Using templates

[edit]

I noticed you just wrote "Main: Wood flooring" in the floor article. This is normally put in using a template like {{Main | Wood flooring}} which gives

it is worth having a look to see if there is something like what you want elsewhere in an article and have a look at it using the editor, and if it uses a template to copy it. A description of a template is got on its page e.g. for Main at template:Main. Don't be too worried by this though, people are happy to clean up if the information is there, content is the important thing. Dmcq (talk) 12:09, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

We have to use our own words rather than copying from some book or site. See WP:COPYVIO. I have reverted your changes to Wood flooring because much of it duplicates whats on the site [1]. Dmcq (talk) 20:15, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didn't see that what I thought was new text was just moved around and the site I was looking at was copied from an old version of Wikipedia. My apologies, I have reverted my reversion. Dmcq (talk) 09:26, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Casino, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. Categories must also be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. --McGeddon (talk) 09:20, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I think Casino should just be in "Gambling" and not "Problem gambling", though, as casinos themselves aren't a form of problem gambling, just a place where it can be indulged. It'd be like putting the Whisky article into the "Alcohol abuse" category. --McGeddon (talk) 09:23, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message on my talk page. Don't worry, we all make mistakes as we learn how this place works. Welcome to Wikipedia! --bonadea contributions talk 13:09, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Explaining

[edit]

I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all. DS (talk) 00:30, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
