Piracy Issue

Im getting quite sick of how people always undo what im doing. Every time i check up on that page, there is always that section and normally it would be okay if it simple obeyed by wikipedia rules-neutrality, spelling etc. undo it again and ill delete every last sentence on that page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick-Legend-Editor-Rules! Piracy

Listen, buddy, no disrespect or anything but if u think im doing something wrong by correcting the page by removing the piracy issue, ur an idiot. it has bad spelling, exaggerations and on top of that it aint neutral. what would it be like if i went onto another page and said THIS SHOW SUCKS? do you get it yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick-Legend-Editor-Rules! (talkcontribs) 00:28, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

lol i was joking. i dont really need to get a conseus with other editors to delete that part. it is obviously not applying to wikipedia rules and unless someone wants to correct it, it should be erased. simple —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick-Legend-Editor-Rules! Jimbo Quote

Quite honestly I don't care what Jimbo may have said in one context at one point in time (He says many things, often sensitive to a particular context and often he says something completely different a year or two down the line). We have various standards the community holds to formalised as policy. If Jimbo (or anyone else) wants to change those policies then they can do what we generally do, establish a community consensus for such a change. I'll draw your attention to point 3 of m:Foundation issues - "The "wiki process" and discussion with other editors as the final decision-making mechanism for all content." not "what Jimbo says".

I'll note what Jimbo didn't say is "ignore the core policy of verifiability" (or indeed the other core issue like neutral point of view or no original research) which requires reliable sources, though I'm sure If I dig I'll find him telling you that WP:V is non-negotiable. Which in the context of why you are posting that to me, is exactly what you are asking me to do, "turn a blind eye to the lack of reliable sourcing". --82.7.40.7 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:34, 7 June 2009 (UTC).

Indeed - from here "I really want to encourage a much stronger culture which says: it is better to have no information, than to have information like this, with no sources. Any editor who removes such things, and refuses to allow it back without an actual and appropriate source, should be the recipient of a barnstar". --82.7.40.7 (talk) 10:00, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

About Chai Ki Dukaan

That page would be updated to talk more about the Tea Stalls and Chai Ki Dukaan's in India. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prashantbhardwaj (talkcontribs) 17:24, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Chai Ki Dukaan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Prashantbhardwaj (talk) 20:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Aurora country club I have nominated Aurora country club, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aurora country club.

I am including this page becuase it is listed among A W Tillinghast list of courses. Please reinstate this page so that a proper discussion of the page can be had. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sam004 (talkcontribs) 16:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I posted a worthwhile edit. I provided verifiable backup information--information that is at least as valid as most of the other posts in the thread. And people here insisted on deleting it, yet leaving the other unsubstantiated posts. If that's the way it's going to go, then seriously, the entire listing should be deleted as unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.132.232.13 (talk) 13:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Re:Help

That was quick! Well, I was sort of astounded at the variety of wiki-break templates. I discovered that there are three or four different vacation templates, but none pertaining to camping... so I I was going for something like "This user will be camping from 'date' to 'date'" with a green background and a picture of a tent. But once I got to the vacation3 template, I was sort of overwhelmed. Could you help me, step by step if possible? (Not necessarily now, just sometime...) Thanks for your response. Hey,

Just wondering. Can and How can I change the color of a template?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 01:54, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I am trying to turn {{Template:Camping}} a green.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 02:05, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Gordonrox. First thing, since others may want to use that template, you should change the dates from being specific, since not everyone will be gone at those specific dates, so you should change the template to: " from [[{{{1}}}]] until [[{{{2}}}]] " so the people will be able to put {{Template:Camping}} then put a |whatever date "1" should be, |what "2" should be etc. Second, to change the background color of the template put "|info-c = #008000" in your template. You can also read here for more information. This should work. You can also talk to us here.--Cubs197 (talk) 03:01, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Your Comments on AlWasl Club Page

Dear Gordonrox24, I have read your comments on a page that I am working on, AlWasl Club, where you have marked it for deletion.

I would like to ask you to give me some time, as this page is still under construction and it will take time until it takes shape. That is the reason that I have not linked it to any other pages nor any categories. As soon as the page is in a "representable" stage, I will be working on linking it to other pages and categories.

Thanks for your concern.

Jaber

The aim of adding a AlWasl Club article in addition to the Al Wasl FC article, is that the club is a Multi-Sports Club. Al Wasl FC is the article for the football club section of the club, while AlWasl Club is the main club's article with the history and overall details. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaberm (talkcontribs) 16:07, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Spotlight

Hi there. Hopefully you'll remember me, from my trying to help you; well, now it's my turn to ask for help.

I'm trying to help re-launch an idea called "Spotlight". The notion is to select an article and work on it collectively, via live discussion, for one week. If lots of people get involved, it can work really well; in the past, the project died off through lack of participants. Anyone can help out, because that's the whole point - we have many and varied skills, but between us, we can do amazing things. So - please join the channel, and add yourself to the participants in WP:SPOTLIGHT. Thanks for your time!  Chzz  ►  22:27, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Sources quoted

I just came across the tag that you placed in the article Siddharth Bhardwaj. Enough sources have been quoted and the question of adding more references does not arise, considering the length of the article. I do not understand under what circumstances did you tag the article. Discuss the same Nefirious (talk) 15:45, 10 July 2009 (UTC)15:45, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I put the tag up because there are no references that meet WP:CITE or WP:Inline citation. I couldn't tell which piece of information each Source was supporting. References should be set in footnotes using the <ref>Blahblah</ref> and {{Reflist}} format, not listed. Thanks for the note!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 15:52, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

I'll take care of the inline citations my friend. How does the article qualify for a cleanup tag ? I would be grateful if you give an elaborate explanation. Nefirious (talk) 16:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

The cleanup tag was placed mainly because of the infobox which has pretty much nothing in it and because of the sources list, which is not up to Wikipedia's par of a decent article. If we can get the inline sources fixed up and the info box in tip top shape the tags can come right on down. I'm not so sure how much more I can elaborate as it is such a small article.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 16:24, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

According to me, the cleanup tag is not needed and I have a far better and elaborate explanation with me. The inline citations are in place and so neither of your tags qualify. Thanks anyway Nefirious (talk) 16:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: The galkin venue

Hello Gordonrox24, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (The galkin venue) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific to protect the encyclopedia, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! SoWhy 20:06, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey. I listed that as a test as it did qualify for WP:A7 and WP:G11. As it was the editors fist and only contribution I figured it was a test article on the creators part. Thanks for the note!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:35, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Many articles that land in CAT:CSD are the first contributions by editors and most times the only ones. If the content can be identified as A7 or G11 worthy, use that. Actually if it does not sound like "buy our product now!", use A7 rather than G11 which is actually quite strict. Regards SoWhy 21:43, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Sure thing. Actually, as I look at the article now, that one was not a WP:G11 at all. It was most certainly an A7. I will be much more careful in the future. Thanks once again!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:51, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Closure of RfB

Hi - thanks for your message. While User:Juliancolton's RfB showed the level of consensus which would probably have led to a successful RfA, the level of consensus expected for a successful RfB is considerably higher, and I considered that it did not meet this higher bar. I don't take the bare number of supports over opposes into account; 158 more editors supporting then opposing could equally indicate (158/0/0) - a unanimous endorsement - or (558/400/0) - clearly not a consensus. There is no fixed percentage required, as the closing bureaucrat is expected to weigh the discussion as a whole and the individual contributions to it, although as a general guideline from experience, RfBs with more than 90% of comments in support are likely to be successful, and those with less than 85% are unlikely to be. On Twitter, you (or someone with your name) claim to be a "roblox user, Wikipedia moderator". Is this a mistake? -- Soap Talk/Contributions 15:37, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey soap, no this is not a mistake. Roblox is a kids game that I was previously an avid user of. When I decided to dedicate more time to wikipedia instead of roblox, I told the people at roblox that I would be becoming less active there, so that I could spend time patroling and helping out on Wikipedia. When they heared that, they said "So it's kinda like your moderatring then". I chuckled and said yeah whatever floats you boat. They are all just kids and most WP concepts are way over their head. I was pretty sure I put quotaion marks around Moderator to show it was in inside joke, but I guess not. If you think it is a problem I can easily remove it. Thanks for the inquiry!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 16:26, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Your signature

Is there any particular reason you have the date stamp of your signature emboldened? It seems unnecessarily distracting in threaded discussions where bolding is generally reserved for headers and points of emphasis. Lara 18:09, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Because I often forget the date? No, There is no real reason whatsoever other then I like it. Why does your username have nothing in common with you signature?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 18:14, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the talkback notice, but I don't really have a reply. I expressed my concern in my first post, and you didn't really address it, so... yea. Lara 18:45, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Gr, for your information, and info you could find for yourself: that's LaraLove, a longtime user and admin with many many thousands of productive edits who decided to change her username to Jennavecia quite a few months ago. I have no idea why she decided to change it (and I dislike unamechg's) but she's evidently since decided to keep her previous persona. You are incorrect, when Jennavecia signs as Lara, her username has everything in common with her signature. Why? Because she has earned that right and experienced people know who Lara is and what uname she's using.
That's not my point though. I encountered you early in your wiki-career and I see now that after your last 3000 edits and two failed RFA's that you still present a defiant attitude in the face of any questioning. Your answer just above is the same as the ones you gave me several months ago - you imply that it is the other person who must be wrong.
Please take this in a friendly spirit. Rather than look for what is wrong in the questioner, consider whether you can improve yourself. In this case, it was a good-faith attempt to persuade you to make your signature more normal in the date portion. Does your bolding of the date contribute anything? And more generally, please don't take everything as a challenge which you must surmount. Sometimes, people are actually trying to help you. Franamax (talk) 19:58, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
And I don't need a {{tb}} template either, ahould you respond here. Franamax (talk) 19:59, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
I am sorry, I don't know the background of every admin on WP and have no interest in learning who's name has been changed to what as it is not important to my job of building an encyclopedia. I had no answer to the question asked, so answered it with a valid question of my own. I don't see this as being defiant. I don't think Jenna did either as she didn't mention it. I know she is an admin, I respect that but have no intention of discontinuing asking difficult questions just because an editor has the tools. I have no patients for you, as when I was a young editor, I only got criticism from you. In a time when I needed guidance and assistance in learning the ropes of wikipedia I got grief.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I meant to answer that question. Not sure why I didn't. My first name is Lara. Many editors know me as Lara because, as Franamax pointed out, my original username was LaraLove. I changed it just because I wanted a change, though many people continued to call me Lara, which I actually prefer. Therefore, I sign using my real name and I include my sig on my userpage so that others who should come to it from my old sig will see the new and make the connection. That said, as you've had at least a couple of editors (not using "admins" as this isn't an administrative request) bring up the bolding in your sig, would you entertain the idea of removing that bolding and having a regular timestamp as everyone else does? Lara 23:53, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Yep I would have no problem with that. Thanks for your reply.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:57, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
  • There we go. I believe that is all fixed.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:09, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
It's unfortunate that you would still be nursing a grudge. I'm looking at that discussion now, and what I see is my honest effort to help you become a better editor. You were new to things and I was trying to help you get up to speed. I try to do that with every new editor I come across. Too bad that you would see it as such a horrible experience. Anyway, thanks for fixing up your sig! Regards. Franamax (talk) 06:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
The above seemed unnecessarily confrontational. I wish I'd answered the question in my first response to avoid the need for someone else to chime in. I do appreciate that you've removed the bolding, Gordonrox. Thank you. :) Lara 06:18, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks Laura.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 11:57, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Off Wiki but Wiki related help

Hey, I have a question about a Wiki that isn't part of the MWF but still runs on MediaWiki software. If I put an e-mail address on a page, and now want to remove it and hide it so you can't see the revision in the history what could I do?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 23:50, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

You would have to have an admin delete the history.--Cubs197 (talk) 23:53, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello. If you're an admin, you would delete the page, and then undelete only the revisions you want kept. Killiondude (talk) 23:54, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Alternatively, if you needed it to be very well hidden, you would need the edits oversighted. Not certain about how that would work on your other wiki- you'll have to contact an admin there. J Milburn (talk) 23:56, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, but say that the e-mail address has always been up there. From the pages creation. If I delete and then restore, I will have nothing to restore as it will all have the address on it. Am I right here or wrong?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:05, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
You are probably right. Hmm.--Cubs197 (talk) 00:08, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Could I make an edit just adding a space or whatever, then delete, and restore only the most recent edit?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:19, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Also, I am not able to get onto the IRC channel. Does anybody have any suggestions for that as well? I used to be able to but cannot get there anymore.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
What client are you using? Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:29, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I am editing using Firefox and Google chrome. I was on the channel once before and I forget how I got there.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Hmm... you might have uninstalled Chatzilla, which is the Firefox-based IRC client. If you've got that installed and updated, clicking on a link, such as #wikipedia-en-help connect, should open the channel. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:34, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yep you are right. I was just looking through my files and I can see that I have uninstalled it. Thanks for that. Now all I need is help with the question above.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:35, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

You're right; all that has to be done is you have to have a revision of this page without the email. I can delete the rest. It wouldn't be oversighted, so administrators could still view it, but you're pretty much guaranteed privacy that way. And, if the history is ever needed, we can look into it for you. How does that sound? Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

So would I have to delete the whole page and then restore the one edit, or could I just delete the old history keeping the newest revision? I know this seems weird, but it is just a little something I am working on.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'd have to delete the page and restore the latest revision without the email in it. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:45, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok thanks for your help. I should be good from here!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:46, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok! Just give me a shout when you want it deleted, if you do. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:51, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Out of interest, and prob a useful bookmark;re. that hard-to-encode URL?

I found a website that appears to fix 'em, here. Stick the complex URL in the box, click the 'URL-Safe Encoding' and Viola!

Handy bookmark. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  05:28, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh great! Yeah that would really help! Thanks for the tip and I'm glad you got the links to work.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 11:50, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: ACC

I am not going to unsuspend your access. We should not be handling requests reserved by others without good reason (such as the person reserving leaving it open for hours WITHOUT explanation). NuclearWarfare and Matt still appeared to have reason to keep it open (telling by the comments/suspension reason, he was still waiting for an email from the requesting user before creating). Also, the editor that marked it as handled (NuclearWarfare), commented on the request mere SECONDS after you marked it as done, telling you not to create it (although it was too late). FunPika 13:11, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

# Gordonrox24 commented, None of his accounts have created any trouble. As Matt said, I will AGF and create the account. at 2009-08-17 02:08:01
# NuclearWarfare commented, Please do not, without waiting for Matt. at 2009-08-17 02:08:48

Roblox Talk Page

The talk page on Roblox looks cleaner now. But if you need to archive anything, archive it and do not archive the one with a bunch of sources. I look for sources in my spare time because of the lack of reliable sources. Thanks! Jeremjay24 msg 13:16, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh yeah, wanna have a page that says "List of Catalog Items in Roblox" and have a whole graph of items (except models and places, lol) on the page? We could also on the catalog, have a ====Text==== that says Items and it could show in italics "Main article: List of Catalog Items in Roblox". How about that? Jeremjay24 msg 20:22, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Gordonrox24. You have new messages at Jeremjay24's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Pictures

We should add a picture in game (for example Ultimate Paintball (however it may be considered for deletion REMEMBER THE PICTURE GOT DELETED AT GODS OF TIME? I'm still mad!)? Jeremjay24 msg 14:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey. I will look into it, but I am not sure screenshots are covered by the fair use clause.I will put a question in.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 16:50, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
