'Avoiding bias'
[edit]Just out of curiosity, do you consider this post of yours to be compatible with 'neutrality', and with 'avoiding bias'? AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:27, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- I retract that statement. GrinningIodize (talk) 16:29, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Non-negotiables
[edit]Special:Diff/1363500532 Wikipedia has some non-negotiables, and one of them is: don't advocate CP. You seem like a genuine editor, and I could believe I'm taking your words out of context, so I'm not sure you need to be blocked for that edit. But you were riding the line very closely. CP is wrong. It is immoral. And yes, we do block people who express contrary views. We have a zero tolerance policy. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:07, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- I do not advocate for CP, and I personally oppose it, but I do not believe that my morals (nor anyone else's) on this subject ought to be absolute. Furthermore, I did not express my personal views in that revision, and I specifically stated that discussing them was beyond the point of the topic at hand. Finally, as I stated in my comment, the issue is censorship of machine learning models, not CP.
- I would like to request that you, and by extension all others, refrain from discussing the morality of any form of pornography on my talkpage, when doing so is avoidable. If you wish to discuss these issues, please do them somewhere else. GrinningIodize (talk) 19:14, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- I agree. We should refrain from those discussions. Which is why I want to issue a necessary and clear warning: further
rhetoricstatements like Special:Diff/1363500532 is likely to get you blocked. Barkeep49 (talk) 22:22, 10 July 2026 (UTC)- What rule am I likely to break or currently breaking by posting the alleged rhetoric? GrinningIodize (talk) 22:24, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- I am happy to change rhetoric to statements and have done so above so that we can get out of the realm of "alleged" because it is not allegation that you wrote Special:Diff/1363500532. Wikipedia:Child protection would be the policy basis for sanctions. Thanks for asking and I am glad I could provide this clarity so you remain unsanctioned. Barkeep49 (talk) 22:40, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- At no point have I advocated for romantic or sexual relationships between adults and children, nor have I used Wikipedia as a tool to pursue or facilitate them, nor have I identified myself as a pedophile (I am not one).
- It is my view that any sanctions made in the name of the child protection policy against me would be fundamentally-absurd considering these points. If you can find an instance where I have, with reasonable certainty, contradicted any of the statements that I have made in this comment, please alert me to them.
- I do not think that it's constructive (or effective) to try and find rule violations in comments that do not contain them, and I would like to request that Wikipedia administrators (including you and CaptainEek) avoid doing so when considering my statements (not to say that any of you have done so), here and at the Village Pump GrinningIodize (talk) 22:51, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

@CaptainEek Upon further review of WP:CHP, I don't see anything about advocating for CP. Am I misreading this policy or is there another one that I should know about?
- Edit: I retract this question.

New page reviewer granted
[edit]
Hi GrinningIodize, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 23:51, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
