Hello,

I am new to Wikipedia and just created my first article, Tara Babcock. I know I am not a confirmed member as I am new, but was hoping an Admin could add an image to the info box on my new page. I was thinking of using this image: http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/104/l_228e1d23e29a4585891a34ec268393db.jpg

Any help?

Hi there, do you have any licencing information for that image? Who took it? Wexcan  Talk  05:33, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've just seen that the image has a watermark in the bottom left. It is highly likely that the image is not suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia due to having a non-free licence. Wexcan  Talk  05:37, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, there also is a version on another site non-related to tarababcock.com without a watermark, does this help? Should I try contacting Tara Babcock for copyright release? Infoleader (talk) 05:42, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have looked on Flickr and the commons for you, and it seems there are no free images available there for her. You would likely have a lot of trouble trying to request copyright, as they need to give up pretty much all rights to the image. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission Wexcan  Talk  05:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will try contact her and give it a shot. I've always hated to see candid images of models or unprofessional images of historical figures. Until I get a response, does this work: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/8383/tarababcockcandid.jpg Thanks again! Infoleader (talk) 06:08, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, again, unless you personally took the picture and can upload it yourself, or you know the person who took it and they are willing to upload it, then you have the same issue as far as copyright is concerned. Wexcan  Talk  06:12, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. If I do get a reply from her stating I can use the image, what should I do next? What information would I need from her in order to make is a legitimate approval? Again, thank you. I am a writing major in college, but new to the rules of copyright! Have always wanted to write for Wikipedia! Infoleader (talk) 06:17, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission should have all the relevant details about where to send what. No problem and good luck - if you need anything else just use the {{helpme}} template. Wexcan  Talk  06:30, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{help}}

Hello,

I got permission to use an image on my Wikipedia page about Tara Babcock and I followed the rules of Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and the image on Wikipedia Commons still says I have no permission! It has been almost a week. I also requested that the image be added to my page because I am new and do not have that right and that still has not been done either. I tried using my Commons talk page, but it seems to work differently than here...any help? Infoleader (talk) 00:26, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the users that monitor the {{helpme}} template cannot help you with this situation. You need to contact OTRS in order to get this issue resolved.
However, to add the image to a page, you just have to write the code [[File:Name of image.jpg]] wherever you want it. If it needs to be resized, try [[File:Name of image.jpg|thumb|200px]]. If you need more options, please feel free to ask about that content.
Thanks for your contributions! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 00:33, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! Why does it say above the image File:Frameless-? I appreciate all of your help! Article here: Tara Babcock Infoleader (talk) 03:39, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Tara Babcock, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tara Babcock. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
