|Due to RL commitments I'm going to be intermittently offline. If you came here regarding a deletion, then please ask another admin or use WP:REFUND. For all other matters, feel free to leave me a message. I'll try to pop in once or twice a month to answer queries. Thanks, FASTILY|
Hey there Fastily - I got pinged by your bot about File:Vanguardstitch.jpg (which I uploaded in 2007, as a novice user). It didn't list a source, which I will add but here's the thing about indiscriminately deleting these files - which this episode illustrates. Here is a file (low-res newspaper scan) that has a clear and correct fair use rationale, and in fact the rationale infobox itself states the likely copyright holder "copyright for it is most likely held by either the publisher of the newspaper or the individual contributors who worked on the articles or images depicted".
So I happen to still be active since 2007, and checking my talk page. But it is quite possible that I would not be, and even though the image is totally legit, and the particular source doesn't matter because it is covered under an accepted wiki fair use guideline, it would have been deleted needlessly.
I don't know what the solution here is (maybe a little more logic around noticing fair use rationales or something and changing bot behavior accordingly) but it just seems like this is a recipe for needless deletion, whereas a more tailored approach would save good content.
- Hi Vivisel. FastilyBot does not nominate files for deletion; it sends deletion warnings on behalf of other editors. I'd suggest getting in touch with the editor who nominated File:Vanguardstitch.jpg for deletion, @JJMC89 -FASTILY 01:32, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
I wrote a query a while back : https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/20698 Is this the same as what your bot is doing, because it means I can retire my manual efforts if it is. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:10, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi ShakespeareFan00. To some extent, yes; FastilyBot maintains Wikipedia:Database reports/Local files with a duplicate on Commons. Human review is still necessary because of the number of inappropriate/malformed transfers. -FASTILY 04:25, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Can you summarize what did this now deleted (Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2017 July 8#Template:CopyrightedFairUse-DPRK) template say? – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 20:48, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
