The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of John Del Rico, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://moviespictures.org/biography/Del_Rico,_John.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) A tag has been placed on John Del Rico requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://moviespictures.org/biography/Del_Rico,_John. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of John Del Rico[edit]

The article John Del Rico has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No clear claim to notability, per WP:ENT. Sources (formatted as external links) are IMDB, don't actually mention Del Rico, or are otherwise unusable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I thought Wikipedia was an oracle of information, facts, etc., similar to the old hard copy encyclopedia's I was fond of as a kid? I created this article using factual information and I tried to create Links to other pages or articles to back up the information! Maybe I just need to improve the article but, I'm not understanding why someone is suggesting to delete my article based on what their opinion of someone's work and/or the level of notoriety they have. In that case you should evaluate every Stand Up comedian you have listed on this site as advertising!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdelrico (talkcontribs) 19:23, 7 December 2015‎
Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia. However, like paper encyclopedias, it has policies and guidelines for determining what should be included. Not everything that's true belongs in an encyclopedia. For establishing notability, which is a goal that must be met for an article to be kept, Wikipedia relies on reliable sources which are independent of the subject. "Reliable" here means having a reputation for accuracy and fact-checking. Many past discussion on Wikipedia have decided that IMDB isn't really a reliable source in most cases. This isn't personal, and I'm sure there are many other articles which should be checked, and there are many, many articles that really are advertising which have slipped through the cracks, but it's impossible for a volunteer effort like this to work on an "all-or-nothing" basis. If you want to help improve some of those other articles (such as John Caparulo), that's great, but that's not really addressing the problems with this article. Wikipedia isn't a good place to write an autobiography (Wikipedia:Autobiography). Grayfell (talk) 22:49, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK well if this article is not up to par re: policies & procedures & IMDB is not considered a good reference, I don't know what else to say or do? Next time I see John Caparulo I'll let him know that for some reason his autobiography stuck on Wikipedia & mine didn't.
When I nominated the article for deletion, I checked to see if there were any other sources, and didn't find anything, but me not finding them doesn't mean they don't exist. Please look at some of the guidelines linked above (mainly WP:ENT and WP:BASIC), and if you feel that you meet those or any other notability guidelines, you can explain why and provide verifiable sources supporting that. The major problem is that none of the sources currently in the article are reliable and independent of you (at least, none of the ones that actually mention you). As a rule of thumb, all sources in a biography of a living person should mention the person by name.
Caparulo's notability is not as well established as it should be at his article, but it's pretty clear from sources the he meets notability guidelines explained at WP:ENT. He was part of several major national tours, he's had multiple named appearances in major TV shows, he's released two albums on a major label (which arguably meets WP:BAND), and he's had his own special on Comedy Central. Grayfell (talk) 00:26, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK thank you, makes sense! I'll do the due diligence & review the notability guidelines to try to explain why I'm notable & provide verifiable sources to support it.
