Selene image[edit]

Can we please discuss your recent edit at Selene? Paul August 20:07, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- I don't understand why should that image be removed, it was always there, and was changed many times, I think that the image has to be current, you need permission first, maybe the current image is the image that has to be present all the time.

I think that this image:

Is better for several reasons. It shows three of Selene's attributes: crescent moon/horns, raised cloak, and torch. You are looking straight at the figure (instead of up) and I think it is a more pleasing shape. Why do you think the statue of the Roman Luna more appropriate here in the article about the Greek Selene? Paul August 19:25, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying that your image is inappropriate, but the previous image of Selene does show her moon crown, torch, etc... and is better seen from below, that image was removed a lot before this new image was suggested, I think that the creator of the image, the article and the rest of the users all agree that the statue of Roman Luna is more appropriate and it represents both Greek Selene and Roman Luna at the same time, I once changed that picture myself with the new one, but it has been changed back, so I think that most users prefer the Roman Luna statue image.

Hard to tell that the thing Luna's holding in the Roman statue is a torch. I also think that having that caption will confuse some readers making them wonder why we are showing a "statue of Luna" instead of Selene? Paul August 10:00, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can always remove the caption, that image was always there, it's actually Selene and is used as Luna's statue aswell.

Ok, we can leave this image for a while, but I am certain that someday a new image will be suggested, like they did with Helios' image.

Ok thanks. Yes hopefully a better image will someday be available. I might prefer an older Greek representation. Paul August 14:31, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
