Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism. Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable. Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created. Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one. Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Edits to Monaco articles

I don't understand your changes to the Hereditary Prince(ss) succession boxes. Perhaps you could explain your edits at Talk:Hereditary Prince of Monaco, preferably with sources? L?opold

FYI, Leopold is written without diacriticals in Dutch. Leopold III was descendant of a German nobility clan, related to Queen Victoria (the English one), married to a Swedish princess. That is, before WWII, during which period he married a Flemish girl. There's no preference to write his name either with an accent (diacritical) on the "e" or not in English (e.g. Encyclopaedia Britannica writes it without, and that's probably what English monarchs would have done at the time, unless adressing him in French). As you might know half of the country where he reigned spoke Dutch, writing his name without the accent.

So, this is a case about POV when changing from one way of writing it to the other (while indeed, the other half of the country wrote it with an accent). In this case, as usual for spelling questions, the spelling of the one who started the page has to be followed, see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English. Since I was the first to use a French/Dutch ambiguous word on that page, that would be me, and it's not the kind of changes you performed that helped wikipedia advance.

In case you wouldn't have guessed, I'm talking about this change, which additionally mixed up the footnote reference (while "ref" and "note" tag of the same footnote should have the reference written *exactly* the same way, see wikipedia:footnote3). So I'll have to change your edit to make the "ref" and "note" tag of the second footnote on the Republic page match again.

Article titles of Chinese people

Article titles of Chinese people should not have diacritics in them. Right now articles on Chinese people and places do not have diacritics. WhisperToMe 04:07, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Fair-use images

The rubric in the template says that magazine covers can be used by Wikipedia under fair-use rules to illustrate the magazine; I read that as meaning that they can't be used to illustrate people (as in Anne Parillaud. auto infobox colors

Can you stop changing these please? All the infoboxes for different topics are color coded. The auto ones do need changed, but to the automobile standard color specified at Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles/Layouts. If you're going to change them, change them to that. All the infoboxes are color-coded, different for each topic. i.e. all the automobile ones are supposed to be white on dark green, orange on black is music albums, saints are black on yellow, etc. See Wikipedia:Infobox. --Jamieli 23:52, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Lincoln Table Colors

Simone Veil president?

Hektor -- are you certain that Veil is not being mentioned as a presidential candidate? I seem to remember recent polls and articles which have said this.

Well she will be 80 in 2007, and is still a member of the Constitutional Council. I have not seen any mention of a possible candidacy from Mrs. Veil. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me a very far stretch.Hektor 22:24, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Quite simple, they take a sample of 1000 to 1500 people, with the usual representativity of the French population, and they show them a preliminary list of maybe 150-200 people selected beforehand and then they ask them to classify them according to their preference, then they make the total according to an algorithm to get this list. Hi. Regarding the several pages on the issue of Kuwait's Emir. Please understand that yes, Sheikh Saad did abdicate, however it is not official that Sheikh Sabah is the new emir. We cant publish information before it happens. I reverted most of your edits, but please feel free to declare that Sheikh Sabah is the emir once he is officially sworn in as emir. Hi, once again you're jumping the gun. Saad has only been NOMINATED emir, has not been voted in by congress yet although it is scheduled soon, and has not taken the oath of office. Furthermore, Sheikh Saad had agreed to abdicate, and although there was a vote to remove him from the position of emir, he was not "desposed of" as you stated in the National Assembly of Kuwait page, he had made the decision to abdicate with the influence of members of the Al-Sabah family. -Zer0fighta 21:30, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Following someones suggestion that was opposed by me, you moved Audi R8 to Audi R8 Race Car (1999-2005) resp. Audi R8 Road Car (2006-). When I reverted, you reverted back. Recently also User:208.46.78.226 supported you - coincidence? Forgotten to log in? Sock puppet? Image copyright problem with Image:Tub.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tub.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Olympic highlights days

For the dates, I've been using days of competition - thus, by this article from day 1 of the games (the day after the opening ceremony), the opening ceremony does not get a day moniker. This was supported on day 2 at the talkpage of 2006 Winter Olympics by stickguy, who then changed the headers. Since then, I think we've been the only ones to change it back and forth, so I'm hoping we can come to a resolution without seeking others. Naw, I don't feel that strongly about it, though I did just change it back again. Concerning Sochi

You reverted my edit in 2014 Winter Olympics regarding the climate in Sochi. Googling for Sochi and tropical certainly isn't a proof; you can google for Sochi and temperate to get the opposite result. According to BBC Weather, the average conditions in Sochi look very much like those in Paris. Is Paris subtropical?

• Where do you take that spacefacts is a commercial link ? why do you allow in this case to put link to Imdb for each movie with this kind of rule ?

1. Spacefacts adds no value to the article — especially in MS's case, since there's no new information there.
2. You've also gone and added it to a number of articles, which is frowned upon at Wikipedia, since it does seem to indicate some sort of "advertisement drive".
3. Also, as I said above, off-site content is (per definition) useless to a print edition of Wikipedia.
4. Re IMDB: That's like asking why we add ISBN numbers to book articles. I do not condone IMDB, but for film buffs it is considered an "authorative" source, whereas spacefacts does not (at first glance) seem to be. Google for "astronaut information" and compare it to "film information".

Expedition 13

I don't understand why you removed Marcos Pontes from the list of crew members. The news reports linked to from the article and from Current events include him. My question has been answered on Talk:Expedition 13. I'd like to apologise to you at this point for using the admin rollback on your edit to Expedition 13. I thought at the time that your edit might be vandalism, and my thinking was influenced by the sockpuppet categorisation of this talk page. I now accept that your edit was not vandalism (although I am not convinced it was correct). I suggest you edit the accusation of sockpuppetry on this talk page to remove the category, as it appears to be without foundation and leads to casual visitors here to draw the wrong conclusion. Indeed I'd prefer you remove it yourself. Well with 13000+ edits I have run into remarkably little trouble so far. A guy who was not happy about an edit I did about a German car he likes put the sockpuppet thing (an error of mine, I forgot to connect before I edited, because the computer I was using was not accepting cookies). I thought it would look even more suspect if I'd removed it myself.

Regarding expeditions, here is my point. The Expeditions are Governmental flights by astronauts who are from the International partners of the International space station and which are governed by the Intergovernmental Agreement of the ISS. The flight of Pontes is a commercial flight which is paid by the Brazilian Government directly to the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos (It is written here). So Pontes is travelling WITH expedition 13 but is not part of expedition 13. It is very similar situation to Roberto Vittori (ESA) with Expedition 11 and Gregory Olsen (Self-funded) with Expedition 12. Hektor 10:31, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

• EADS SPACE has been renamed "Astrium, an EADS company" to align with other companies of EADS which each have their own name (Eurocopter, Airbus). EADS SPACE Transportation is now Astrium Space Transportation and the former EADS Astrium is now Astrium Satellites. For some reason (?) EADS SPACE Services remains unchanged. I've reverted your edit again, for two reasons:

1. The reference you gave says the changes wont come into effect until July 1st.
2. It clearly states "The new group will now be called EADS Astrium instead of EADS Space."

Criterion list

Hektor, I love that you look after the page but please don't go jumping the gun. I've seen so many "reliable" reports or rumors on titles and numbers go wrong; we're not trying to beat any other site to the punch here, especially given that this is an encyclopedia. Wikipedia:Verifiability is far more important - even more so when many people may have doubts about a project created on a wiki. I'd far rather that we be two months behind but totally accurate in what we've written as compared to a week ahead of an announcement and occasionally wrong. Let's just keep what's on the article to what the site publishes; it makes citation reliable if we need it, and should Criterion fail to deliver anything they announce, we can point to a reputable reason why we added a title. EADS Space

Hello again. I don't speak German so the benefit I would get from reading the German Wikipedia is limited! As you know Wikipedia(s) can be edited by all, so that someone else has made the same mistake doesn't make it correct. As I have said there is no evidence that the companies have been renamed. In fact there is only evidence to the contrary; here's a press release from EADS Astrium from June 2006, here's one from EADS Space from May 29 2006 in which it details the organisation of the group: "EADS SPACE, a 100 percent subsidiary of EADS.... spread over three subsidiaries: EADS SPACE Transportation.... EADS Astrium ... and EADS SPACE Services..." This is correct, your assertions regarding "Astrium, an EADS company" or "Astrium Satellites" are incorrect. Mark83 12:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

• What is the probability that two different people have made the same mistake, word for word, in two different countries, at the same time ? I repeat my statement, EADS SPACE has been called now "ASTRIUM, an EADS company", with ASTRIUM in all caps. When and if EADS change their names I will even help you change it, but is is factually incorrect to change the articles at the moment as they are correct by all EADS documentation. Talbot Tagora photograph

Hello Hektor! I am a member of the WikiProject Automobiles, and the members of this WikiProject were recently informed that it might be questionable whether we can use car brochure and press photos as FA images in articles on cars. This made us start a small initiative consisting in trying to contact various car owners, enthusiasts and clubs to ask them whether they could release some photos of (selected) more exotic/historic vehicles to public domain via Wikimedia Commons.

Of particular importance is getting a Talbot Tagora picture, as the article is currently as Featured Article Candidate and cannot pass without a proper free photo. I have tried to contact various UK-based Talbot/Simca/Chrysler enthusiasts and clubs, but as of now, to no avail (even though I got some really favorable responses and nice photos of other cars from other sources I contacted). So, I think another source of such photos could some French enthusiasts and clubs - alas, I don't speak French (and barely speak English, as you may see) and there are apparently no French-speaking WikiProject members.

I have decided to turn to you, as I have seen you have been edited French-car related articles, and you have also uploaded some nice photographs to hape appropriately illustrate France-related topics on Wikipedia. As you are a native Francophone, would you be so kind and consider helping us with this project, whose importance I believe you can understand, and try to email the [Club 604 (which groups both Peugeot 604 and Tagora enthusiast) regarding this issue? This is the only such source came accross, but I guess you could find some more French-speaking associations and Tagora owners, which I would be most thankful for.

It's me again :D Sorry to hear that the Club604 proves unhelpful, but I have found another two potential francophone sources - my French hasn't improved any bit, so could I ask you for assistance once again? There is a Club Simca, which obviously deals with Tagoras too, as well as the Simcannoces Forums, which not only contain classifieds, but also forums devoted to each model, including Tagora - perhaps you could post there and ask whether they would be willing to help? EDIT: One more here :D - Photo Simca has some large collection of Simca, Chrysler and Talbot photos (though I haven't found a single Tagora yet), and they even have a Talbot Forum - the administrator, Bahia, has some Tagora production figures from somewhere, perhaps he can point to some good source that serve as a reference for the article? Or perhaps I should go learn French rather than bother you :D

Accusing Jacques Bourboulon of paedophilia

Per WP:BLP:

Do not change Jacques Bourboulon's biograpy to read "young girls". This is libel, as it suggests he is a paedophile, which I can see no evidence of.

Thanks. I have decided to withdraw from this discussion - my point in making this article was not to make a libel or glorify paedophilia. It was just a way, with the example of Bourboulon, to show that the boundaries of decency or acceptability have evolved between the seventies and now. Once again, Bourboulon in 1978 was in Playboy and Photo. This could no longer be the case and I find it quite telling. I cannot make my mind about Dunc|☺ whether he really didn't understand what I was up to or whether he did and pretend he did not, just for the fun of having a row. Hektor 12:23, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
