible in my view! And it probably should be delisted. My reaction is informed too much, probably, by my own sorry experience of taking pics of a bridge like that, when the historic one was just around a bend. --doncram 01:39, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Chill, okay? The historic bridge has been demolished, and is no longer there, pretty clearly, whether it was done in a couple stages or all at once. There are indeed many cases of NRHP-listed buildings which have been completely demolished, and our practice is to take a pic of the empty lot. Not sure if in such cases we put the pic into the county list-article, or what. Don't be mad at me. I am sorry, i figured first you had taken a pic of the wrong location and that was incorrect. But don't be mad at me, and don't make demands of me. It is not my fault the stupid bridge is gone. --doncram 02:04, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi, sorry. Your 2 photos are in the Larimer list-article and also I drafted a combo page at Big Thompson River bridges to cover all 4 bridges that were NRHP-listed together. I wonder if you could take a look at it and change it any way you like. Some of it works, i think: the linked Google/Bing map, and having four sections with the four NRHP nom docs linked. It could be developed, from that beginning, I hope. Anyhow i am sorry about being touchy and want to take that back about demands; it has to be, and is, okay to make requests of another editor. Please do accept my apology. sincerely, --doncram 23:14, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Hey, I like what's standing at the Little Thompson river, better... :) Out of your WLM contributions. I only put up 11 pics, at the last minute, myself. Cheers! --doncram 01:50, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Greetings from WikiProject Open Access[edit]

Dear Jeffrey,

it is now one year since WikiProject Open Access was started by User:Bluerasberry on January 10, 2012. Since then, the project has advanced modestly, but we have not interacted much. For the coming year, we certainly want to improve on that.

We also plan to overhaul the project pages to make them more conducive to collaboration, and we are pondering the idea of expanding the concept of a WikiProject Open Access to projects other than the English Wikipedia, e.g. to other languages or to Wikimedia Commons. You are warmly invited to add your voice to all that. We would also appreciate if you would share some of your OA-related activities by way of our news ticker or via the monthly Open Access report that is part of the GLAM newsletter (to which you can subscribe here), or as you see fit otherwise.

As a visual token of the anniversary, I am adding today's Open Access File of the Day. Feel free to nominate files yourself. As of today, commons:Category:Open access (publishing) contains more than 15,000 files, of which about 2/3 are video and sound files uploaded by the Open Access Media Importer.

Thanks for being part of the project, and looking forward to more interaction. With a smile, -- Daniel Mietchen - WiR/OS (talk) 23:55, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

OER inquiry[edit]

Hi Denverjeffrey, I'm sending you this message because you're one of about 300 users who have recently edited an article in the umbrella category of open educational resources (OER) (or open education). In evaluating several projects we've been working on (e.g. the WIKISOO course and WikiProject Open), my colleague Pete Forsyth and I have wondered who chooses to edit OER-related articles and why. Regardless of whether you've taken the WIKISOO course yourself - and/or never even heard the term OER before - we'd be extremely grateful for your participation in this brief, anonymous survey before 27 April. No personal data is being collected. If you have any ideas or questions, please get in touch. My talk page awaits. Thanks for your support! - Sara FB (talk) 20:38, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Far East Center, Denver[edit]

Hello Denverjeffrey. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Far East Center, Denver, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I am not clear whether the name "Far East Center" refers only to the building at 333 S. Federal Blvd. or to a neighborhood. In any event, the references establish that this is not something made up, although I am not sure they establish notability. Thank you. ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:59, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Timber Creek etc.[edit]

Done. It was just a little coding mistake (you accidentally cut the |} at the end of the list), not something big.

Unrelated issue: are you familiar with any significant library jobs websites for Colorado, similar to the ALA joblist or to this page for Indiana? I'm finding the usual autogenerated pages from general job-hunting websites (example), but not anything that's specifically for librarianship. I've been out of grad school for 2½ years now, and aside from a long-and-useful unpaid internship, I've not yet gotten professional employment. Nyttend (talk) 20:09, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

You're welcome. The coding is overall simpler with the {{NRHP row}} template, but it makes little things like the |} rather counterintuitive. And thanks for the pointer; I'll often just check university websites, but it takes so long to check each one separately, so of course these jobs aggregators are helpful. I interviewed a couple of years ago at Colorado Christian in Lakewood, although obviously I didn't get it. Nyttend (talk) 20:28, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

Thank you so much for the Granite photo. I went to school in the one-room school house located up on the hill above the village. Gandydancer (talk) 04:35, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

about some Colorado NRHP articles[edit]

Hi, I am adding references and somewhat developing a batch of Colorado articles, including IOOF Hall (De Beque, Colorado) (which has a nice pic by you, in high resolution which allowed me to make sense of the NRHP document, thanks!).

There are 16 Colorado NRHPs on my fix-up target list here, and 6 Wyoming ones just below. Each has a NRHP nomination document reference added to the article already, while it is temporarily in an under-construction type category that I set up using AWB. But I'm having trouble accessing the PDFs through the NPS site, and I have been doing too many of these already. If you feel up to adding any text for any of these, so I don't have to do as much, I'd be thrilled!

By the way I also started Draft:Emmanuel Shearith Israel Chapel, at 1201 10th St. in Denver, which I see may be close to you. It would be a small favor if you could move the Draft article over to mainspace (i am still technically restricted from starting NRHP articles in mainspace), but someone in AFC will get around to doing that soon anyhow. I found the article was needed when i started to mention Denver's official landmark program within List of Denver landmarks, to which I redirected Denver landmark, thinking it would be an official list. But the list has been some kind of list of visitor attractions. Are the official ones called Denver landmarks or Denver Landmarks, do you know? I would be happy to learn of any pre-existing page about Denver's program. Otherwise developing a list-article there would make sense. Cheers --doncram 01:33, 25 July 2016 (UTC)

  • I am sorry, I don't want to collaborate on this at this time Jeffrey Beall (talk) 21:45, 25 July 2016 (UTC).
    • Okay, no problem. I will just add briefly to the existing NRHP articles, and not develop the Denver landmarks list. --doncram 00:17, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, I actually am a member already, number 37. My signature is set to display my real name.

Pulsus Group[edit]

Please see this edit. Do you have a reference that shows when Pulsus was added to your list? I assume it happened after Pulsus was taken over by OMICS, because up till then they were perfectly respectable, but inorder to write that in the article we need a reference. Thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 20:34, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Yes, according to my records, I added the publisher to my list on September 13, 2016. So, that edit is not correct. Thanks, Jeffrey Beall (talk) 20:41, 6 October 2016 (UTC).
OK, so it was good to take out the "2015". Did you do a blog post about Pulsus where you mention when it was added to the list? (I follow your blog, but can't remember). --Randykitty (talk) 20:43, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I mentioned it in this blog post on September 29th. Earlier, I added Andrew John Publishing Inc. to my list, in January, 2016. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 20:48, 6 October 2016 (UTC).
Thanks! I've added this as a reference to the Pulsus article. --Randykitty (talk) 09:11, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Vastly incorrect figures on Thailand Tsunami page[edit]

I'm not sure if you are responsible or not but the death toll figures on the page 'Effect of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake on Thailand' are incredibly wrong.

There are too many zeros added to some of the figures, taking the count into the millions (..."death toll in Khao Lak may have exceeded 45,000,000").

It throws uncertainty over the rest of the article. Are you able to correct?

Best, Daniel
