July 2012 Study of authors of health-related Wikipedia pages

Dear Author/Several Times

My name is Nuša Farič and I am a Health Psychology MSc student at the University College London (UCL). I am currently running a quantitative study entitled Who edits health-related Wikipedia pages and why? I am interested in the editorial experience of people who edit health-related Wikipedia pages. I am interested to learn more about the authors of health-related pages on Wikipedia and what motivations they have for doing so. I am currently contacting the authors of randomly selected articles and I noticed that someone at this address recently edited an article on Rectal examination. I would like to ask you a few questions about you and your experience of editing the above mentioned article and or other health-related articles. If you would like more information about the project, please visit my user page (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hydra_Rain) and if interested, please reply via my talk page or e-mail me on nusa.faric.11@ucl.ac.uk. Also, others interested in the study may contact me! If I do not hear back from you I will not contact this account again. Thank you very much in advance. Hydra Rain (talk) 19:06, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

hello Several Times, thank you for you interest in my study! I would ask you to answer some questions in the brief questionnaire following this link: https://opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=18871 and then I would like to interview you, either via Skype or phone, or you can email me on nusa.faric.11@ucl.ac.uk and I will send you the ethics form and the interview questions which you can complete in your own time. More info on my project can be found here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hydra_Rain. Thank you! Hydra Rain (talk) 19:33, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Hello Several Times, thank you for your time to complete the survey, saw your responses! What would you prefer with regards to the interview- Skype or answer questions in the written format? Let me know! Thanks, Nuša Hydra Rain (talk) 14:51, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello Several Times

Greetings Several Times,

My name is Rafael Zabala, and I am writing to you in regards to the article "Mobile Application Testing"

On July 10th I added a reference under the "Tools" section to Mobile Labs Inc, which is another Mobile Application Testing Tool.

I thought this was an appropriate post since the article already references other Mobile Application Testing tools.

You removed that addition, and I wanted to reach out and connect with you about it.

I would like to propose to you that our addition was appropriate, and not spam.

Would you consider reverting that change?

I wanted to connect with you on this so that we could discuss what the appropriate action is.

Thank you very much for your attention.

I reverted the addition of this link as it appears to be commercial in nature. See the page on external links to avoid WP:ELNO, especially the note: "Links to individual web pages that primarily exist to sell products or services, or to web pages with objectionable amounts of advertising. For example, the mobile phone article does not link to web pages that mostly promote or advertise cell-phone products or services." §everal⇒|Times 15:18, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Several Times,

Thank you for your response. I very much appreciate it.

I am confused since the section is about Mobile Application testing tools, and there are other commercial sites being linked.

Do you have a suggestion on what would make it appropriate to link to our Mobile Application Testing tool?

Thank you kindly for your response (c:

Your link advertises a service, so it is unlikely to be considered an appropriate external link by most editors. Please read WP:OTHERSPAM. §everal⇒|Times 17:27, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Mikey taylor, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Basically a copy of Richard Wilson (Australian actor) with a bit of added nonsense about an ad.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Pichpich (talk) 21:34, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
