Unspecified source for Image:Smumncally.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Smumncally.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Cavenba 18:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I see you tagged Public Domain and that it is under Crown Copyright. This is a contradiction. Crown Copyright is similar to Non-Commercial (if attribution is given), thus is a Copyright Violation. You may be confusing Crown Copyright with the government copyright system in the United States. Cavenba 06:18, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
As Wikipedia cannot have images that are "non-commercial," the only option would be for someone to make a free alternative (take a picture themselves). Cavenba 20:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello Lord of Haha, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:SmuCrestMar.gif) was found at the following location: User:Lord of Haha. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 19:01, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SmuCrestMar.gif

Image:SmuCrestMar.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Smuhuskieslogo.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Smuhuskieslogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

Hi Epistemophiliac! I noticed that you made mention of Michigan State University on your userpage. If you are a current undergraduate, graduate student or staff member there, I would like to let you know of an opportunity to become a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador for MSU! It is a great opportunity to gain leadership and teaching skills. For more information please go to: http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Campus_Ambassador

If you are interested in applying, please leave me a message here or at my talk page on Wikimedia Outreach. And please pass this along to anyone you know who may be in the area and who are interested! The deadline for the Spring 2011 Semester is Dec 3rd, 2010! --MichChemGSI (talk) 04:48, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Lord of Haha, Great! I, too, forgive you for your allegiance to a lesser school ;) jk.

Tehran Stock Exchange

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to review the article. I have a comment regarding the references: I think ALL the information is accurate. I have personally reviewed TSE (line-by-line). You won't find a book published by Oxford University Press talking in great detail about this stock exchange. TSE is what is called a frontier market and as such does not get much coverage in the Western media.

What I have done over a year is to gather info from local sources in addition to Bloomberg news, the Financial Times, BBC and the Library of Congress among other reliable sources. However, if you think an information might be inaccurate or biased please let me know but I don't think there is ANY. 68.197.144.38 (talk) 13:59, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I trust the information was good, and unbiased, I had just mentioned it was difficult for me to verify the information from the Exchange website itself (as I don't speak Farsi). Otherwise my only notes were more about, one piece that was not referenced (on mutual funds) and that it would be nice (but not required) that some of the graphs were updated.

Beyond that just as a general suggestion, it might make it easier for you to signup for a user account (not required but just a suggestion). 21:02, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks again for your broad review (user:SSZ). 67.85.17.129 (talk) 23:45, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Go Spartans, go turtles!

Hi fellow Wikian! Could you take a photo at MSU for me for an article? It would be a photo of a fossilized painted turtle (Chrysemys picta) from the MSU Natural History museum. I have already communicated with the curator and they will allow us to take the photo but do not have time to take it themselves. Are you up for this? Here is the article it will help Painted turtle.TCO (talk) 00:24, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Media and Telecommunication Policy project

Hey Chris, hope all is well. Just wanted to drop a note letting you know that I am the Coordinating Online Ambassador for the Media and Telecommunication Policy project/class, as of yesterday. I have added my username and information on the second row of "The TC 210 Team" section (look for the goofy South Park character), so the students can find me quickly. I have some experience with radio and television stations, along with their companies, so I can be of more assistance than just showing people where to go for information. My talk page is open 24/7 and I try to answer posts immediately when I am online and as soon as I see them when I have been offline. Please let me know if I can be off assistance. Take Care....NeutralhomerTalk • 07:40, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, my only question for the time being, is do you have a name you would like the students to call you by (and a blurb about yourself), so I can get the professor to send out a mass email, letting them know who you are. Epistemophiliac (talk) 16:56, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Ambassador Program: assessment drive

Even though it's been quiet on-wiki, the Wikipedia Ambassador Program has been busy over the last few months getting ready for the next term. We're heading toward over 80 classes in the US, across all disciplines. You'll see courses start popping up here, and this time we want to match one or more Online Ambassadors to each class based on interest or expertise in the subject matter. If you see a class that you're interested, please contact the professor and/or me; the sooner the Ambassadors and professors get in communication, the better things go. Look for more in the coming weeks about next term.

In the meantime, with a little help I've identified all the articles students did significant work on in the last term. Many of the articles have never been assessed, or have ratings that are out of date from before the students improved them. Please help assess them! Pick a class, or just a few articles, and give them a rating (and add a relevant WikiProject banner if there isn't one), and then update the list of articles.

Once we have updated assessments for all these articles, we can get a better idea of how quality varied from course to course, and which approaches to running Wikipedia assignments and managing courses are most effective.

Hi -- got your note; I'm looking forward to the class. I will be glad to help with anything I can, and please let the students know that I am looking forward to answering their questions and helping them figure out their assignments. I do have a fulltime job so usually can't post during the day (eastern time), but other than that I'm likely to answer quite quickly. Let me know if you have any questions about Wikipedia I can help with. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 00:37, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi Scott! It looks like you've had your first in-class meeting, judging from all the friendly "hellos" from students. How did things go? Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 00:42, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

POLS120 OA

I did have one query from Marc Thomas about the Jim Crow laws article; you can see the conversation on my talk page. Other than that and a couple of hellos, there's been nothing so far. Are there more pages I should watch? I'd like to add the student's pages to my watchlist and generally keep an eye on them, but have they chosen their articles and started work yet? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:34, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up -- I've added all those pages to my watchlist and will try to keep an eye on them. Please let me know if you need me to jump in anywhere! Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 18:04, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
