Secret Societies Edits[edit]

I edited the Collegiate Secret Societies page to include mine; I would like future members to see that this society existed. There are no online references, as this is a relatively new society. However, there are many other societies on this page without references. Could I please be allowed to retain the addition of this society?

Thank you very much for considering this request.

If there aren't any references, then there is no way to verify its existence. Until there are some references (by third parties) that show it's a significant club, then it doesn't belong on the page. ... discospinster talk 02:36, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Creation of the page Smartron[edit]

Hi Discospinster, I was trying to create a new article on Smartron - The electronic brand which offers Smartphone, Laptops etc which has investors like Sachin Tendulkar (Indian cricketer). I noticed that there was already a page create under this name before which was deleted. I wanted to inform you that I will be adding a fresh content on the new article. Can you please share the previous deleted page article content if you have so that I can see if it violated any of the wiki terms. Also would need your feedback as well. Akash207 (talk)

Hi Discospinster, Thanks for your feedback on my talk page. I've created the article page smartron with fresh content. Please check and let me know the feedback, if any. Thanks Akash207 (talk)

Peter George[edit]

I don't disagree that the first paragraph was the wrong place to mention his death. Respectfully, I don't know that one's death should be listed under their "Accomplishments", however I'm at a loss for a better place to mention it, given the other content on the page. Perhaps the reference should be removed entirely?

TheFalseProphet (talk) 03:46, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

I just put it after the bit that talked about his wife's death. I'll add a heading to separate it from the Accomplishments section. ... discospinster talk 19:48, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

"he's not retired from being English"[edit]

Crikey, how many times has this turned up at John Deacon's article now? Are there any other biographies where this crops up frequently? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:49, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

The Diego Maradona article calls him an "Argentine retired professional footballer", and Alessandro Del Piero is also an "Italian former professional footballer" but I don't know if that's been changed back and forth. So it probably is unique to this article! I'll put a note in, although that won't stop everyone. ... discospinster talk 13:25, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

I think I've seen this set of reverts enough times now to lodge something in Wikipedia:Lamest edit wars#John Deacon :-) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:13, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

I remember being "involved" in one at Freddie Mercury about whether he's Indian or Parsi or Azerbaijani (yes, someone was arguing for some reason that he was Azerbaijani). ... discospinster talk 13:24, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Prime Ministers of Canada[edit]

Please leave the numbering & the offices linked separately. That's how they've been for years. GoodDay (talk) 02:34, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Street Sharks[edit]

Greetings. I won't revert, but I can assure you the physical episodes themselves (without commercials) are 22mins, despite what IMDb says. The IP was right. YouTube links as a ref, perhaps? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 23:49, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Well if you want to check every one of the articles that the IP has edited, and supply a reference for each one, be my guest. In the meantime IMDB is all we have to go on. ... discospinster talk 23:51, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
I have no interest in the other articles, but I would consider myself rather an expert on Street Sharks, having been a fan of the show for twenty years. If a mere link to an episode(s) on YouTube readily contradicts IMDb's incorrect information, in plain numbers, what's the harm? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 23:55, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
You can try it, at least it's better than no source at all. ... discospinster talk 00:42, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

DRV notification[edit]

Hello. Regarding Republic of Kekistan which you salted, please see Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2017 June 12. -- zzuuzz (talk) 07:12, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

OK thanks for the heads up. Do I have to unsalt it, or does the closing admin do that? ... discospinster talk 21:52, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
I shouldn't think you'll have to pay any further attention to the matter. -- zzuuzz (talk) 06:08, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I removed your WP:PROD template at Paraduin, because the reason you provided seemed invalid. The third-party sources don't need to be significant, their coverage of the topic must be. Significant coverage means: more than trivial, but it doesn't need to be the main topic, see WP:GNG. I believe that references 7-10 together provide significant independent direct coverage. The article seems on par with the average micronation lemma. However, if you still have doubts about the notability of this topic, I suggest posting at WP:WikiProject Micronations. List of tallest people[edit]

Hello, how are you in regards to article, John Aesan , List of Tallest People, maybe you can organize something, bro

What are you referring to specifically? ... discospinster talk 15:23, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Dartford Young Musician of the Year[edit]

Saw you PRODded it. Has been speedied a few times already. Brought it to AfD so it can be G4'd next time. Cheers, Yintan  11:02, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. ... discospinster talk 14:22, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Just FYI, but WP:A3 actually explicitly doesn't apply to articles which only have an infobox. I personally think it's kindof silly, but so far nobody's been able to find strong consensus to change it. TimothyJosephWood 16:45, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Thx. ... discospinster talk 16:49, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

See my comments at User talk:BouledeSuif and their recent edits to Ambrosius Aurelianus. I'm not sure what's going on with this editor. Doug Weller talk 10:37, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Seems like either a disturbed individual or a dedicated troll. I've blocked him/her indefinitely although I have a feeling s/he will be back under a different name. ... discospinster talk 12:52, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I wouldn't be surprised, but if they edit like that again they won't last long. Doug Weller talk 18:34, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
And they made a very literate unblock request. Maybe they were really hacked. It was turned down. Doug Weller talk 18:35, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Help to confirm if source is independent on my Article[edit]

Hello discospinster talk

Thank you for your review as it really helps to expand research on content and get acquainted with the Wikipedia platform as a newbie. Could you please verify if this link serves as an independent source to my article: Vanguard News and if it doesn't kindly give a pointer to this. I appreciate your time spent on this. Olusegun Ajakaiye (talk) 11:56, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Olusegun, the source you provided is certainly independent, as it was not written by the subject or affiliated with the subject. If you can find more sources like this, which discuss Mr Onuegbu significantly (where he is the main subject of the article), that would go towards establishing notability. ... discospinster talk 13:21, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

The Zenith Passage Notability Guidelines Approval[edit]

Hello discospinster talk! You marked the article I created for The Zenith Passage with the music notability guidelines tag. I have since cited many non-primary sources that are in fact displayed in the "news" link in the tag. Does that qualify the article as meeting guidelines now? EmperorQuingus (talk) 01:11, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes, it's improved, I have removed the notability tag. ... discospinster talk 13:14, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Monalika bhonsle[edit]

On what basis did you decide that Monalika bhonsle was a "test page". The article, when translated from Georgian, was about an Indian actress and model. Questionable notability, but probably sufficient to avoid speedy deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:26, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Looked to me like a test page. ... discospinster talk 17:29, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
In what manner? Remembering that being written in a foreign language is not, per se, a valid reason for speedy deletion. Did you try running it through Google translate to see what it said? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:23, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
A previous version was originally in English and then the editor blanked it and added Armenian. To me it looked like the editor was testing. ... discospinster talk 19:28, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Riaz Ansary[edit]

Hi, I ran this article through the copyvio checker and it came out 18% likely, only highlighting one paragraph. Did I miss something? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 19:55, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

The copyvio checker doesn't work because the page is run through some kind of DoS checker. If you click on the actual link you will see that both texts are identical. ... discospinster talk 20:35, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
I had problems getting onto the link, but it looks like it's all been taken care of now anyhow. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 21:47, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
