Welcomes

Hello, again. :) Actually, we've been welcome new users for quite some time, and we even have a welcoming committee. You've probably been overlooked to this point because of your low profile over here at the 'pedia. – ClockworkSoul 23:05, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the message which I have only just seen. I met Berwick Coates in Dec 2003, when visiting WBS for the first time in about 50 years. My interest is in the work of the school's founder. Curiously, I have also been studying Dartington Hall history, hence I got into who the Elmhirst's were. The link between Dartington Hall and WBS is that the mother-in-law of the founder of WBS was born in Dartington House in 1807! but that is rather obscure. I do not recognise the other name you mentioned. Op. Deo 29 June 2005 12:13 (UTC)

P.S. I see what you mean about Millfield - strong on boasts, weak on facts. Are you at WBS? Perhaps there are some more facts to add? I have all the history books but not sure what more would be useful. Op. Deo 29 June 2005 12:23 (UTC)

Flirtations

Hi. My name is James. I pressed your name on the Flirtations. I'm actually the one who created the page in the first place, I'm only 15. I was really surprised to find out how young you are and that you like independent films, like me too. I'm obsessed. My sister and I love making films...we love independent films...someday I want to make one and submit. I am taking acting lessons. How come you are a fan of the Flirtations if you're only 18? I thought I would have been the only kid to like them in the entire world! I'm from America. I, ironically, wanted to make a film about Northern soulies and their passion for rare music...I love 60's and 70's girl-groups...and I've downloaded a million mp3's, practically. E-mail me. jmccoymoniz@comcast.net

I'm also into pop art, and i do a lot of it myself...I'll have a website out soon...it'll be a comic on the internet,

Borough

These types of claims are generally very dubious. Recorded history for the time period involved is very fragmentary, especially in the field of local government. Many self-governing towns that would later be chartered as boroughs were happily self-governing before the year 1000, and this doesn't appear to refer to the first Norman charter grant, so I'm very skeptical about the claim and even whether it is provable. Pilton Article

Hi there. Sorry to suddenly appear on your discussion page, but I thought this would be the best place to post this so you see it... I have edited the Pilton article so it reads "suburb of Barnstaple". I've added an entry to the discussion page on the article explaining this. 10th January, 17:20 by Matthew.

Pilton Article

Many thanks for the reply and comment regarding the 4 tildes for signing name, time and date. I am still quite new to Wikipedia and I still haven't familiarised myself with all the styles, code you can put in articles when editing etc. Well, here goes with 4 tildes: Matthuxtable 18:52, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Barnstaple and Barum

Hi Jack, Thanks for your comment. I think there is more that can go in the Barum item, I'm researching it at the moment. I did put a bit on the Pilton article about the origin of Barnstaple - Maybe I should move it to the Barnstaple article? Lynbarn 23:35, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I have reinstated your link to Uchida Hyakken, and added a few lines about him in the article. It would take a more competent person (i.e. someone who knows Japanese) to make a real article about Hyakken. --Thorsen 12:57, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Re:

I just thought (not very strongly) that it was not appropriate. The article already said that Musashi was a historical figure and linked to the article on him. If you don't agree, you can just reinstate it - I don't mind, but, if you do, could you at least fix it up a little? elvenscout742 13:03, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey Sy, If you think that episode 310 has a reference to the Matrix then feel free to add it to the page! Jack 17:19, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Actually, now that I think of it, it's doing service to Spiderman 1 -- Sy / (talk) 11:11, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Samurai Jack

  • Sorry about the faulty merger, wasn't sure many people were working on Samurai jack :) Also, if you want to work on Samurai Jack sometime and get it to FA status, let me know, I'm a big fan! :) -MIke Judgesurreal777 21:35, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

References in Samurai Jack

Please be careful with your edits. You removed the AfD tag from References in Samurai Jack, which could be seen as vandalism. Cheers --Pak21 07:18, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Re Devvo - Why do you think that he 'plays' Devvo? Why is your assumption more valid than mine - if in doubt leave it out... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobslayer (talkcontribs)

POTD feed

Thank you for your kind note on my talk page about the POTD feed! It seems like it still isn't quite working correctly, but I hope to be able to fix that soon. /skagedal... 14:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree. You can revert my edits. The Prince of Darkness 18:55, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Regards to planetshakers

I don't think there is any reason for this section. Firstly vandalism is a common occurrence on Wikipedia, there's not much we can do to stop that, and therefore if every article had a section on incorrect edits that had been made Wikipedia would be very boring. Secondly if there's no evidence that Planetshakers is a cult (which you claim), then there is no controversy and hence no need for the section. What do you think? Oh and it's defamation not deformation. Cheers, Jack 13:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Hay, when editing I thought the user vandalizing the page had deleted the section again. sorry.
The major issue is that the wikipedia article is also high up in the ranks of Google and the user is doing everything to make the organization look as bad as possible. If the user in question was willing to discuss the issue at hand rather then post fake citations then I may not have an issue. I thought by bringing the issue out where everyone can see it would allow people know there are bias facts posted.
--Lodders 13:44, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
I understand your concerns but your church's page is no different to any other on Wikipedia, other articles face the exact same problem. I had a quick look on Google and an article from The Sydney Morning Herald does mention the line "Critics say the Pentecostal churches are cult-like, materialistic and faddish. They take in young people who are vulnerable and membership - and also faith - is fleeting as people try a church for a couple of years then move on." [1]. So really the article should state the critical sides of the church as I'm sure you know Wikipedia has a Neutral Point of View. Your second point about discussing the issue with the user would be a lost cause until the user signs up for an account. As the edits seem to be coming from a university IP address. Cheers, Jack 14:04, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
I've never actually seen that article, I'll check it out on the morning. Also I understand where you come from seeing that the user doesn't own an account. I'll post you with updates about this if you want.

anyway have a good night (or day!). ttly --Lodders 14:28, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Your assistance in tables

Jack, I am requesting your assistance in creating an easier-to-view table of membership on the North-American Interfraternity Conference page. I saw that you created the table on the List of Samurai Jack episodes page, and was hoping that you could create something visually similar, with visible lines, etc. I look forward to editing with you! —ScouterSig 23:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Jack,

Thanks for spotting that. The initial bot adding the banner for the Somerset Wikiproject seems to have put them all over the place & not always for logical reasons - I suspect this was because it was in some way linked to Exmoor - I thought we'd deleted all the stray ones but obviously not.— Rod talk 11:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

List of characters from Samurai Jack

Many articles are randomly created without reason, so you shouldn't use that as a basis. Character lists should only be created when real world information is available on the characters as a whole, or when it is impossible to cover them within the main article. The first option obviously hasn't come to pass, so that would leave the second option. The primary characters fit comfortably in the main article, and they could even be trimmed. The one section does a fine job keeping the weight of them balanced. Information from the list can possibly be used in the future, and it may even become a valid topic some day, so deletion is not a very good option. TTN (talk) 19:22, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
