Clan Maxwell - External Links[edit]

Hi Heraldic, thanks for your message. I must admit that I may have been a little hasty. I went to revert that last addition and saw 10 external links, and I can't see why they are all necessary, after all Wikipedia is not a repository of links etc. BUT, I don't have a lot of experience with clan pages. Looking at the external links that were there, I couldn't see any that were "official" - I don't know if any "official" websites exist in this field. Perhaps you could help me out there. If you could look at Wikipedia:External links (not meaning to be patronising - don't know if you have had much dealings with external links or not, forgive me if you have!) and perhaps readd any that you think are important to the article. Basically we're looking for ones that really add something to the experience of reading the article which can't actually be added to the article. If that makes sense. I leave it up to your judgement, but 10 seems like overkill! All the best, --BelovedFreak 09:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Cool, that looks much better. --BelovedFreak 11:31, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Wikimedia Commons[edit]

Thank you for uploading the arms of Chisholm of Chisholm. If possible, please upload your pictures on Wikimedia Commons rather than on the English Wikipedia : that allows the pictures to be used not only on the English Wikipedia, but also on all other Wikipedias in any language ! And it is not more complicated to upload there than here... Regards. Baronnet (talk) 08:22, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

I have finally transfered the file, with the licence and the credit, to File:Chisholm-arms.jpg on Wikimedia Commons. Baronnet (talk) 19:11, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Chisholm-ilk.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chisholm-ilk.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 18:27, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:45Sqn10.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:45Sqn10.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:11, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
