Vandalism to Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton & other country articles.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that IP user 71.15.43.155 has been going around the Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton and other country articles, changing chart positions and sales figures so that they are incorrect. They've also been adding sales figure tables which at best are completely un-sourced, and therefore suspect, and at worst, outright fabrications and therefore vandalism. I notice that you've already reverted a few if this user's edits in recent days, so I just thought that I should alert you to the extent of this user's disruption. I've just spent the last half an hour (at least) reverting all the destructive and disruptive edits that this user has made (see here for a list). This kind of thing is very annoying and a waste of everyone's time but I believe that this user will be back for more vandalism.

I also believe that this user is the same person as IP User 190.188.250.98, who's been doing the exact same type of vandalism to Cher related articles recently. I've also spent time today reverting this vandalism (see the list here). Anyway, as long as you’re aware of it, hopefully we can quickly revert any further vandalism that this person undertakes. Many thanks. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 13:10, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Good work, although I'm sceptical that a warning will do any good but we can at least try. Since you replied to my message, I notice that our friend has been at it again with the "Dark Lady" single amongst others (see here). I've reverted his work...hopfully this user will get bored soon and stop. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 18:42, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to give them one more day and if the vandalism continues then I think you're right, WP:AIV is the only way to go. I notice that their most recent spate of vandalism was mostly on Hank Williams Jr. articles that you created, like Major Moves, Five-O, and Montana Cafe for instance. Probably just coincidence but it does make me wonder if this is someone with a grudge. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 11:45, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Help with AfD Discussion

Hello Eric - not sure who I'm talking to, but I respectfully ask that you visit a couple of pages to see if you can help us with them, and if you'd be willing to join the discussion that is in progress on the related AfD pages. No Limit Kids - Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/No_Limit_Kids and Elevating Entertainment - Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Elevating_Entertainment I see you've done some editing on George Hamilton IV's page, and that's why I'm writing you. The label and motion production company mentioned have been involved in his career for many years, including casting him in his first movie role in 2008 and releasing a number of his CDs in the past 20 years. We've only contributed limitedly to Wiki, surrounding documenting the label and the artists associated with it ... and are not all that familiar with protocol and procedure on Wiki. We have never experienced this type debate on an article we've submitted so don't really know how to properly respond in the AfD.
If you feel you can't join in the debate, then any further suggestions on how we could respond further would be greatly appreciated. This is all new to us. Thanks for your time! Lrcee (talk) 21:20, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree

There is no source in the article for Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree that it was a number-one song on the RPM country chart. There is no source that either the preceding or succeeding songs within the succession box were number ones on the chart in the respective articles either. If it is easily sourced, please do so. Even if sourced, there really is no need to have links to other songs that have no relationship to this article, especially when both the ones before and after don't have them either. Thanks. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 04:06, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the sources and congratulations to carlossfsu for adding/creating all those articles. Having those articles, however, does not imply the need for succession boxes for every chart in every genre and every country for which a song or album reached number one. Even if there are going to be succession boxes, they are navigational boxes and they are useless if they don't provide navigation. As far as I'm concerned, removing a succession box because the preceding number one doesn't yet have an article is a valid reason, because you cannot assume the missing article will be created. When it is created, then the navbox can be added to the other articles, be appropriately linked and thus become more useful at such time. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 17:19, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
It depends how you look at the usefulness of the chronology within the infobox. Is it for informational purposes or navigational purposes? I look at it as informational, as it is coming from the infobox. An artist's navigational box, however, does not need to list every artist's album or single, if there are not articles for them. For example, Template:Kool & the Gang is nicely done with no unlinked or redlinked titles. So "Ladies' Night" is shown in the navbox, but "Too Hot" isn't, since it doesn't have an article. The infobox for "Ladies' Night" shows "Too Hot" as the next single by the band, even though it is not linked, because that is information related to the band's single releases.
Succession boxes are a different story. They are purely a navigational tool from one #1 to the next, with each song or album having no real relationship to the preceding or succeeding songs. It's not an award, an honor, or a title given to the song (things that are typically reserved for succession boxes) - it is just a ranking, which is usually already noted in the chart table. Now, if they're going to exist, which I still am against, how is a list going to be created to show which charts are allowed and which ones are not without it being biased in someway? I don't think there is any happy medium you can achieve, so it's really got to be all or none. And can we at least move the placement of the boxes to the bottom where they belong per WP:FOOTERS? They should not be given a separate subsection under charts. They do not belong in the middle of a page with its own section, whether it's #1 on one chart or dozens. The collapsed box also needs work, because what does "order of precedence" mean? Only #1's can have order of precedence? Based on that, you should be able to show the precedence of #2 songs, #3 songs, and so on? Thanks. Sorry for the extra long post/rant. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 19:57, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Placing succession boxes within sections where applicable was put in only due to songs like "I Will Always Love You" having different artists reaching number one, thus they may be placed at the bottom each individual version's section, but they shouldn't be placed within their own subsection under "Charts". Note as well that highlighting the achievement of reaching number one violates the neutral point of view policy, the same reason why boldfaced type of being #1 is not allowed in a table showing chart positions. WP:CHARTS also states that "number of weeks spent at peak position...may be mentioned within the article text." Basically, if someone wanted to create a list of #2 (or #3 or #4) songs, succession boxes for #2 songs, or categories of #2 songs, there's nothing to stop anyone from doing so without giving undue weight to songs reaching #1. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 20:15, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Good work yet again. I redirected Thunder Road (band) to the lead singer because I couldn't find a lick of info on Thunder Road and most of the article was information on David Thompson's solo career anyway. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Alan Jackson

How do you like the Alan Jackson discography split? I thought I'd be bold and do it and get it over with. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 15:18, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. And I agree with you. I didn't much care for it either at first, but I now I prefer it. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 18:45, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Martina McBride

What source? Her Billboard chart history only has "How Far" peaking at number 68. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 13:43, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, that's odd. I thought you may have misread it on Billboard, so I just wanted to make sure you knew about it being missing from the Billboard source. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 14:49, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
No problem, sir. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 14:52, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

P.O.T.B.

Just a pat on the back for being "Johnny on the spot" with the Rhonda Vincent update/rewrite today. I'd made a mental note to get around to it once the new album officially dropped today. Saved me a few min. Thanks! Sector001 (talk) 19:20, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Any chance I can get you to chime in here? Requested Move page has been up for a few days and nobody's touched it. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 21:44, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Randy Travis

Do you think you could possibly add a Whitburn source for his charted single as Randy Traywick? Here's the shortcut. Thanks in advance. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 22:22, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for both the source and for the complement. Face-smile.svg EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 22:50, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Crystal Gayle

I just finished revamping Crystal Gayle's singles discography, and I was curious to know if you have any idea of any additional singles that were released from any of her 1990s albums? It just doesn't look like they're all there. Thank you. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 03:50, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Alright thanks. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 19:17, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Blake Shelton - Red River Blue

I wanted to thank you for cleaning up the formatting of the "pre-order only" note I made on the Deluxe Version bonus tracks. I edited while not logged in and could not figure out how to get the "pre-order only" in separate parentheses. --Emgee1129 (talk) 03:39, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Will the Wolf Survive

Eric, I just created and article for the song Will the Wolf Survive and I found Waylon Jennings' version. I was wondering if you could add the version by Los Lobos? Thanks. David829 {talk) 01:05, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Shania discography

I cannot even believe that there is even an issue with the country peaks. It's ridiculous. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 02:13, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

No problem, you're very welcome. I see the editor asked a few of his "comrades" to comment, but so far, I don't see anything from anyone other than the three of us. I have a feeling that they'll all gang up on us and go on Ipodnano's side. Did you ask any of the country music editors to comment in on the situation? EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 02:24, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Umm I don't think so. I think that's pretty much the major editors in the genre. Which is quite sad that it can be counted on one hand. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 02:36, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
It's pitiful. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 02:44, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah no problem. I've been trying to help with getting the Canadian artists discographies formatted, too. But like you said, some of the Canadian Albums Chart peaks are extremely difficult to find. It'd be a lot easier if Billboard would add artists' entire chart history on their artist pages. Some of them have their entire history, where some others barely even have anything. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 02:53, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm done with this Shania thing. If I continue I'm going to end up getting blocked for an eternity for voicing my opinion. I can't do it anymore. I feel like I want to leave Wiki over this...I can't handle these users. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 14:43, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Well TPH brought up an important point. Ipodnano said there was still no consensus, when TPH said that myself, you, TPH, Caldorwards4, CloversMallRat, and Novice7 have provided reasons to keep the positions, over like two or three others who disagree. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 15:33, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Ipodnano clearly said that there is 5 for keeping the positions and 4 for removing them. Is that not a consensus? Sounds like one to me. I've left one more comment on the situation on the talk page. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (contributions) • (let's chat) 00:26, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

The Complete Limelight Sessions

The fact that it charted and has an article means nothing. It is still not an official release. Please read WP:DISCOGRAPHY. People can access it since it is in her navigational template if that's what you're concerned about. The Madonna and Christina Aguilera demos also have articles and they are not added. WP:DISCOGRAPHY doesn't lay out a lot of guidelines, but that is one of the points it clearly emphasizes. I definitely think that's strict. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 03:26, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Johnny PayCheck

I was wondering why you removed the original biography from the page. You listed it as a cut and paste, this is true. That was my fathers official biography. I find it hard to believe that someone outside my family would know more about my father than me. I would really like some sort of explanation.

The current revision isn't far from the truth but there are parts missing from fathers past without the official bio.

I added a few more changes to the page, I will probably cut and paste back a few items from our website www.johnnypaycheckmusic.com

I do appreciate your efforts, but I am still curios as to the deletion of all the information before.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpaycheck (talkcontribs) 18:58, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Monty Holmes

eric,

I apologize, but I'm new at this, so i'm asking for a little help. You have deleted my addition of Monty's bio for copyright reasons and I guess I'm looking for a better understanding if what I need to do...specific citations? Are there specific things I should chandler, cite, or delete?

Thanks,
