RFA comments

Hi you sought my comments on your RFA. Yes I am the user formerly known as A Y Arktos; I am sorry I should have made it clearer in my RFA comments. A lot of wikipedians think a few months and we can overlook past behaviour. I am not quite such a fan of recentism. I appreciate people can mature I just think it takes a little longer. To change my mind I would need demonstrable cooperative encyclopaedic editing and participation in editing projects. I think the encyclopaedia is built on editing, obviously tools to counter vandals, protect pages, etc are desirable but they need to be used maturely by people who are in tune with creating the project. Regards --Golden Wattle talk 10:11, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

RE: My RfA

Hey there! I'm glad that you're not disheartened by the results and I hope you do ask for buttons in the future. Apologies for the somewhat delayed response (on holiday), but if you're still looking for feedback, the best advice I can offer is to treat each user like a real person who is volunteering their valuable time and efforts to this project, much as you are. I'm not very active in the way of clicking my own extra buttons, so apologies if you were looking for something a bit more "adminy", hehe :). gaillimhConas tá tú? 11:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Can you provide some input into the following discussion? [[1]] I'm trying to merge all historical race articles into a single all encompassing article and I'd appreciate some input. Most of the articles to be merged are stubs or articles bulked up with uncited information and it would benefit to have them all condensed into a single article detailing the historical concepts of race. Dear Nick,
I wish you the best 4th of July you have ever had,
and that you enjoy living in your country

Fourth of July fireworks behind the Washington Monument, 1986.jpg
I would have loved to light fireworks myself but it's illegal in most of Northern California without a permit—which I obviously don't have. So instead I drove 2½ hours to Auburn which is the nearest town with good fireworks (there's a closer town; only about 1½ hours away but their fireworks are pathetic). I didn't get home until past midnight. :| But I had my annual 4th of July grill and I had a hot dog so all's good, eh? ;) —  $PЯINGrαgђ  17:20, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Not bad at all, It's encouraging to see that your not so quick on the deletion trigger as many around her, but I'm just an old inclusionist. The important thing to note is that, "all edits are effort" and if you destroy that effort, you'd better have a good reason. The vandalisms was pretty much spot on, good work. Cheers!

My sweet, dear Nick, sometimes I find myself with so little time in my hands to visit every good friend whom I admire wholeheartedly, and love deeply, like you. I fear my silence sometimes may be mistaken with lack of interest... and gestures as beautiful and warm like you've gifted me in the past, will always stay with me, forever. For this, I simply needed to tell you how special you are, how important I feel you are to our community, as an editor, as a person, and as a friend. I cross fingers that, in the next future, my real life obligations don't interfere with my wishes of coming here, and see you and talk to you as often as I'd like. You deserve years and years, rather than the mere day I've gifted you. May that humble gift serve as a token of how important youa re to me, friend! :) Love, Phaedriel - 21:29, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Just filling you in...

I see you're not longer that active on here any more - or something gave me that idea, can't really remember... anyways
As my past mediator, I thought I'd just tell you about what's been going on... but there's nothing pressing at the moment. For now I think the situation's stable and calm, but a few things happened. So if you're really bored... have a look...

Well, there you have it.
As for the famous Anal stretching article, I've got at least 1 admin on board that thinks the article should never have been deleted in the first place. There was also this place on Wikipedia - gonna have to look it up again - that showed examples of problems with deletion procedure, and basically argued that the article Anal Stretching shouldn't have been deleted.
So with a bit of luck, we might get an admit to at the very least unprotect the article on Anal Stretching so that somebody/anybody/everybody can recreate it.
Meanwhile some guy wants to merge it with Anal Sex .. which would be the wrong thing to do - if you read the article on what Anal Stretching is actually all about. (But you can't).
Another day with the whacky admins in the Wikipedia circus! Rfwoolf

Perhaps in about a month, I defiantly want to run again before the end of the year. I wonder how I'll go when ST47 can be opposed. By looking at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/ST47 5, I'm sure I'll get less support than I did last time. What madness! Thanks for your continued support mate.
When were you in Canberra? I was in Sydney the last few days (photographing the Kitty Hawk). It is cold here, in winter you can freeze to death, in summer be burnt by the heat and all year round become hopelessly lost on our many roundabouts. Horay! Where did you go what did you see? Cheers, Dfrg.msc 01:12, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
I was in Canberra 2.5 weeks ago, staying two nights before continuing south to Perisher. I stayed at the Hotel Heritage, Woden, and the only thing we saw was the Romanian consulate (citizenship issues, pointless IMO, but my parents wanted it). Oh, and we saw Old Parliament house. Didn't see you though :P Giggy UCP 01:14, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Before the end of the year? Cool. I doubt you'll do badly based on ST47's, I don't see how you and him are identical (or even related). You do a good deal of article work, right? Anyway, I'm going to be running some time in the near when Husond returns from breathing clean air (as if you need that, pollution ftw :P) and nominates me :D Giggy UCP 01:26, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Removed images

Hi. I removed the images[3][4] because I didn't think they contributed to the encyclopedic content of the respective articles. "A tank stencil" containing "coming soon" doesn't add any encyclopedic information to Tank that I can divine. And if, as implied by your own inclusion of the image in the articles "Pacifism", "Opposition to the Iraq War", "Criticism of the War on Terrorism", it carries a political message, then displaying it in the article seems inappropriate to me, particularly if you created the image yourself for this purpose ("source: self-made" is unclear on whether you created the image or just took a photo of it; if the latter, then someone else may hold copyright over the stencilled image). I don't think "A stencil of a Super Mushroom from the video game Super Mario" adds any encyclopedic information to Mushroom either, nor do links to stencil, Super Mushroom and Super Mario.

Sorry for not justifying my removal in the edit summaries; by the nature of the images, I assumed their addition was just for larks. If you think they are justified, then please explain the rationale on the respective articles' talk pages. Regards. Michael Z. 2007-07-14 15:17 Z

Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

Thank you!

Hey dude, just about to review the Banksy article for GA and I noticed that it already was a GA. What's going on? I think it needs to be delisted and a bit more work on it (which I'd describe in more detail during the review) before it makes GA. I'll hold on reviewing it until you can tell me what's going on! Cheers for now, The Rambling Man 16:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've removed your nomination for the time being. It's already listed as GA but I think it should be delisted, there are a number of concerns. So, I'm going to delist it in a few days providing no good objections are presented. Then I think some work needs to be done before it'll get back to GA again. Hope you're okay with it, let me know. This talk page is officially in Portugal. Welcome to Portugal.
Now, not only this talk page has been claimed by the United States, but Husond's and Dark Fall's as well. Mess with the best...

Hello Dfrg, and thank you for the cool pic and bar. I cannot, however, allow your death machine to be operational. By sticking this flag to your page, I hereby claim it for Portugal. Your death machine is now under Portuguese jurisdiction. It cannot be operational unless you fill 70 forms available in 70 different departments spread across the country, pay the respective fees, and wait until around the time the New Horizons probe reaches Pluto for approval. You may however drive your death machine on the highway just for fun. Speed limits are negligible around here. Cheers, Húsönd 23:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

ps.- get well soon! :-) Húsönd 23:36, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Nooo... How could this happen! The machine is Australia's, and you better give it back Husond, before I make a ethnic war... And trust me, You don't stand a chance against us.... --Dark Falls talk 09:53, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I really do need to go, and I don't have much time to say everything that I'd like to - but I'm not going to have a full scale border war escalate over this (reminds me of my first marriage!). Anyway, I'll admit when I am bested by the white fleet and these soils are Portuguese now (could be worse). But my User page will stay Australian. A fair agreement? And an all other subpage can be calimed by other nations. I'll finish this when I get back. Love, Dfrg.msc 11:33, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Weird. Your main page is in Australia and this is in Portugal? :P — $PЯINGεrαgђ 22:59, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh no, no way we'll let an ethnic war break between our allies, so the best way to avoid it, is to reclaim that machine for ourselves. Wikipedia's servers are located in our great nation, gentlemen - and for that reason, all of you are now proud citizens of America. Liberty and justice for all! ;) Phaedriel - 23:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
No chance against the superpower of the world. I submit myself as a proud American....(sigh) Now I have to memorize the United States Constitution... --Dark Falls talk 07:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
"This talk page is officially in Australia. Welcome to Australia." and that's on your userpage.... Made the same mistake as me...[5] --Dark Falls talk 11:41, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Where do I come into this? :( Giggy Talk | Review 00:54, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Guy Gone?

I'd like to call your attention to the disappearance of User:Guy. His page has bee deleted, (CSD G7: Author Requests Deletion) as well as his Talk Page. Any info? Cheers, Dfrg.msc 07:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Nope, and if you check his contributions (because those won't get deleted) it doesn't hold much info either, other than the his page was deleted on 6th of August, and he made a contribution on the 8th of August, that is to say that the deletion of his userpage doesn't mean his account was deleted in any way (to my knowledge anyway) which means that he may not be permanently gone.
What I do know is that he was threatening to leave for several weeks, with his talkpage saying something similar to "Guy is away, somewhat disillussioned. He'll be back, probably". Then he came back for a bit (evidently - check his contribs) but left the message up as far as I can recall even though he was still mildly active - with several messages on his talkpage begging him to stay, to which, he only replied to some of them.
There are of course a number of things that could indicate a possible reason for him wanting to leave, however, I can't ascertain anything that seemed to break the camel's back - i.e. the last straw. Given that, I find it unlikely that Guy would have left without a parting message of some kind, given the myriad of users he's worked with and who apparently respect him, unless he perhaps wanted people to wonder if he was gone.
Therefore, one cannot be entirely certain that he has left.
If there's anything you know that you can share, I'd be interested. Rfwoolf 12:58, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Your page has been conquered by the Australian Cabal

Hello Dfrg.msc. I am here to inform you that your userpage or talk page has been conquered by the Australian Cabal. Please don’t panic; there is nothing you can do about it. You are hereby invited to join the Cabal, and help conquer other pages for our cause. See User:Giggy/Australian Cabal for more information. Thank you, have a nice day, and welcome to Australia.
