Wall Street Network

All articles on Wikipedia must be either properly categorized, or tagged for the attention of the categorization project so that they can categorize it. Category:Microsoft stubs does not count as proper categorization, as it's a "stubs" category — it's for Wikipedia maintenance, not for user browsing, which is why the tag explicitly says that the page needs categories in addition to the stub category. The {{uncategorized stub}} tag must remain in place until somebody has added a real content category — and if you remove it again, I'm going to lock the page so that you can't edit it at all. Hi , Gregory Heffley. I wanted you to know that I declined your speedy deletion request at Jake Semple because WP:A7 does not apply to fictional characters. You may wish to review the criteria for individual speedy deletion tags. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 23:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Wimpy kid.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Wimpy kid.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 02:50, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Shortcuts

Hi, re this edit - please note that wikilinks are case sensitive, and that shortcuts are normally all capitals. So, wp:dev, as used in this template, is a redlink - but WP:DEV would have worked. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:00, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

What's the purpose...

Of this comment? Not helpful, whatsoever ... and you've now done nothing but confuse a new editor. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 23:12, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Wikipedia Rollback.svg

Hi Gregory Heffley. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY (TALK) 02:20, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Userspace

Sorry, but people can't have spam there. If there is already an article on the (alleged) subject in mainspace, and the text in userspace includes a telephone number, that's spam (have a look at WP:ARTSPAM). Thanks for being supportive to a newbie, though (no, I'm not being sarky - I do approve of helping and have tried to help the wrong ones a few times myself...). :) Peridon (talk) 19:08, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Pay careful attention to how things work

This question has no meaning to a new user. Please note on the rest of the examples on the page that the typical question is along the lines of "Can you describe the copyright status of the image(s) that you wish to upload". For the second time, you're merely confusing a brand new user. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 20:19, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

I was coming here to ask you what is your purpose in asking generic "is it free?" questions at the "Request for Confirmed" page, but I see the issue has already been raised. And yet, a day later, here you do the same thing. Reading the context, and looking at the lead image in the Mr. Peanut article, it is patently obvious that the image will be subject to copyright and will require a non-free rationale. You are not adding value with that sort of question, which everyone already knows the answer to. Please make sure in future that you are asking helpful questions, rather than putting up bureaucratic obstacles for new editors.

I'll also note that you seem to be a quite new editor yourself, and while we are definitely happy to have you around and working on maintaining this quality encyclopedia, some things are better handled by editors with more experience in the area. This is particularly true with our very newest registered editors, who may need lots of help settling in here. I do appreciate your interest in the area, but please familiarize yourself with policies, include links to helpful policy, guideline and help pages, and above all, make sure that your contributions will be of material help to brand new editors. Franamax (talk) 22:00, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Gregory Heffley, I reverted your (non-admin closure) here. The user has twelve edits but the account was created today and does not have the four day requirement. Please be careful when making edits such as this one. Thanx Mlpearc powwow 23:46, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

With respect, please stop removing the {{dfu}} tag from this image. You can dispute the tagging by talking with User:Masem or raising points on the image's talk page, but removing the tag without changing anything else is inappropriate. I have reverted your removal.

Note that I do agree with Masem's tagging of the image as disputed fair use. The rationale states as purpose "to use". This is woefully inadequate, failing WP:NFCC #8. I encourage you to read and understand WP:FURG to assist you. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 18:08, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

  • The rationale as specified is "to use". Again, that is woefully inadequate. I recommend you reread WP:FURG. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:37, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Closure of AfD for Foster Natural Gas/Oil Report

Please see WP:NotEarly who, when, and how may close AfD discussions. In case of Foster Natural Gas/Oil Report criteria for speedy closing by non-admin is not fulfilled. You also added to this article references which actually does not verify information which was marked for needing citations. Beagel (talk) 22:46, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Please do not use copy-paste moves. If you can't move the page yourself, please use requested move template. As this move was contested earlier and the page was moved back, it needs requested move discussion anyway. Beagel (talk) 23:01, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

I hate to say this

Gregory, I admire your desire to be an advanced user on Wikipedia. For most people it's a real learning experience. I might suggest that you want to stay away from some of the more "admin-y" type actions for a bit, at least until your experience level with a whole whack of policies has improved a bit. You're welcome to glance through some of the documentation in new admin school, and practice some admin-type functions (obviously without a few buttons). However, there's a lot of policy you need to understand before you do non-admin closes, among other things. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 23:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Weird. For me, it works.Greg Heffley 18:41, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Can you post a link here that goes directly to the working video on YouTube, then? Perhaps it can be used directly instead of via that site, although a video seems like a convoluted way to confirm simple facts about a company, don't you think? Delicious carbuncle (talk) 18:57, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

You user talk page banner is disruptive as it, at first, gives the impression to me that I had a new message. Secondly, please read WP:UP#GAMES. In addition, the banner also seems quite "MySpacey" — please remove it. HurricaneFan25 00:41, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Android

Hi. I can see that you're enthusiastic, which is great, but you're leaving a bit of a mess behind as you edit. For example, you moved the Android version history article and created Wikipedia:Peer review/List of Android operating system Versions/archive1 to go along with it, but this article already had a perfectly good peer review under the old title at Wikipedia:Peer review/Android version history/archive1 and link to the new title (or possibly moving the peer review as well) would have been fine. Shortly after, someone corrected the capitalisation on your page move and you created yet another page for this (Wikipedia:Peer review/List of Android operating system versions/archive1). This was unnecessary and these are things that other people are going to have to clear up. Please slow down just a little and take a bit more care with your edits. My talk page is available if you need help, though I am not online 24/7. Thanks. – Steel 02:21, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
