Moving chem articles
You probably want to move 1-testosterone to fix the name as well. Apparently you have to be and admin to do that, so I couldn't do it.

Acetophenone
I have been messing around on acetophenone (ACP), particular dueling with my own miscues (new keyboard) today. But I wanted to let you know that I reverted your repair of some persistent anonymous editor. The article is in pretty okay shape, the mystery editor insists that ACP is used as a precursor to styrene via hydride reduciton, etc, and lo it turns out that significant amts of styrene are made from ACP, blah, blah, blah. Hello Edgar, My name is Lillian Shields, You just recently deleted a page that was posted by a kittsee.They had the information from my web page all wrong, They vandalized my information, calling it the diniosis disease as i recall it.They lied and I am truely gratefull that you terminated the article! - I think an article on sulfonyl halides would be a good idea. There is already the recently created article sulfonyl chloride, which could be merged into a new sulfonyl halide article.

I was suprised that my article on Vera Ducas was so speedly deleted. Perhaps the life and death of one Jewish woman is not of interest. I was hoping to expand the article by including the names of two other Jews and the reports of a further three un-named who where killed by the underground in Palestine/Israel during 1948. It looks like you performed the most recent block of this school IP. That was back in April. Every month since, except for July-August, 208.68.153.177's talk page has at least one complaint or warning about its vandalism. IP indef block
Hey there - I noticed you blocked 70.107.45.254 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) indefinitely. While racist vandalism such as that may deserve a block without warning, per Wikipedia:Blocking IP addresses, IP addresses should almost never be indefinitely blocked. From my understanding consensus is that this means something like a WP:OFFICE or OTRS action. Personally, I rarely treat that type of vandalism differently in terms of block lengths, and would have only given 24 hours as the IP has never being blocked previously, although I can understand a longer block. Do you have a problem with unblocking and/or reblocking for a set period of time? Thanks, VegaDark (talk) 06:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- For racist vandalism, I generally don't wait for warnings before blocking; but, wow, I have no idea why that wasn't a 24 hour block. All I can say is that it was inadvertent - I have never intentionally blocked an IP address indef. I have unblocked the address now. Question on protocol
Hi Ed,
I represent ActiveCause. We help nonprofits raise money. We are currently assisting 70 organizations raise money through corporate partnerships. One of our staff members apparently created a page early last year which was deleted due to guidelines. I have no knowledge of what that article looked like. But we would like to create a new article that follows appropriate guidelines.
My question is - do we recreate a new article or send it to you for review first? I wanted to verify with you before I invest the time. We have plenty of objective 3rd party/ verifiable sources that we will include. Thanks for your time.

- You can look at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and see if you think your organization meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. To create the article, you do not need anyone's prior approval or review first. Just keep in mind that if any editor feels the organization does not meet inclusion criteria, they may nominate it for deletion. Alternately, you may also create a draft of the article on a user subpage (see Wikipedia:Subpages), and then ask me or any other editor to take a look and see what they think. It can then be moved to a proper article title at a later time. Finally, you may want to take a look at Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines first, though. - The article has been deleted three times by different administrators, each time because the article did not make any assertion of notability. You can take a look at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) to see Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion. If you can write an article about Consep that demonstartes that the organization meets these criteria (such as having significant coverage in reliable independent sources), the article will be kept. I made the mistake of saying originally that when R(L) and R(S) are phenyl it makes an indane/indene. This could be tough because they are suppose to be alkynes attached to R(L) and R(S). Although theoretically one could use benzyne for this reaction. Usually CO just does not insert making the product. I would like to fix this mistake if that is ok. Or if you had some other corrections.

- According to CAS, 3055-99-0 has the structure that matches File:Polidocanol.png (8 ethoxy groups) and 9002-92-0 has an unspecified number n ethoxy groups. "Polidocanol" is listed by CAS as a synonym of 9002-92-0, but not of 3055-99-0. PubChem lists two structures with the synonym "polidocol". One with 8 ethoxy groups, one with 1 ethoxy group (but PubChem is prone to errors). Just looking through Google results, it seems most chemical suppliers match the CAS# 3055-99-0, the synonym "policanol", and the structure File:Polidocanol.png (for example Chemspider or Sigma-Aldrich). My guess is that varying production/purification methods for polidocanol lead to mixtures of structures centered around 8 ethoxy groups, with the highest quality product being entirely 8 ethoxy groups. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:34, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

- If you are asking about a version of Club Cracker that I deleted last year, it was just vandalism. CMC Markets page
Hi there,
Thanks for reviewing the CMC Markets Wikipedia page. Apologies for the violations I have incurred as a result. As (I hope) you can see, I have tried to keep the article to factual information only and there is no inducement or sales message within.
My reasons for inclusion of the page are that CMC Markets is a global organisation and a market leader in it's field. There are references to our company on Wikepedia within a number of articles and I feel that the page can help to legitimise our business on the site.
Would you be able to give me a steer as to how the entry can be improved perhaps to a full company entry? I am happy to provide whatever content is necessary to ensure that the page is fully compliant with the governing rules. My experience with the Wikipedia site amounts only to this effort so any help would be greatly appreciated.

- You can have a look at related articles to see how that are formatted and what types of information they contain. At first, the article did come across as promotional to me, but it looks like another editor has already removed some of the promotional-sounding material. If you could include additional (reliable and independent) references to support information in the article, that would be helpful. You can have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) to get an idea of Wikipedia's inclusion criteria for organizations and then add referenced information that shows how CMC Markets meets these criteria. Also you might want to take a look at Wikipedia's guidelines on conflicts of interest, which seem to apply here. - I'm not sure what you're asking. Only a block on an IP address will have a "prevent account creation" setting. The March 4th block on R.T123456 would have had a 24 hour autoblock, but he should be able create another account by now. Hi Edgar. I seem to have made the embarrassing mistake of creating the page for this compound under the wrong name! Turns out that both 3-(p-Fluorobenzoyl)tropane and 3-(p-Fluorobenzoyloxy)tropane are known compounds with defined (but quite different) activity. So I moved the page to the correct name and posted a structure under the new name, but this still leaves the original page as a redirect and the original (incorrect) structure on wikimedia commons, does this matter? Apart from anything else I don't think the original name should be a redirect as they are not synonyms, they are two different compounds! Meodipt (talk) 01:55, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, it's an easy mistake to make. I have deleted the redirect and fixed links from the old name to the new one. - The text that I removed from the article was copied word-for-word from a website which is copyrighted. Wikipedia simply cannot accept such material. TV3 Medford page
Hi Ed,
TV3 Medford is currently undergoing an "evaluation" and was audited by the firm of Melanson Heath.
The individuals who refuse to let go of the TV station have posted multiple changes to the TV 3 Wikipedia page utilizing it like their own personal webpage, which isn't the intent of Wikipedia.
They have Dan Sarno - ISP #70.88.213.234 - posting the names of the self-appointed president, Frank Pilleri, along with other "board members" on the page promoting their propaganda. This is not a fair use of Wikipedia, is highly misleading, and they are deleting legitimate links to articles from the press in regards to the audit and the evaluation. They list themselves and control the Wikipedia page
TV3 Medford's staff promoting their agenda on Wikipedia
Please note that their webmaster, ZappTV, has also attempted to post the non-profit's authorized information and not objective information regarding the embattled station's history in Medford.
Shell Kinney did a decent edit previously that they changed.

- Usually, your user page is reserved for information about you (see WP:USER). When someone puts information about a company or organization there, it can come across as an attempt at advertising. It's probably best to use a subpage (see WP:SUBPAGE) for articles that you are working on. I've copied the material that was on your user page and put it at User:Beanbuff/sandbox. - My preference (and common practice among other admins) is to give short blocks at first, then to give longer blocks if the user continues the inappropriate behavior thereafter. Most people seem to get the idea after the first block, and often turn into more productive contributors. Chlogenic acid should not use the number system of quinic acid, right? Thanks for the response. I found that entry, but it didn't say why you deleted it, so I assumed I hadn't found the complete entry. The link you provide to A7 (explaining speedy deletion) takes me to a project about the military. I think Wikipedia is great for information, but I find it extraordinarily difficult to navigate and understand once you go underneath the covers (like here).

Aromatic ethers can be linear...
Hi Edgar181,
You have tagged quite a few of my structures with "Methoxy groups should not be linear". I had explained this earlier to another user somewhere. Aromatic methoxy groups and other aromatic ethers are always oriented perpendicular to the aromatic ring for steric reasons. If you look at the model from above the aromatic plane, the methoxies appear straight. I am a big proponent of retaining as many 3D structural features in 2D as possible without sacrificing clarity and correctness. We cannot use the straight orientation for carbon chains as this obscures the center carbon in skeletal structures, but I do not see a reason not to do this for aromatic ethers and I am not aware of any general rule not to do so. - I don't recall tagging images with that comment. Can you give me an example? I did find one that I commented "An ether is preferably drawn with a 120° angle" (File:Duloxetine chemical structure.png). In any case, please feel free to remove any image-quality tag I've added that you disagree with. I certainly won't object. I guess different chemists have different concerns about how best to draw a 2D structure. For example, I wouldn't mark images such as File:Acetyldihydrocodeine.svg as having the "wrong use of hashed bonds".
