Welcome[edit]

Hi Donjrude. Unfortunately you picked an unencyclopedic article as an example to follow. I've now cleaned up the cafepress article a bit, but I suggest you seek out articles that get a lot of edits to see what kind of content and writing style is appropriate. If you want an article included here you need to build it around good sources. This means including content that is from reliable references. Conflicts of interest where people use Wikipedia to promote their own products or business is also discouraged. I'm not accusing you of that, I'm just letting you know. Good luck. If you have any question please post them here. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:11, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Much more useful than all the "speedy delete" comments, none of which seemed to notice that the article was not even a day old. At this point I'll happily make it live in my user space until I get a chance to finish it... at which point I think it will be notable. -- Donjrude (talk) 03:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"We don't take kindly to strangers". :) It's a question of volume really. But if you ask for help people usually step up. But there are just so many articles created every day, and so many put up for deletion that the discussions aren't very encouraging or constructive to new article creators (if they even find the discussion). The tagging of templates can be discouraging as well, and happens to all of us when we start out. There's also a lot of suspicion of new accounts that aren't well established. People often create alternative accounts for nefarious purposes, but none of these issues are good excuses. It's unfortunate indeed. I can't tell though if you're familiar with Wikipedia or not, your user page seems to indicate you use it with some frequency? If you are new, welcome. And if you're not, but I can help in any way let me know. Have you ever been to Seafood@West Main? That bread store around the corner on West main is divine. I've been a Wikipedia consumer for some time and I've tried to learn-as-I-go, but that clearly doesn't teach me the 5-pillars or other editing traditions/procedures. I have not tried the Seafood place or the bread store, I'll have to check them out. - Donjrude (talk) 17:29, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
