So called notable players

Whether or not WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, WP:OR and WP:POV not what an encyclopaedia should give space to. There is a discussion at WP:FOOTY. Kevin McE (talk) 17:32, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Re your message at the Footy talk page, I would suggest that if you do not understand what an abbreviation or a policy means, that you read about it at the link I so generously provided ;@)
If you really need me to spell it out in full (although I note that you are not a newcomer to Wiki, so it shouldn't be necessary), I will. Although there might be pages in Wikipedia that give examples of the bad practice under discussion, an encyclopaedia should not be made up of unverified statements that a particular editor might think to be true or unsourced opinion as to who is more notable than anyone else. I don't see why anything I wrote should not be understood by anyone familiar with the English language and Wikipedia; but as to your "RTFM", I haven't got a clue. Temporary injunction and your use of my monobook script

Hi Govvy,

I have to let you know on your talk page that ArbCom has announced a temporary injunction against the "mass delinking of dates". You can still delink dates on an occasional basis; however, you may wish to be cautious and use the script only for its non-date functions until the issue is resolved by an RFC poll. You may wish to express your view on autoformatting and date linking in the RFC at: Wikipedia:Date_formatting_and_linking_poll.

Regards Lightmouse (talk) 22:08, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you add a birth date to Buddy Rose's article. Have you got a source for it? I haven't seen one in all the obituaries/profiles/what-have-you being done, so I was wondering where you got that birth date from? I have reverted your edits until a source can be provided. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 08:20, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Interesting. Thta's a new addition to his OWW profile. It wasn't there when I checked last time, which was the day he died. Anyway, apologies for that, and sorry for causing you more work. Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 11:24, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Tottenham season 2008-09 refs

Hi, Saw your point on the wikifootball project talk page and just to let you know, I updated all the publisher parts of refs, thfc/tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs.co.uk etc is now Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Official Website, (the same for other club websites) and bbc.co.uk etc is now BBC Sport (and the same for other news companies). hopefully the page can get rated again now because I really think it is a lot better than C-Class, anyway, cheers Prem4eva (talk) 15:06, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Zokora

It's been displayed and announced on the Sky Sports News tv channel since the transfer was announced, I've been trying to find an internet source which agrees, but they all seem to air on the undisclosed side, if it comes to it I might screenshot the tv channel if I can. Prem4eva (talk) 17:11, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Here is the Pic, was actually £8.62mil, so just changed it on the season page Prem4eva (talk) 18:40, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Double Links

say me what's the problem of double links??

i don't understand, other pages of football players have many link example: Lionel Messi, Rafael marquez, Cristiano Ronaldo, etc...

say me what's the problem

-.-!!

in the other pages this don't affect in anything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mexican Master (talkcontribs) 19:18, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Gilberto

About Gilberto, I'm a bit on the fence at the minute, because although it hasn't been announced by Spurs, the cruziero official website have announced it, [1] with a quick (internet) translation saying: "The president, Zezé Perrella, announced in the morning of this Friday the contracting of the lateral-left back Gilberto, that was in the Tottenham, of the England" so I don't know what is best to do at the minute. Prem4eva (talk) 21:54, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Berchiche

It took me by surprise too, the espn page says he is now a valladolid player and on the official valladolid page, in the B team, they have a defender called "Yuri" now, he is listed on the List of Spanish football transfers summer 2009 with this source, --> [2], so pretty sure it is done, Would have been a lot easier if spurs had just announced it, but there you go. Cheers Prem4eva (talk) 10:10, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know, spurs finally confirmed this transfers [3], (only 3 weeks late) Prem4eva (talk) 00:41, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Bent transfer fee

Cheers, hadn't seen that stock market announcement yet, sensational business btw Prem4eva (talk) 17:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it's something to be proud of, we spend a lot of money every year but we are one of the few clubs not in debt (and we don't have a billionaire in charge, ready to pull the plug and turn the club into leeds), say what you want about Levy and his ways, but he is a very good businessman, we got our money back for a guy that had 2 poor seasons, which is unheard of really, (look at keane) so hopefully we spend it well now. Prem4eva (talk) 17:51, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Opinion

A User Wong.William added this to the main season article part a little while ago:

"In conclusion in the asia tour, the team created a friendly image to the asian fans. The team had no body guards throughout the trip.Fans can easily found them in the airport, hotel ,training gorund and shopping mall. The fan got signatures, took photos or even had a short chat with the players. And the conscious spurs fans didn't cause any disorder to the team or the public."

Judging by his username, he might know this from first hand experience, I don't know whether to leave this in, I like it and i think it adds a bit more about Tottenham and the asia tour, but its unsourced and people could judge it to be very POV.

Any thoughts? Prem4eva (talk) 12:09, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Fixtures

Well, Football DataCo's rationale is that they use a specific formula to determine which fixtures should be played when, and the effort they put in allows them to claim intellectual property on the fixtures produced. Obviously, once each fixture is played, it becomes public knowledge and can be reproduced by anyone. – PeeJay 00:28, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

You couldn't be more wrong. If you want to reproduce the fixtures of the Premier League, Football League, Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League before they are played, you need to pay Football DataCo an exorbitant amount because the fixtures are copyrighted. What you think about the situation is irrelevant. – PeeJay 12:39, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Jamie O'Hara

Hi. Fair call on this. I agree that there should be consistency. I use refTools to add citations and it defaults to the YYYY-MM-DD date format and, although I prefer DD MMMM YYYY, it's easier to stick with the default so that's how that happened. What's the rationale behind setting the publisher to "Tottenham Hotspur Official Website" though? I don't see any need for the last two words, especially with capital letters. Cordless Larry (talk) 15:03, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Luka Modric & Vedran Ćorluka stats‎

Yeah, you're right, I put the date back to 1st June, I thought it made it look like he joined Liege straight away when he was released but I suppose that is something for the liege page, cheers Prem4eva (talk) 11:25, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Spurs task force

Sorry for replying so late, having a look at the Wikifootball participants it doesn't look as if there are too much spurs fans about and there is also the activity of the people on the list, that is hard to tell, so I don't think there are enough regular spurs fans on here to do a task force for us sadly, but near enough all the spurs articles are looking decent at the moment, so not all bad, cheers Prem4eva (talk) 16:50, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Could you tell me the players used in that season because I want to put these in the Players Used section including Top scorer and Most appearances. I would be greatful for this. Mr Hall of England (talk) 14:01, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Who scored at PNE. If you know could you put it up please. Mr Hall of England (talk) 20:38, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

YYYY-MM-DD format; footnotes

FYI -- there is a discussion at [4] as to whether or not to allow the use of the all-numeric YYYY-MM-DD format in footnotes/references.

I'm mentioning it to you in the event that you would like to join in the discussion or follow it, as I recognize that this is an issue you have been interested in in the past. Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 08:16, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

AfDs

Yes, of course I'm adding them to the deletion archive, why? Have a look at that page's history...GiantSnowman 10:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

They're organised by month, that should be enough IMO. GiantSnowman 11:03, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Have a read of Wikipedia:Non-admin closure to see what AfDs you can and can't close; then read Wikipedia:Deletion process#Articles for deletion page which tells you how to actually close them. Oh, and make sure you specify in the closing statement that its a NAC. I've done a couple of NACs myself, so if you need any help let me know. GiantSnowman 11:13, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
It's not as bad as you think! Just follow points number 3, 5 and 8 of the closing guidelines, and you'll be fine! GiantSnowman 11:27, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Three more AfDs that have been withdrawn - one, two, three - fancy doing the honours? GiantSnowman 12:18, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

WP:HERTS

Hey there.

I've recently posted on WP:HERTS and User:Simply South's talk page about the possibility of bringing the project back to life, and if so how we would go about this and what we would do. I was wondering if you would be interested in getting involved? I think we have a small but dedicated and diverse group of editors, including editors with interests in geography, football, transport, mills, politics, music and history. If we could bring these talents together I reckon we could produce some fantastic work on some of the project's key areas, such as Hertfordshire, History of Hertfordshire, and the county's larger settlements.

Personally I believe the key to successfully bringing together the efforts of editors with interest in anything remotely Herts related will be to maintain at least a semi-active talk page at WT:HERTS, so feel free to give any thoughts you have there. Also, don't be afraid to be bold if you feel something to do with the project can be changed for the better. Regards, WFCforLife (talk) 20:58, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Your Message and my explanation

Hi there. I got your message, and even thoguh it pained me to get rid of it (personally, I thought that section was the best in the whole article), I had to because it was entirely unrefenced and the reason why I didn't add any ciatations was because 69.181.227.133 was grilling me over the references I added so I couldn't help but I might reconsider bringing it back. Secret Saturdays (talk to me) 00:47, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Cudicini - Italian caps (i.e. none)

The website that is referenced doesn't actually show that he played. There's nothing in the column that says presenze (appearances) for a start. Plus Buffon and Toldo played. It's possible that Cudicini was called up to the squad, but I guarantee you he didn't play in it nor feature on the bench and remains uncapped for any country - hence why he's eligible for England still.

The line up for that match:

Italy: Buffon (46 Toldo), Birindelli, Zauri (74 Ferrari), Cannavaro (64 Legrottaglie), Iuliano, Di Natale (79 Pancaro), Di Biagio, Perrotta, Nervo (74 Pirlo), Del Piero (64 Di Vaio), Vieri (46 Inzaghi)

I'll try and track down a decent source, but believe me, he's uncapped.

--Herbolzheim (talk) 15:34, 20 November 2011 (UTC) The article Spark (computer game) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This material has not been attributed to independent, reliable sources. This is important as homebrew games are rarely notable. Propose deletion per WP:Verifiability policy and WP:Notability guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Talk Page content

Prod

I've been asked to detail the proposed deletion a little further, with respect to our guidelines on clones (of Attack Retrieve Capture in this case?)

  • If Spark is verifiable through reliable, independent sources, that would be a start. At the moment we only have a primary source (Spark Stuff) and the Sierra citation which is not directly related. Once verified, a clone would normally be mentioned in the parent article. WP:Verifiabilty is policy.
  • If the sources show that Spark has had significant coverage - reviews in magazines, for example - then a seperate article is justified. This is based on our WP:Notability guideline, but there are other possible criteria as well.

I hope this clarifies. Marasmusine (talk) 18:30, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Govvy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Synagogue in Potters Bar

The following local newspaper report from 2009 says a new synagogue was being built in the centre of Potters Bar: http://www.times-series.co.uk/news/4820693.New_synagogue_building_for_Potters_Bar_town_centre/

The report also states that the exact location was not being disclosed for security reasons. This explains why the exact address cannot be found on Google and also why the synagogue operates through a P.O. box. I was not able to find the synagogue on Google Streetview but it seems pretty certain that it must exist. Dubmill (talk) 10:28, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Jared Jeffrey‎

Hi, I'm not sure if you're aware but in Germany, reserve teams of larger clubs are allowed to compete in the senior football league system. FSV Mainz 05 II compete in the Regionalliga Südwest, which stands in the fourth tier of German football. Hence, it is correct, in principle, to include Jared Jeffrey‎'s FSV Mainz 05 II stats in the infobox. But, as there is no source included to support them, I'd support their exclusion for the time being. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Indeed, and I've found his stats using Soccerway. I've added them into the infobox, alongside a career stats table. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:59, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
