No offense intended, as you've definitely been doing a lot of good stuff around various articles. I just feel that the image is already pretty much at the limit for any detail to be seen w/o clicking on it. - Denimadept (talk) 05:34, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Commons - reply[edit]

Re this message, a little context would have helped. I can only assume that you refer to File:Edward Elgar statue.png, but that was not an upload - it was an undelete. Well, I suppose it was but way back in 2004 when image use and WikiCommons was quite different! violet/riga [talk] 00:10, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Transfers to Commons[edit]

Hi there. I'm not going to be a douche and fail all of your transfers, but you really should go back and add categories to all of the files you moved to Commons. This will make it easier for other projects to find and use these files. I did one for you here an an example. Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 01:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC) Sorry. SuggestBot request, and frequency[edit]

Hey, I noticed you asked for some suggestions over on User:SuggestBot/Requests. Normally I don't send them to users who have also signed up to receive suggestions at regular intervals. Poking around in the history of your user talk page I noticed you requested them once a day, which we currently don't support as we don't have the computing resources to do it. We do have an unpublished feature of allowing you to get them once a week though (just set the parameter to "once a week" or "weekly"). Let me know if there's anything. Thank you for your message. Actually the copyright law which is applicable here is that of Canada, not the USA. It is that copyright for anonymous works is fifty years from publication or 75 years from creation. Masalai (talk) 03:46, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jay8g.

I received a message about your comment "Current license doubtful but likely PD USGov."

I'm a single-time contributor to wiki, so please excuse my lack of expertise in use of the wiki vernacular.

Re: The photo... I obtained the photo (and the permission to use it) from Frank Trzaska, Webmaster/Owner of the Military Knives Website (at on Thu, 17 Dec 2009 18:25:08 -0500. I have the original e-message exchange between us, if you would like to see it. At the time I submitted the article about my father, James M. Masters, Sr., wiki editor USMC Sgt Robert P Lemiszki guided me and eventually approved my submission. What can I do to persuade you of the photo's 'licence' authenticity?

Re: "Is this a picture taken by a US Government person?"
Yes. It's an official U.S. Marine Corps photo. It was confirmed by YA02 Alisa M. Whitley who, at the time of my submission, was an Archivist
at the Gray Research Center, United States Marine Corps University, Archives and Special Collections, Quantico, VA.

Anne Triola Image[edit]

Hi Jay8g,

I am so new as a writer on Wikipedia. I selected the wrong tag for Anne Triola's file as I should have selected the same tag that was set for Vivien Leigh's publicity still. The mistake is on me! I need some one to help me with fixing this problem. Please help me with this. I don't want her photo to be deleted. She doesn't have any photos anywhere on the internet to go along with a biography.

I meant to list Anne Triola's photo under the tag of "This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1923 and 1963 and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. Unless its author has been dead for the required period, it is copyrighted in the countries or areas that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works, such as Canada (50 pma), Mainland China (50 pma, not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 pma), Mexico (100 pma), Switzerland (70 pma), and other countries with individual treaties".

Sadly, I just don't know what I am doing on Wikipedia some times. It took me forever how to learn how to insert sources correctly with the reference symbols such as the ref symbol that exist inside the "<" and ">" characters. I finally got that down, but I am a beginner.

I used to work for a news paper over in Cedartown, Georgia as a sports writer, but I struggle with some of the rules and methods of handling things on Wikipedia with photos.

Anne Triola's photo is incorrectly tagged. It needs the tag that would list it as "This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1923 and 1963 and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. Unless its author has been dead for the required period, it is copyrighted in the countries or areas that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works, such as Canada (50 pma), Mainland China (50 pma, not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 pma), Mexico (100 pma), Switzerland (70 pma), and other countries with individual treaties" as I had stated just a second ago. The mistake is on me. Please help me correct this. I would be grateful.

Hi Jay8g. I keep making mistakes with different things. I replied to you last night, but on my own page - which shows I have no idea what I am doing on Wikipedia. Here is what last night's message read:

Thanks Jay8g, I appreciate you working with me. I will look into it checking with various sources. I want this photo to be legit too. Anne Triola is a favorite actress for me. However, that is where the problem begins for me as I struggle to locate decent pictures of the lady. It's hard to find her even on ebay, so I will check with RKO Studios Inc. to see about the copyright on using her picture on Wikipedia immediately. It's 4 am in the morning, and I might have to go in and teach 6- and 7-year olds PE this morning, so I need to get back to bed and get some extra sleep, but Jay8g - I will look into this quickly and get back in touch with you regarding the matter. Rod Hayes (talk) 01:01, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

And here is its followup post, which again as I described - I listed this on my own talk page by mistake just five minutes ago:

Hi Jay8g, I emailed RKO Studios Inc. earlier today about the photograph. So I am just going to wait on their reply - and go from there. I know that from their history that RKO Studios Inc. was founded in 1929 and became defunct in 1959 only to be revived in 1981 for what it is worth. Again, I will just have to wait on their answer. I mean, they (RKO Studios Inc.) are the very ones that gave Anne Triola a chance to even act in movies to start with - or otherwise, we might not have even the slightest inkling of who Anne Triola is at all. I guess it could be said that RKO Studios Inc. made her. I believe her daughter, Tina Quartaroli, is the same Tina A. Quartaroli that is a college professor at the University of Central Missouri. Still, I am not the kind of person that will probe people all over the country. I am a Christian, and it's just my own personal belief to just give people complete privacy as the scripture (Luke 6:31) reads, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Anyway, thanks Jay8g, - and I'll try to get all of this done in a timely fashion. Rod Hayes (talk) 01:03, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jay8g, I contacted RKO Studios Inc. today. I spoke with a person named David and then sent him an email with the photo attached. I believe they are willing to help me with the Anne Triola photograph. I am waiting on their reply email now - and I will get back in touch with you as soon as I can. Rod Hayes (talk) 16:48, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jay8g, I will send you a series of emails I received from RKO Studios Inc. this past Thursday. Maybe this will help us with my photograph of Triola and Wayne. I'll send them in just a second... ROD_HAYES 14:48, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, I see you don't have the email user option on your user page. Well, I described them already in the paragraphs some what. RKO Studios Inc. included David Woodard and Brian Anderson as they referred me to Julie Heath. Well, here is an improved signature. It's not perfect. Rod Hayes ^ 20:17, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Again Jay8g, thanks for the help. Now I am wondering if I need to contact one of the OTRS' volunteers to assist with the email letter I just sent. On the "Commons:OTRS" page, it states that things can get "backlogged and it may take a month before someone responds". There may be more that I have to do. I'll check back and see. Rod Hayes (Talk) 21:10, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

One last thing, Jay8g. I saw that I am supposed to supply a URL to help volunteers with OTRS on the new tag that exists on Anne Triola's photograph file. The URL is its email address, right? It is literally this:

That is correct, isn't it?

Well, I sent out another email to them listing this URL to help the volunteers. Again, thanks so very much for working with me on this project. I surely appreciate your assistance. You and Eagles247 have been just totally great during all of this. God bless you both. Rod Hayes (talk) 01:52, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Anne Triola photo update[edit]

Man. Timing is just terrible for me with this and all. Two years ago I could have nailed this problem down without an issue. I just had a successful teacher job interview yesterday at a middle school, but I won't know if the job is mine until one to two weeks. I just don't have the money right now to purchase the rights to use the Triola/John Wayne photo. I had a good discussion with Ms. Heath via email messages. She was actually wanting me to inspect three other images as replacement stills for the one I have uploaded. One of them caught my eye. It was a still from a movie Anne was in in 1948. Still, the price range is just over my head as far as getting Warner Bros. to come in and perform all of their necessary procedures. It frustrates me because my job situation has been tough for me ever since I was let go with 700 teachers in Cobb County in May 2010. You can just go ahead and delete the image. I'll try and bring back some very good Anne Triola images for her Wikipedia at a later date when I have the financial backing. Rod Hayes (talk) 19:25, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Marie Marvingt Edit - Thanks[edit]

Hi - thanks for your recent edits to tidy up Article Marie Marvingt. I intend to continue work on it until all aspects of her biography are well cited, preferably from sources written in her lifetime. Do you know whether there is a procedure to drop the "Citations inadequate" tag? When I think its ready, should I submit the Article for another review, or can I just delete the tag when I think its good enough? Best Wishes.Dendrotek 10:16, 29 April 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dendrotek (talkcontribs)

Camp Murray[edit]

Hey, I'm going back a ways, but in October 2011, you made an edit to the Camp Murray article, and it looks like you put in a jpg file name, but it seems there might be a typo? I couldn't tell if it was just a typo, or your intent was to put in a placeholder of some sort. Before I just deleted it, because I agree an image would be good, I thought I'd run it past you. Thanks! Ratmangxa (talk) 12:27, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Can you make your signature more readable please ? In my browser (Safari 6) the multiple lines overlap and make it unreadable, which is undesirable. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 13:00, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

bay bridge article[edit]

Hey I had just finished a reorganization of the article on the new SF bay bridge when I edit-conflicted you. If you see my sandbox, I put what I did in there. If you are ok with using that as a starting point for your own copyedit, let me know or just put it in the article yourself. If you don't want to use it, I'm totally ok with that too. Cheers Thingg 01:22, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Actually, nevermind. I thought you had done more than you did (I hit the wrong diff). I just incorporated your copyedits into what I had done and saved it. Heh btw thanks for looking at that article. I just fixed the dab problem with the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway article. I was almost ready to add the coordinates for Union Station (Erie, Pennsylvania), when they sent me on the other side of Lake Erie, so I'm holding off on that task. Kedarcidin apoprotein disambiguation[edit]

Hey Jay8g, thanks for the pointer on disambiguating the reference to an apoprotein in the kedarcidin article. I'm unsure how I can resolve this, since there is no adequate explanation of what an apoprotein is on Wikipedia. What would you suggest?--M mitcheltree (talk) 19:03, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

M mitcheltree:Are you saying that neither of the two links on the disambiguation page are the correct topic? If so, you can make an article on the correct topic or simply make a custom redlink, simply changing the link target to what would seem to be a good title for an article on the correct topic. If one of the articles on the disambiguation page is the correct topic, simply change the target to that:Jay8g [VTE] 01:47, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm actually having fun with an impossible project. I'm trying to revive the Haitian Creole Wikipedia, despite not speaking a lick of Haitian or even French. But it turns out that I can still be useful there, so I'm trying. (Also, if you know anyone who speaks even a little, please beg them, from the bottom of my heart, to click an Edit button and give it a try over there. The vast majority of articles over there are one-sentence stubs, so it's really, really easy to improve them.) WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:27, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
