AMA Member Advocate,

There's a poll currently in the AMA Homepage about making a new AMA Coordinator election. Please, cast your vote there (though it's not mandatory). Any comments you have about this, write it on the AMA Homepage talk page. Cheers, --Neigel von Teighen 18:43, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Proposals for AMA Membership Meeting[edit]

As AMA Coordinator I am requesting that suggestions be placed on Wikipedia:AMA Membership Meeting plans for our first membership meeting, to be held in the near future, (hopefully before any election occurs.) Since we have never had any kind of "official" meeting we need to discuss how this will occur (i.e. Wiki pages or IRC channel), how it will be structured (i.e. meeting agenda) and if there will be any "chair" to supervise the meeting and meeting "secretary" to write up minutes or keep some kind of official record of what transpires. Thanks in advance for your input and your continued work as an advocate. — © Alex756 20:38, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Logs of first AMA Membership meeting[edit]

You may view the log of the first meeting on the following two pages: Wikipedia:AMA IRC Meeting log (1-23-05) (first hour) and Wikipedia:AMA IRC Meeting log (1-23-05) Pt II (remainder of meeting). If you are interested in commenting on the agenda of the meeting please do so here:Wikipedia:AMA Meeting (suggested topics).

"The second AMA Membership meeting will be held on Sunday January 30 2005 at 19:00 UTC on freenode IRC channel #AMA. That is 2 PM Eastern NA Time, 11 AM Pacific NA Time, and 8 PM Central European (Amsterdam/Stokholm/Warsaw/Venice) Time. All members are invited to attend."

The coordinator is requesting that members submit the following information for the upcoming coordinator’s report:

  • How many individuals did you help as an advocate
  • What is the maximum amount of time you put into a case
  • Do you feel your work as an advocate was successful?
  • How can the advocacy program of the AMA be improved?

Thank you. Please submit your responses here: Wikipedia:AMA Coordinator/January 2005 Survey

Suggested Topics and Specific Proposals[edit]

Suggestions for topics/proposals and agenda to be discussed at the next meeting are to be found at: Wikipedia:AMA Meeting (suggested topics). All members are requested to make proposals there and respond to proposals on the talk page there before the beginning of the next meeting so discussion can be held forthwith concerning such proposals. Cajamarca, Peru - Ransom Room[edit]

Hello! I've reading your contributions to several wars and thought maybe I can have some peer review from you on the article concerning Inca Atahualpa of Peru and his capture in Cajamarca's Ransom Room (where the Spaniards fought the natives there and executed Atahualpa during the conquest of Peru). Whenever you have time maybe you go over the Ransom Room article and help expand it a little if you think it needs corrections of some sort. I thank you in advance! Best wishes, --Dynamax 19:37, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi again. I'm sorry... I thought you were Albrecht, since on such user's discussion page he has a link to your user talk page. Something like "And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on My User talk Page." ... and such link took me to your user talk page. --Dynamax 07:08, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

AMA Meeting Proposal[edit]

Hi! I put together a proposal for another AMA meeting that I'm hopeful you can chime in on. --Wgfinley 20:15, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

stop with the merging already[edit]

Please stop putting merge notices on earthworm. If you have material to add, please do so, but having already shown that you are not aware that "Lumbricus terrestris" and "earthworm" are not synonymous terms, please approach the subject with some humility. Well researched information, on the other hand, is always welcome. – WormRunner | Talk 06:31, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

Start with the merging already[edit]

Hi there! You nominated a school for VfD... however, these tend to generate lengthy and unproductive debates. Please see Wikipedia:Schools for argumentation. If in the future you decide a school article is inappropriate, please consider merging it rather than nominating it for deletion. Yours, Radiant_* 10:07, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

Cup of tea test[edit]

X zoology[edit]

Hi. I've seen your work on the zoology of some species (especially that of frogs). It's a really good idea, because we're lacking in that content (esp. physiology). Plus it's great for people looking casual information. But I really think your articles should integrate better with the top article itself. Zoology is an extremely general term, so much that the top article X itself is the zoology of X. After a while of "wikipedia-evolution" the top article and your articles will start duplicating content. Not to say I 'm not pleased, your template could become a standard for all general animal groups. Also, realize that in current biology a group such as frogs only has vernacular use. Because of this, your article tends to generalize too much, and so not everything in it applies to all frogs. I don't know enough of frogs to weed out the article, however. Phlebas 13:01, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)

Grasshopper Page[edit]

Why was the photo gallery on the grasshopper page removed? I can see no reason why the photos on the old page (Grasshopper) shouldn't be included in the new version. That photo from Image:Greengrasshopper.jpg is useless compared to the old ones. --Fir0002 10:45, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski)[edit]

Dear all,
Wikipedia was recently a subject of intensive research of an huge international human right organization. A team of people from different nationalities and ages were acting on Wikipedia for 20 days, investigating previously noted anomalities of Wikipedia free editing and forming a final report, which (between the others similar reports) will later be a guide to all future moves of the organization concerning Wikipedia. Acting under an account of a real person, their privacy is to be held private. Therefore, very few private information will be revealed.
Also, this is a result of the lack of final possition of the organization concerning Wikipedia and human rights, which was still not formed.
The team's final post on Wikipedia, where they explain their actions can be found on the following addresses:
The team would like to thank to all the persons who took part in the correspondence with us.
We also want to appologise for keeping our identity secret for a longer period.
Best regards,
Aleksandar, Biljana, Asparuh, Christos, Valjon, Michael and Ana Luiza

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

Non-free use disputed for Image:Steller School Logo.gif[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Steller School Logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Look! A userbox...[edit]

Hello! I was bored and making userboxes (I know, I have weird ways of filling time) anyway, I made userboxes for all the different colleges in AK. I was running through the list of Wikiproject AK members to send them notices and I happened upon your userpage. Just for grins, and because it seems like a really neat school, I made one for Steller too. Here you go:

AfD nomination of Alaska Teen Media Institute[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Alaska Teen Media Institute. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alaska Teen Media Institute. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
