Seborrhoeic dermatitis is on my watchlist, so I would probably have seen, but there again I have rather too much on my watchlist so might have missed :-) Any branded product claiming to treat a disease needs to be registered as a drug, or at least be able to indicate what its constituent medical components are (Panoxyl Aquagel is effective for acne because it is Benzoyl peroxide, a product "Acneblast" that might claim to act by its blend of components is clearly not going to be a drug or likely have any reliable source back up research into the product). So I concluded PITYVAL with no listed ingredients, none of top 50 Google hits for an English webpage, is probably a cosmetic product and that the claims were speculative and unverified - so I just reverted the likely un-cited spam.David Ruben ^Talk 13:10, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Northern lights

Hi RJH, thought I'd moved this conversation out of the Sirius talk page :-) We sure do get a lot of northern lights up here! Last October they were so stunning, even in town (with its significant light pollution), that walking home from a bar I just lay down on the ground and gaped at them in awe. I hadn't seen them pink and purple before, only green. But there had been some solar activity earlier that day; this was above and beyond anything I've ever seen before. But it is still pretty common to see northern lights even in the city. Icemuon 16:35, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

On "Cruft"

I agree there is much "cruft" on wikipedia...yet i see not the great harm...even if some devoted fan is willing to pile up info on some obscure cultural personality i dont see the harm...and while u sound like an elitist in saying only the "best schools" and such should be mentioned...i come back with an elitist attitude as well with "many times the mainstream popular icons are the cruftiest" and "the best schools are filled with cruft and sometimes dont deserve their rank...why even George Junior with his mediocre entrance scores went to Yale and Harvard"...perhaps even the slightly lesser knowns have the most true brilliants...and the fact is that the students at harvard and such went out to fill the faculty positions at all the other universities long ago...almost any university or school now has the potential to be highly relevant and a leader in excellence...theres a vast amount of politics in academia...anyways u seem a decent editor...cheers!...just thought id weigh in on "cruftiness"...as id never heard this computer programmer term...Benjiwolf 18:14, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Volleyball

Ciao! What you wrote looked somewhat deceptive, as they our nowadays totally out of date in modern game... the hindering of the setter in the defending position occurs only a very few cases, but not when the othen team serves, but when it attacks. Also the "tiring" thing has really nothing to share with modern play. I played VB at all levels, always with 5-1, and never seen a single setter really "tired". Re: Science edits

Hi, I am not an admin - but I will keep an eye on things over the next couple of days. The editor has stopped adding spam links for the moment so I will leave it at that (any competent editor is going to notice a "blue" talk page with nothing on it and know it has been blanked). If folks consistently wont follow the rules (after having been made aware of them on countless occasions) then in time the will find themselves in difficulties. deleting spaces

Hey, yeah I do that sometimes. Sometimes you can cut out quite abit of space, but I also correct punctuation etc. too if the articles need it. Sometimes the edit sumamry shows very lkittle, but sometimes it moves whole paragprahs forward a section or so, so it looks as if the whole paragraph is either new or has been deleted. If I did that AI would put a sumamry and wouldn't mar it as minor! But I'll try to remember. :)SpookyMulder 11:00, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Photo of Herðubreið

Hi Icemuon, I took the liberty of cropping your photo Image:Herðubreið-Iceland.jpg and re-uploading to Commons as Image:Herðubreið-Iceland-2.jpg (still attributing you as author). I think the cropped version is much clearer, especially in the small 180–300px size typically seen in articles. I've replaced the photo in Herðubreið, tuya, and volcano with the cropped version. Please feel free to discuss or revert if you have strong objections.

By the way, do you remember what direction you took the photo from? I'm assuming it looks at the southeast side of Herðubreið, based on the apparent sun direction and a quick glance at the lovely Herðubreið topo map available online. Mont Tremblant

Skew arch

Hello. Thanks for taking the trouble to comment on this article. I've been working on it as sole contributor for some time and any scrap of feedback is useful. The Culley to which reference is made is John L. Culley, whose personal preference was strongly in favour of the helicoidal construction method, after Nicholson and Fox. His criticism is quoted in reference 35, which I've copied and pasted below. I agree, though, that since there is no explicit mention of his name earlier in the text its presence here is confusing. So I've made a slight change that avoids mentioning him by name.

Culley, John L. (1886). Treatise on the Theory of the Construction of Helicoidal Oblique Arches. New York: D. Van Nostrand. pp. 115–116. "This method is very faulty, and cannot be too severely condemned. There is no bond between the several ribs, as each rib is separate and distinct in its construction and its position; the load above the arch is never uniform throughout the whole length of the arch, and on account of this lack of bond in the arch, it will be distorted by its unequal settlement. Again, the outer ribs are constantly being forced outwards by the action of frost upon the material that finds lodgement between their heading surfaces."
