January 2014

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • to sign top wrestlers like Rob Van Dam, who left the company, or Bobby Roode, a tag team champion). TNA also fired a lot of wrestlers (like [[Doc Gallows|DOC]], Joey Ryan, Crimson or Jesse

Hutcher, my group is interested in creating a set of infobox templates for Category:Cyberattacks and similar pages. There is an existing/evolving ontology for this field in STIX. We are looking for an experienced Wikipedian to help guide us in creating such infobox templates. Would you be interested, or can you recommend someone who might be interested in collaborating?

I concur re Talk:Swallow Sidecar Company

"Proposed Jaguar Cars Merger
The following three articles seem to be about the same manufacturer: Jaguar Cars, Swallow Sidecar Company and SS Cars Ltd. The Jaguar website supports this as well as both Jaguar Cars', and Swallow's, articles plus their references. If this is true then they should not be separate articles with conflicting and confusing information. Hutcher (talk) 04:38, 3 February 2010 (UTC)"
Can you and me talk about that please? Eddaido (talk) 06:07, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, I guess 4.5 years ago I was waiting for support but they removed my tag requesting a merge. I haven't done too much on WP recently. I can't quite remember how merges even work. If you want to restart all that, I'll lend support. --Hutcher (talk) 23:20, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Yes, its been a while ;-)) I'm currently in all sorts of domestic turmoil away from WP though nothing very personal. Please may I come back to you? Thanks and regards, Eddaido (talk) 07:21, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Hutcher, A bit of a tricky subject; I can see a point for the pages to be merged but my concern would be twofold:

  1. People searching specifically for information on Swallow Sidecars or SS Cars may not know the link betweeb them and Jaguar Cars - one cannot assume they would know this - and thus any results showing the latter name would be ignored.
  2. The opportunity for the pages about Swallow Sidecars and SS Cars to be enhanced with more details about the company at that time would be lost - it would instead have to go into the Jaguar Cars page, which itself would benefit from more detail and could potentially make the page overly long and difficult to navigate.

On that basis I think separate pages detailing the firm's various names with comprehensive linking would be the best solution.

Kind regards,

Dainase (talk) 14:30, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

WP:MOSBIO edits from 2012

Hi Hutcher, just wondering if you recall this edit to the MOSBIO page back in January of 2012. [1] This is a pretty major change to the conventions, and I was wondering if you recall any discussion or other views on this that informed your decision to change it. I don't feel strongly one way or another, but I was recently pointed to this and did not recall ever seeing the "legal name first" requirement and saw that you made the edit to remove the "alternatively" section. Thanks. -- Fuzheado | Talk 17:56, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
