Master Musicians of Joujouka image[edit]

Hi Could you please remove the image you added to the Master Musicians of Joujouka page as it is of a different band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A04:CEC0:1141:244F:8183:8385:287C:3A8E (talk) 13:22, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image placing[edit]

Hi Dolphyb, welcome! Would you mind placing the images that you add inside the infoboxes on the pages where there is an infobox? Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 05:02, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Leigh Ashton (museum director)[edit]

That image may well be of a Leigh Ashton, but it surely cannot be Leigh Ashton (museum director), as he was born in 1897. That shirt and haircut look far too modern. Edwardx (talk) 10:35, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edwardx Thanks for spotting it. but the question is when the image/picture was taken(as he was born in 1987 and died in 1983). anyway am still new here and i have alot to learn, so what do you advice i do here ? Dolphyb (talk) 12:42, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have replied at Talk:Leigh Ashton (museum director), so best to continue there if you have any more thoughts. Edwardx (talk) 14:23, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of images[edit]

It's always good to see images added to articles without them. A couple of points about adding them to articles about organisms that have no images already:

  • Normally add the first image in the article to the taxobox. In particular, never put an image before the taxobox, which is always the first item in the article.
  • The talk page of the article will likely have |needs-photo=yes (or some equivalent) in the wikiproject template(s). Please remove this.

Thanks! Peter coxhead (talk) 05:58, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peter coxhead thank you for your point. the first i understand it but the second point i don't understand it very well! would you throw more light on it please. Dolphyb (talk) 06:45, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, look at this version of the Prostanthera prostantheroides talk page. In this version, the displayed WikiProject Plants banner says "It is requested that an image or images be included in this article to improve its quality." This message appears because the code for the banner is {{WikiProject Plants|class=stub|importance=low|needs-image=yes}}. Once an article has an image, the |needs-image=yes bit needs to be removed, as I've done in the current version. Peter coxhead (talk) 07:55, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it now. Thanks alot Dolphyb (talk) 08:08, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just carry on the good work! Peter coxhead (talk) 08:30, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would still encourage you to update the Talk page "needs-photo" as Peter coxhead has outlined. As with my edit here. Thanks Declangi (talk) 07:37, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Declangi - i have been doing that in some of my edits but not entirely in all of them. Thanks for reminding me again,i will try to make the changes in talk page of every article that i edit. Dolphyb (talk) 19:07, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of images 2[edit]

Thank you for taking the trouble to find images to add to articles about species.

I just wanted to point out that images in taxoboxes don't necessarily need captions. Generally, a caption "should be provided if it can convey any additional information about the image, such as the sex or life stage of the individual, the location where the picture was taken, the artist (if an engraving or other illustration), or (for higher taxa) the particular species depicted." See the advice at Template:Taxobox#Images.

Thanks again. William Avery (talk) 08:47, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you William Avery for pointing that out cos i was kind of wondering that caption for an image is a must for every images in a taxobox and also am currently participating for WPWP this year for which will last from this month to next month ending, those in charge(Nigeria) emphasis of adding caption to every image you add to an article. Dolphyb (talk) 16:15, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in general we avoid redundancy in captions as we do in section headings. So it would be rare for the article title to be repeated in a caption. Peter coxhead (talk) 18:16, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Peter coxhead Ok, thanks for the explanation.

Your edit summaries[edit]

Hi, I'm concerned about your edit summaries, which are cryptic. In a summary like "+image#WPWP#WPWPNG", I understand that "+image" means that you added an image; but what does "#WPWP#WPWPNG" mean? This is not found either in the edit summary help, or among the commonly used edit summary abbreviations. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:36, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Redrose64 check out this page and also this, it has all the answer to your question.Dolphyb (talk) 22:07, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The first one says
  • Participants must include the hashtag #WPWP in the Edit summary of all articles improved with images in addition to a descriptive edit summary, for example "Improving with an image to infobox" #WPWP.
but you are not doing that. The second one is specific to Nigeria, but edits like this are nothing to do with Nigeria whatsoever. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:03, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Redrose64 you asked for the meaning of #WPWP and #WPWPNG so i pointed you to pages where they explained it so that you will understand how each came to be....Secondly they have various communities from various countries participating in the contest check this, like me am from Nigerian Wikimedia Community we have our own hashtag which is #WPWPNG,this is to identify ourselves and the communities/countries we came from .another example - Wikimedia Canada community with their own hashtag #WPWPCAcheck this --Dolphyb (talk) 08:32, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Point to Note[edit]

Just to let you know that your edits are not counting in the ranking for the WPWP contest, and that's probably because you are writing the two hashtags in your edit summary without the space character. You can verify that from here and here Osenibabalola0 (talk) 12:12, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Osenibabalola0 Thank you for that but i have a question, my pervious edits for this contest is gone just because i didn't put space character ? --Dolphyb (talk) 20:06, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, your edits are intact unless if they are reverted. But the bot that compute result for the contest is likely not able to count your edits for the final result Osenibabalola0 (talk) 21:34, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 24[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Climate change in Mexico, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Disruption and Annual. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:05, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you added a completely unrelated and incorrect image to an article. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dommartin-Remiencourt_station&oldid=970343755, as edited by you, is not an S-bahn station in Dortmund, which was the photo you used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cajmo (talkcontribs) 19:53, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If a species of marine inverterbrate has the same name as a cosmetics company, you shouldn't try to illustrate the article on the cosmetics company with a photo of the marine invertebrate. DS (talk) 03:19, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
