Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Jack Child, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Astrotrain 00:18, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please keep the wikify, expansion and stub tags on this article please. They are there to inform other editors of the work required to improve the article. Good luck in your editing! --Chazz88 01:34, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In additional explanation: the important part of "wikifying" is inserting all the hyperlinks that cross-reference words to other articles (which is why that tag was also on related articles). Tearlach 02:21, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Read Wikipedia Articles[edit]

You may wish to read the pages on your welcome list and also the pages about using wikipedia that link from it. That will help you understand. For example you asked someone to talk about the neutrality of your article but didn't both to sign it. This meant that people found it hard to reply to you in your talk page. To sign a page probably just type --~~~~ at the end of the article and a link to your page and the exact time of your post will appear on the page. Like this: --Chazz88 12:20, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Category:Wikipedia basic information you should read pages in this category {and its subcategory) soon. Also some of your articles may of generated interest regarding NPOV because you have authored books on the subject. --Chazz88 12:28, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Politics of Argentine postage stamps[edit]

Hello! This is about the articles you created:

Was this text taken directly from your work, "The Politics and Semiotics of Argentine Postage Stamps"? Primary source texts are supposed to go at WikiSource, and do not belong in articles, which are for encyclopedic content only. Thanks! -- Megamix? 11:03, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, I am going to speedy delete them. Please put them on Wikisource instead. Thanks. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 11:47, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Amputee soccer, stamp Salv-C546.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Amputee soccer, stamp Salv-C546.jpeg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Philately WikiProject[edit]

You are listed as a participant in the Philately WikiProject. Today I have created an inactive list consisting of those participants who have not made any philatelic edits for more than six months. I was going to use a 3 month cut off point but felt generous. You are not one of those editors, so I have not moved you and you remain as an active participant. If you are still active on Wikipedia but are inactive in philately please let us know by moving yourself to the inactive list. However, we really need more active participants for all philatelic articles. The Philately Portal has been running for some time and I am doing occasional updates, Postage stamps of Ireland is a candidate for featured article (that would be the first philatelic article), and several of the redlinks have been filled but we need more activity so if you are around please participate. Thanks for the work you have done in the past even if you have not done anything recently. I also left the same message at the Jchild talk page as I believe both are yours. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Amputee soccer, stamp Salv-C546.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Amputee soccer, stamp Salv-C546.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
