Yeah, this picture is like 10 years old.

Heyo. I’m Nick, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. I had a baby girl about a year ago five years ago (wow, has it been that long?) seven years ago (yikes!), which had curtailed my on-wiki time severely.

I used to spend a lot of time on-wiki removing fair-use galleries from articles, but it seems that the crusade has finally been won, for the most part. Now I Huggle in my copious free time, and doing a lot of lurking at WP:ANI, WP:RFA, and WP:MFD, where I occasionally chime in. I also enjoy making {{editprotected}} requests on the upcoming blurb for Today’s featured article; it has all of the cheap thrills of seeing your work on the main page, but with none of the grueling work of actually writing an FA.

Let me know if I can help you with anything, and I'll do my best, or point you in the direction to someone who can.

Please sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~). Place comments that start a new topic at the bottom of the page by starting a new thread, using a descriptive header. Please link usernames and page tiles. I will normally answer on this page, and ping you on your talk page as well.

For the record, I'm not a real doctor, but I am a real Nick.

Your notification to me[edit]

You alleged that I made an edit to a page concerning some type of molecule...

This concerns me, not because I am ashamed/guilty of any malicious act, but because I never made any such edit. Perhaps the notification of the edit was sent to the wrong I.P.; other possiblities, such as someone else operating under my I.P., are the concern I feel.

I wanted to respond to let you know that I wouldn't make any sort of joking-edit (i.e. the edit that was allegedly made on the page.. very silly), and that other nonproductive edits from this I.P. should be approached cautiously (I'm not sure what that means in substantiation).

Goodness, that notification was left way back in October 2009. IP addresses can change fairly often, so I imagine that message was not actually intended for you, but rather someone else who was using that address back then. If you enjoy editing Wikipedia and would like you avoid this issue in the future, you might consider registering an account; of course, it's not required, and IP contributions are always welcome. Important Notice: Your 2013 Arbitration Committee Election vote[edit]

Greetings. Because you have already cast a vote for the 2013 Arbitration Committee Elections, I regret to inform you that due to a misconfiguration of the SecurePoll we've been forced to strike all votes and reset voting. This notice is to inform you that you will need to vote again if you want to be counted in the poll. The new poll is located at this link. You do not have to perform any additional actions other than voting again. If you have any questions, please direct them at the election commissioners. --For the Election Commissioners, v/r, TParis

I'm humbled. Like two ships in the night; I was in the middle of a post on your talk page. Thanks, HiDrNick! 14:45, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

I made no error[edit]

I saw that the page had an error. Somebody must have let their child get on the computer while the page was open. It had the error that the cats "emerged" 25 million years ago. Now I am not going to lie to you, I have not been on too many walks in my lifetime, but not a single one of the few walks I have been on included a new species flying out from a rock or dirt mound. What luck the person that witnessed such a thing as a whole species of cat "appearing" must have had. Involved admin[edit]

Good summary, but I think you meant "lifted by any uninvolved administrator". Bishonen | talk 22:13, 15 March 2015 (UTC).

Derp. Fixed. Thanks for the heads up. HiDrNick! 22:40, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Please don't remove comments from the talkpage.[edit]

The comments at Talk:2015 University of Oklahoma Sigma Alpha Epsilon racism incident are part of an ongoing discussion about whether or not to tone down the discriminatory tone towards the fraternity brothers and whether or not the Obama administration flouted the separation of powers. It's all relevant to the article. Please don't remove them.Zigzig20s (talk) 14:48, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

This is the edit being referenced. @Zigzig20s: I'm not going to edit war over this, but will continue to remove screeds when I see them. Please keep your comments on the talk page focused on the article and reliable sources. Wikipedia is not a forum for offering your opinions about current events. Your editing around this topic is bordering on disruptive. HiDrNick! 15:17, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

New edits[edit]

Hi Nick. I fundamentally disagree with this edit, which removed relevant information and was done without consensus. The fact that Boren's action was "illegal" is not excessive information; it is new information. The same goes for the fact that Boren's actions reflect badly on the university. I also disagree with this edit, which added some information about another chapter, which is off topic. I also believe this edit is not particularly helpful, as it is a direct quote. Please let me know if you would like to revert all those edits. If you don't, please let me know why not. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:25, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

I have little interest in getting into a proxy edit war. Let's be patient and see how the article shakes out. HiDrNick! 19:13, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

WP Conservatism[edit]

The WP Conservatism has been removed from the SAE racial incident page. Would you please add it back? I still don't feel welcome on that page, but others at the WP will be interested as it falls within its scope (constitutional issue), so the tag should not have been removed. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 00:01, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Islamic Calendar: Maome image of Mohammed forbidding intercalation[edit]

Sorry to try and drag you back into this but I think a bit of expansion on your closing statement may or it might be wishful thinking help reduce the issues with an IP editor. SPACKlick (talk) 14:25, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

I've been following the thread on the talk page. In my experience, the best way to handle an editor who refused to drop the stick is to just not engage them, but I'll see if I can think of something intelligent to add. HiDrNick! 14:55, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

New question raised regarding Talk:Hillary Rodham Clinton/April 2015 move request[edit]

Some opposers of this move have now contended that there is a "Critical fault in proposal evidence", which brings the opinions expressed into question. Please indicate if this assertion in any way affects your position with respect to the proposed move. Cheers! bd2412 T 04:38, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for all the kind words! The best part about Wikipedia has always been the people :) Best regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:56, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Alas, it was worth a try. I had hoped to garner runaway support before you had a chance to shut it down. Perhaps you could drop a prominent note on your talk page the next time you go on vacation? Cheers, HiDrNick! 13:01, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the barnstar[edit]

A well done for administrative work on Wikipedia is a breath of fresh air. A lot of feedback for such work is along the lines of "you suck"---not that I can blame someone for being upset with me, for example, for deleting their article. Thanks again! Maxim(talk) 14:11, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Wbm1058's RfA[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for your recent bold clerking experiment at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Wbm1058, but I feel that consensus at Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship/Wbm1058#Location of comments was against what you did. Over the past few hours, I've messed about quite a bit with that RfA, and basically undone all your hard work. I'm too tired to find diffs and links and stuff; I trust you can find and understand my changes. I hope you find the "hatting" compromise, which is currently implemented, okay. I genuinely do appreciate the bold efforts you made to improve the RfA format, but I worry it might have been at the expense of Wbm1058 and his RfA. I've started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship#Hatting long comments in response to all of this, which you may like to opine at. Bilorv(talk)(c)(e) 22:25, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

No worries, @Bilorv:. Thanks for the note. If hatting long comments at RFA becomes the norm, I'll consider my efforts a success, and I hope that you will, too. Cheers, HiDrNick! 00:11, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
