Memorable comments from discussions I've been in:

  • I flipped a three-sided coin, it came up "no consensus". --Kbdank71 (talk) 20:32, 13 November 2006 (From a talk page discussion)
  • Outline my position, which is actually built on a big pile of marbles in a game of kerplunk and the straws are slowly being pulled - Hiding (talk) 08:49, 17 November 2006 (From an edit summary)
  • While the essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may be useful for other XfD discussions, it isn't as useful for CfD, due to a commonality of consistancy due to prior consensus. The guideline WP:OCAT is an excellent example of this. And the same seems true for WP:ALLORNOTHING. - jc37 17:12, 9 April 2007
Due to a what of what due to what? Please rephrase for us simple folk. Picaroon 01:23, 12 April 2007 (From a WP:DRV discussion.)
  • I think I was more involved with the fiction MOS when it was started than I am now, I have kind of given up on those sort of pages, no sooner do you get it all straight, have a few drinks to celebrate, put the chairs on the table and start mopping up than a whole new crowd walks in ready to get it all straight again. - Hiding 21:03, 2 November 2007 (from a talk page discussion)
  • But in my experience, every talk page of XfD closers seems to be filled with vehemence about disagreement of a closure. Nice to know that you've managed to (mostly) somehow avoid that. ("somehow" - you'll have to loan me your special medallion sometime : ) - jc37 00:11, 6 March 2008
    It's a medallion of troll-protection +4. I looted it from a [contentious] AfD along with a masterwork ban-hammer +1, a mop of template sweeping, and 103 gold pieces. IronGargoyle (talk) 05:39, 7 March 2008
  • Enjoy reading this text in context : ) (From a talk page discussion starting on 23:57, 21 April 2008 (UTC))

Hi Jc37,

As the closing admin for the CfD for this category, I was hoping to get your thoughts on this and their response on my talk page. Thanks, VegaDark (talk) 18:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Merry Christmas![edit]

2014[edit]

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 00:57, 24 December 2014‎ (UTC)

Protection level of WP:CFD/W[edit]

Hi Jc37

I have reverted[1] your change[2] to the protection level of WP:CFD/W, pending the outcome of a discussion which I have opened at WT:CFD/W, in which I explained why I think the page should remain fully protected.

Your comments would be welcome. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:25, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

It's been a while[edit]

Hi Jc,

The last time I saw you was when you opposed my RfA, so a

Follow me to join the secret cabal!

Plip!

for that. ;-).

That aside, have you considered running for RfB again? I supported you last time, with a rather hilarious typo, and I would do it again. Other than that, how have things been?—cyberpowerChat:Online 13:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Lol, hi : )
And thank you for the thought : )
I might in the future, but atm, the current ones seem to have things well in hand (especially as some of their responsibilities have moved onto the global stage).
And there are other things I'd want to work on first. For example, I think the winds are changing, and per WP:CCC, I think it's near time to try again for WP:MOD as a user-right package.
And the slow semi-integration of the Wikimedia projects, I've been watching.
I'd also like to get more RL time to help out more here. CFD, and the closures backlog, for just a couple examples.
Anyway, thanks again Cyberpower, and, as always, I welcome friendly notices, so please feel free to drop e a note if you see something you think I might be interested in : ) - jc37 00:32, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
As for me, the opposers at my RfA were right, I have a lot on my plate right now. I'm hard at work developing IABot into the perfect LINKROT combat bot. I might run an RfA again sometime in the future, but not before I finish my big bot project at the very least. :-) I'll see you around. :-)—cyberpowerChat:Offline 05:55, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Moderators/Straw poll[edit]

Consensus seems to be overwhelmingly against. I don't think this is going to go anywhere else in the next 9 days so you may wish to either withdraw it or ask for a premature close from someone who can independently but briefly summarise the reasons why. Besides which, I need your help and eventual collboration on something I'm brewing that's obliquely related ;) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:04, 30 July 2016 (UTC)

An other CfR discussion for US city categories[edit]

There's a new Categories for Renaming discussion going on about categories of US cities listed in the AP Stylebook.
