This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Mary Lou Fulton College of Education, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.asufoundation.org/LinkClick.aspx?link=173&tabid=126. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. ASU Colleges[edit]

Hi Forkemdevils. As I assume you are an ASU student/staff/faculty, you've probably heard about the reorganization that took place at the beginning of the school year. The College of Human Services and School of Global Management (and a few others that I've forgotten) have been dissolved. Human services simply doesn't exist anymore, and Global Management was merged with the WP Carey school. For all of the info see this news story: ASU Reorganization. I see that you've been working hard on creating new pages, but some of them will probably be deleted (specifically, pages for colleges that don't exist anymore). -Nicktalk 22:39, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Crowasu.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Crowasu.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems with File:Kush.JPG[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Kush.JPG, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://flickr.com/photos/lylescott/2616985280/. As a copyright violation, File:Kush.JPG appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Kush.JPG has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at [[Talk:File:Kush.JPG]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at [[Talk:File:Kush.JPG]] with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on [[Talk:File:Kush.JPG]].

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. McMillin24 contribstalk 21:46, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: ASU images etc.[edit]

Hey there. I made the svg images by using the eps source files from the ASU communications guide and opening them in Inkscape, a free vector editor. You can do similar conversions in the GIMP or Adobe Illustrator and there are some command-line utilities as well. And thanks for catching the acreage errors--I was in a bit of a hurry. :)

As far as images being deleted, images to Wikipedia must be free (as in uncopyrighted or licensed under a free license). For images you add to Wikipedia either

  • You must own the rights to the image (usually meaning that you created the image yourself),
  • You can prove that the copyright holder has licensed the image under an acceptable free license,
  • You can prove that the image is in the public domain, or
  • You believe, and state, a fair use rationale for the specific use of the image that you intend.

For the logos, no free alternative exists (there's only one way to convey a logo). This is why they're acceptable even though ASU owns the trademark to them. However, images in the State Press (and most images on Flickr) are fully copyrighted by the respective entities, so we can't use them. But there are usually good, encyclopedic, free images available if you look hard enough. For instance, you could write to ASU's Office of the President and request that the official portrait of Michael Crow (inside this zipped file) be released under a free license for use on his article. You can read more about how to do that here.

Flickr images are sometimes released under a Creative Commons license, you can search for only images with this copyright using the advanced search (towards the bottom, you can specify "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content" and "Find content to use commercially"; both have to be checked for use on Wikipedia). You can learn more about this option here.

Thanks for listening and contributing, and let me know if you have any more questions. I'm not the most active of editors, but I've been editing for quite a while so I think I'm fairly familiar with most of the policies. --McMillin24 contribstalk 23:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
