AdvancEd[edit]

Are you sure those pages come from AdvancED? I don't see them mentioned in the links. Thanks! Zagalejo^^^ 05:37, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Another question: where are you reading that Bowen was founded in 1871? I don't think that date is correct. Everything I see says 1876. (Here's a book source.) Zagalejo^^^ 05:53, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Mottoes[edit]

A lot of those things aren't really mottoes, but just parts of mission statements. Mottoes are usually short and snappy. Zagalejo^^^ 22:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Again, those mission statements are way too long to put in the infobox. Not all schools have a real motto. Zagalejo^^^ 19:08, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Clemente High School move[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Clemente High School a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Roberto Clemente Community Academy. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Noom talk stalk 23:12, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

I undid the copy/paste page move. You're free to make changes to the article now. Zagalejo^^^ 23:19, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
If you want to move something in the future, just let me know. (Leave a message at User talk:Zagalejo.) Zagalejo^^^ 23:28, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok i will do that J Irvington (talk) 23:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Copyrighted images[edit]

I know you're just trying to help, but we simply can't accept copyrighted images here. If you found something on the internet, it is most likely copyrighted. Zagalejo^^^ 19:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

ANI[edit]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Zagalejo^^^ 20:17, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

As I said here, I don't want to see you blocked or anything. You're doing work in subject areas that have been neglected, and I appreciate that. But I need to believe that I can trust you to tell the truth. Zagalejo^^^ 23:49, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

you can trust me , im telling you the truth . this is the first wikipedia account i ever had , I know nothing about any other accounts. I just wanted to help out by contributing info , thats all. J Irvington (talk) 03:21, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Commas and spaces[edit]

There's no need to do this. You're supposed to put a space after a comma, but not before a comma. Zagalejo^^^ 22:28, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dyett Academic Center, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Violinist (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

IHSA links[edit]

Just so we're clear, the Q in the IHSA charts doesn't mean that a team appeared in the actual championship match. Generally, it just means that a team appeared in the playoffs. If the team actually played in the final, there would be a 1 or 2 in the "Place" column. (See Simeon: [1]). Zagalejo^^^ 03:21, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

it says they qualified . . J Irvington (talk) 03:23, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
I understand, but the way things are phrased is kind of misleading. Dunbar, for example, only got to the second round in 2011. [2]. It would be best to just mention state championships or Public League championships. Zagalejo^^^ 05:46, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
aw ok J Irvington (talk) 21:20, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

August 2012[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Hirsch Metropolitan High School does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! — MrX 00:37, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Linking Pages to Facebook[edit]

i was just wondering how do wikipedia pages link to facebook community pages. (J Irvington (talk) 19:25, 31 August 2012 (UTC))
You could put something in the external links section. Zagalejo^^^ 23:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Enrollments[edit]

Just wondering, where are you getting those numbers? Every one I've checked is slightly different than the number in the source being cited. Zagalejo^^^ 23:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

the chicago public schools site , they must have just been updated.(J Irvington (talk) 23:59, 1 September 2012 (UTC))

Flags in infoboxs on school articles[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I see you haven't been here too long and I wanted you to know we are glad you have joined the ranks of Wikipedia editors. You appear to be doing a lot of work on Chicago schools, and that is great. Just so you know, school article guidelines are that flags not be included in infoboxes. See WP:WPSCH/AG#IB. Keep up the great work. I do a lot of editing at school articles, too. They seem to get a lot of vandalism, but they also get some attention from some fine new editors. If I can ever be of any help, don't hesitate to contact me at my talk page. Gtwfan52 (talk) 05:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Sports[edit]

Remember that different sports take place in different seasons of the year. For example, a basketball championship in 2008-09 would have been awarded in 2009, because basketball is considered a winter sport. Also, "ranked class 3A" (or whatever) doesn't really mean anything by itself. 3A (or 4A, or whatever) are classifications based on school enrollment. Zagalejo^^^ 23:21, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Just an FYI. That is true in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Oregon and Idaho for sure. But in New York, "class" is used somewhat like we might use "Regional" in the Midwest. Gtwfan52 (talk) 01:19, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Use of IMDB[edit]

Please do not use IMDB as a source for any personal information in biography articles. Long-term consensus is that IMDB and similar sites do not meet Wikipedia's reliable source criteria for such material in biography articles. Additional information can be found here and and here. Thank you, --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:59, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

I have again reverted your addition of personal information to several biography articles as the links you included do not meet Wikipedia's reliable sourcing criteria. Online blogs, user-generated content sites and websites such as IMDB and NNDB are not acceptable for biographical data. If you intend to continue editing BLPs, it is imperative that you read this link and ask questions if you are unsure if a source is useable. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 02:23, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Chicago Housing Authority Logo.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Chicago Housing Authority Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
