Book moved to Further reading[edit]

Three book reviews are needed for an article about a book. If you are interested and need further help perhaps you might contact wikipedia:Norway. 89.8.24.12 (talk) 14:08, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

I think you may be confused; this was my edit, which doesn't move anything into the "further reading" section. Did you mean to notify someone else? grendel|khan 18:24, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Datei: Andreas Baader[edit]

You are the Owner of this picture i Like to have it in the german Wikipedia. Please give it free.--Luckystreik (talk) 12:04, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I only uploaded that image (Andreas_Baader.jpg); I don't own it. You'll have to do some digging and find out who does, if you want it to be freely licensed. (I don't know that the German Wikipedia's fair-use policies are.) grendel|khan 21:06, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited If You Were a Dinosaur, My Love, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John C. Wright (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please claim your upload(s): File:Espirito Santo Map with Cariacica Municipality Highlighted.png[edit]

Hi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{Media by uploader}} or {{Presumed self}} tag(s) if present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons.

@Sfan00 IMG: Oh, nuts. I just converted an existing BMP to PNG; you can see the deletion request I made here, but the actual deleted file page seems to not exist even in the archives. (It was twelve years ago, after all.) Maybe a dev can help out with that? grendel|khan 21:39, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
You could always ask an admin. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:44, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
@Sfan00 IMG: I am an admin; unfortunately, I can't see page history for the deleted filename, which makes me think that there's a problem with it having been deleted so long ago. The image is unused and likely can be easily remade as a vector graphic (using something like R's GIS capabilities, which I'm in the process of learning). grendel|khan 23:51, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
@Sfan00 IMG: Aha! The maps were originally uploaded by User:Kurogawa; see, e.g., File:Map of Espirito Santo with Capital and Neighbour States.PNG. Again, they could probably stand to be remade as prettier vector maps. (No shade on the original uploader; it was twelve years ago and we were told not to upload full-resolution images at the time.) grendel|khan 16:54, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Can you update the {{information}} blocks (or add them) appropriately? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:55, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
@Sfan00 IMG: Done! (Properly, I hope.) grendel|khan 17:03, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection[edit]

Padlock-blue.svg Hello, Grendelkhan. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
