OK well, the Revision Deletion policy says that "Log redaction (outside of the limited scope of RD#2 for the move and delete logs) is intended solely for grossly improper content, and is not permitted for ordinary matters; the community needs to be able to review users' block logs and other logs whether or not proper. Due to its potential, use of the RevisionDelete tool to redact block logs (whether the block log entry is justified or not) or to hide unfavorable actions, posts and/or criticisms, in a manner not covered by these criteria or without the required consensus or Arbcom agreement, will usually be treated as abuse of the tool." Come on Discospinster, I'm a MFing ADMIN--how reliable do you want it? Hey, while I have your ear, I fully protected Fulanito for a couple of hours over some edit warring. You know music--can you have a look at the article? There was a contentious section which was one of the things removed in the war; I'm wondering if there was some involvement. I blocked one of the warriors, 740BOYZ (talk · contribs), for impersonation; please check me to see if I'm following the proper user name policy guideline there (I got that wrong before). Of course, if you feel like improving the article, that would greatly benefit the world of merengue. Thanks, and happy editing, Drmies (talk) 03:07, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
The relevant policy seems to talk about individuals' names, not group names. However, {{uw-softerblock}} addresses representations of being associated with a group, and also the conflict of interest issue. As for improving the article, I know less than nothing about merengue, as far as I know it's a type of pie. ... discospinster talk 03:20, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Unlike the pie, merengue is really good for your hips. Hey, one of the warriors left me a note; please have a look on my talk page, "Fulanito Dispute". Thanks again, Drmies (talk) 03:24, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I have reverted to a version that does not contain biographical problems. I suggest that when you make an edit, you use the edit summary box to describe what changes you are making. If you are making a major edit, such as removing a lot of text or any content with sources, discuss it on the article's talk page first. Otherwise another editor might think you are vandalising and remove your edit. ... discospinster talk 02:53, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Why did you delete my entry to List of Icelanders

I was wondering why you deleted my entry to list of Icelanders. In case you are unfamiliar, Iceland only has aroudn 300,00 people in it's population. Someone from Iceland getting his PhD at a world renowned university is notable and of interest to all Icelanders. Would that not meet the criteria as defined by Wikipedia?

Thank you for your time.

Brady — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:20, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia's criteria of notability relates to a subject's being significantly discussed in reliable sources. If there are newspaper articles, for example, about him being an Icelandic PhD student at Stanford, then that would make him notable. ... discospinster talk 20:24, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

with respect i think you could have handled the situation with user:shortmeets12 better; this was a new editor who was clearly trying to contribute positively to the project.

but first boris, then you as well, kept repeatedly slapping them down. and then you blocked them <10 MINUTES after your first message, which means you effectively gave them no time to interact with you before imposing the block.

boris at least also violated the 3-revert policy (as did the noob of course, who isn't expected to know better).

i've re-added the new image in the 2012 subsection, as we have no other material to illustrate it.

to me, this seems like a really obvious solution to the whole problem, & i'm sorry but i don't understand why you, acting as an ADMINISTRATOR, didnt try a more contrcutive approach to resolving this?

also, you have neglected to provide an expiry date in the talkpage notice for your temporary block of the user, please correct this?

i'm sorry if this message seems a bit harsh, but we are trying VERY HARD to encourage more new editors, & your actions here have not been helpful. you are an admin, & you took action here as an admin, therefore more is expected of you.

regards & respectfully yours,

Lx 121 (talk) 05:41, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Content factually incorrect

Hi there

I was hoping you could help me, I am the communications manager of this organisation on this page

We did not load this content, and it is not factually correct. We do not know the author and when I try to change it, I get warning messages that I will be deleted as an editor.

What do I do now? I am legally the owner of information on this company, it is also a listed company on the NZ stock exchange and therefore having incorrect content is a risk to our organisation.

We do not want to use the page for advertising, we just need to update the information to be factually correct.

Can you help me?

Crazyhorse edit

Hello Discospinster,

I am the current intern for Crazyhorse magazine, and I am the person who has been editing the Crazyhorse entry. The managing editor, Jonathan Heinen, wanted to add our history from the website he created to our wikipedia page. I see that you have subsequently deleted the entry, and would like to know why this was necessary. I hope that our work hasn't been in violation of Wikipedia policies. Thank you for your feedback. Hi there. Since the content that you added was a direct copy of the content at the website, it's considered a copyright violation. In order to allow the Crazyhorse (magazine) article to include the text, it would have to be offered at the original site under a public licence compatible with Wikipedia's (e.g. a Creative Commons licence). More information can be found at the page Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Note that you cannot licence it to Wikipedia only; since all of Wikipedia's content is publicly licensed, it can be copied and used by anyone else. Alternatively, you can re-write it in your own words. I hope this helps. ... discospinster talk 19:01, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
