Discussion with Students, Fall 2009[edit]

This section discusses a collaborative project I'm undertaking with a group of students from IUPUI's Museum Studies program to think about the digital presence of public art collections. We are starting with making Wikipedia articles for every piece of outdoor sculpture on our campus. I am documenting the basics of this process using a blog located at http://publicartweb.tumblr.com.

Just FYI- I've been uploading all the IUPUI sculpture photos I have to Flickr, and there's a 100 MB photo limit per month. (i reached my limit already.) Kpetrole (talk) 18:11, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Kpetrole

That would be a great solution, but honestly, in the end I think it will not be necessary. I mean I've already uploaded about 50 pictures or so on a bunch of different sculptures, and if everyone uploads some more for their own sculptures, I doubt everyone will reach the limit. Meanwhile, I've been thinking that if by chance I have more pictures, I could email them to someone else in the class to upload for me, as a way to beat the Flickr system! Orphaned non-free image File:Thomas Hendricks Scuplture.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Thomas Hendricks Scuplture.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Yes, great job! Let me know if you need any help, including administrator help. I take lots of photographs around eastern Wisconsin, although I rarely get to the Milwaukee area or south. Royalbroil 13:23, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm another cheesehead and Wikipedia admin, but I'm based in Milwaukee (sitting in a UWM lab as I type this); so please feel free to call on me (use my talk page or e-mail me) at any time. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:21, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
There's some pretty obscure public art out there that was created by neighborhood societies and the like; I remember getting off past my stop late one night on the north-bound 80 bus somewhere north of North Avenue but south of Silver Spring, and seeing a small WW1 monument that took up only slightly more space than a lightpole. I've never been able to find it again. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:39, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I watched your interview with interest on the Fox affiliate in Green Bay. Thank you for getting greater exposure to the general population! Let me know if you ever need photographs in parts of eastern Wisconsin which are north of Milwaukee. Royalbroil 03:08, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Blue dress park[edit]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Blue dress park, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.asocialevent.com.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:05, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

I had included a quotation from the artist and cited it. Perhaps it was too lengthy. It's now deleted from the article. Jgmikulay (talk) 16:20, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Campus Embassy[edit]

Hello! Are you still interested in becoming a Wikipedia Teaching Fellow for the Wikipedia in Higher Education program? Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 04:40, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, User:Bob the Wikipedian. Thanks for getting in touch! The various formal and informal roles within the "Wikipedia in Higher Education program" are a little confusing to me. Can you point me to resources to learn about the requirements and expectations for the Teaching Fellowship you mention? I initially listed myself on the Campus Ambassador page because I regularly use development of Wikipedia content in my teaching, and I actively consult with faculty throughout the U.S. on how to integrate the encyclopedia. I also wanted people on my campus to know that they could ask me for help, which has been effective. I would welcome the opportunity to do more, especially in a leadership capacity involving women contributors. Jgmikulay (talk) 13:33, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I can point you toward outreach:Education, which is loaded with teaching resources for the program. Traditionally, one or two trained campus ambassadors will be assigned to assist you in teaching students to use Wikipedia and in helping you design a successful class project. As a regional ambassador, I'm responsible for making sure professors and campus ambassadors in the area meet up and get something planned. The project is integrated into your syllabus for the semester and usually takes the place of a term paper. I'd love to tell you more about our program; if you're still interested then shoot me an email at Special:EmailUser/Bob the Wikipedian and we can schedule a phone interview. Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 02:43, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi. I have responded to a general message about Alverno College from Bob the Wikipedian, who has not yet responded to me. It appears that you do not need a Campus Ambassador as you already have a program up and running; that said, you are welcome to consider my services in your program.- If you want more information you are welcome to use the e-mail channel to me. With best wishes, --Ancheta Wis (talk) 12:36, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Image rescue squadron[edit]

hi, hope your ears weren't burning too bad. and hope you don't mind if i follow behind you, and cleanup some of the licenses. i have a little essay on this at User:Slowking4/Image Rescue Squadron. you have set a good example that folks are picking up, in Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Slowking4 †@1₭ 17:41, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

I love the idea of an "image rescue squadron"--very clever, and necessary! I'll be working with a class of college photojournalism students in spring to reshoot and share in a more wiki-friendly way a lot of the Milwaukee sculptures that have improper licenses and uploads. Your experience will be a great resource to that effort. Jgmikulay (talk) 17:58, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
yes, but i anticipate this being attacked as "inclusionist"; as seen in the examples, people persist in deletion, seeking one and then another reason to delete. as i was going along the Milwaukee list, i noticed there were ones with images deleted, and commons images that need to be migrated with "fair use" tag. the freedom of panorama makes me want to move to Amsterdam. the problem with ad hoc consensus here, is that no one wants to implement the housekeeping. btw, here's how i handled an address for a public work: Dickens and Little Nell (Elwell) (in the lede, but not infobox). Slowking4 †@1₭ 17:26, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia user has called for a ban on all moving images![edit]

I thought you and your students would want to know about this discussion going on right now: Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Animated images. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:45, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Orange Mike. Thanks for letting me know about this. It seems that the concern is with animated GIFs rather than videos. One thing I really like about the way videos display in the encyclopedia is that they are still until activated by the user. Did you see one of the student videos featured on Media of the Day over the weekend? Pretty cool! Jgmikulay (talk) 21:52, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:PedestrianDrama2011Zweig.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PedestrianDrama2011Zweig.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:05, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure what's with the template, but your rationale looks fine to me. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:44, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Mike. I had originally, mistakenly, not added the license and made the change after prodding from the bot. I think it's OK now. Jgmikulay (talk) 15:37, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

new photo tags[edit]

hi, love the new articles. fyi, there's a new template that some folks rolled out Template:Photo of art, and a discussion [1]. so stay tuned, the fair use licenses are subject to change. Slowking4 †@1₭ 23:06, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words about my stub spree! I had this idea that I could start 2012 with no more Milwaukee public art articles on my "to do list." Alas, I'm running out of time. And, yes, I have been trying to follow the discussion you cite. At this point, I try to pattern my image uploads on files the bots, zealots, and wanna-be copyright lawyers have already meddled with/"fixed" so hopefully they'll be OK! <knock on wood> Jgmikulay (talk) 23:37, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sky Fence[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Sky Fence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:N. Single Source

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The Tea Leaf - Issue Four[edit]

Hi! Welcome to the fourth issue of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter for the Teahouse!

  • Teahouse pilot wraps up after 13 weeks After being piloted on English Wikipedia starting in February, the Teahouse wrapped up its pilot period on May 27, 2012. We expect this is just the beginning for the Teahouse and hope the project will continue to grow in the months to come!

Thank you and congratulations to all of the community members who participated - and continue to participate!

  • What you've all been waiting for: Teahouse Pilot Report is released! We look forward to your feedback on the methodology and outcomes of this pilot project.
  • ....and if a pilot report wasn't enough, the Teahouse Pilot Metrics Report is out too! Dive into the numbers and survey results to learn about the impact the Teahouse has made on English Wikipedia.
  • Teahouse shows positive impact on new editor retention and engagement
Teahouse button.png
  • 409 new editors participated during the entire pilot period, with about 40 new editors participating in the Teahouse per week.
  • Two weeks after participating, 33% of Teahouse guests are still active on Wikipedia, as opposed to 11% of a similar control group.
  • New editors who participated in the Teahouse edit 10x the number of articles, make 7x more global edits, and 2x as much of their content survives on Wikipedia compared to the control group.
  • Women participate in the Teahouse 28% of Teahouse participants were women, up from 9% of editors on Wikipedia in general, good news for this project which aimed to have impact on the gender gap too - but still lots to be done here!
  • New opportunities await for the Teahouse in phase two as the Teahouse team and Wikipedia community examine ways to improve, scale, and sustain the project. Opportunities for future work include:
  • Automating or semi-automating systems such as invites, metrics and archiving
  • Experimenting with more ways for new editors to discover the Teahouse
  • Building out the social and peer-to-peer aspects further, including exploring ways to make answering questions easier, creating more ways for new editors to help each other and for all participants to acknowledge each other's efforts
  • Growing volunteer capacity, continuing to transfer Teahouse administration tasks to volunteers whenever possible, and looking for new ways to make maintenance and participation easier for everyone.

Thanks for the revert[edit]

on Public Art. I saw the date change and was just starting to look into it when real life intervened. When I got back to it I discovered that you had already done it. And speaking about public art, what do you know (or care?) about the architectural sculpture at Alverno College? (Yes, I peeked at your user page) Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 17:57, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome! I only know a little about the architectural sculpture at Alverno. I recently saw an exhibition of photographs from the college archives which included an image of Adolph Roegner installing the sculpture of St. Francis on the main building. I believe he also did the reliefs that are on the facade of the main building. Is there something specific you'd like me to look into for you? --Jgmikulay (talk) 18:50, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I have Corrado Parducci as being involved. That Adolph Roegner did the St. Francis is interesting - I wonder if he just carved it? I will look into my information and likely be in touch. I am working, on this project ( http://www.archsculptbooks.com/home.htm) and decided to include Alverno and want to get it right. Carptrash (talk) 15:44, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm... Parducci? I will send a message to the college archivist and see if she can verify that. I wish we could have bears on the building instead of religious figures! --Jgmikulay (talk) 15:42, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Well when you do talk to the archivist hell him/her that I will trade "proof" that Parducci did some of the work for a copy of the picture of Roegner. Carptrash (talk) 20:27, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Good idea! I have a mesage in, but it's summer in academia so I hope you're a patient guy. It will be fun to figure this out. --Jgmikulay (talk) 20:30, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

I was in Milwaukee in, i think 1990, when I learned about Roegner. Spent a very memorable few days tracking his work down. I visited Alverno in 2003 and took pictures of some of Parducci/Roegner's work then. I've been after Parducci since 1983 or so. I have corresponded with an archivist at Alverno ten years ago, but she (?) knew nothing about Parducci or Roegner. SO, time has no meaning. Carptrash (talk) 21:04, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Delighted![edit]

As always, delighted to help.

There is not yet, but ought to be, an article on the Iron Workers Memorial (that's the formal name, I understand) at Miller Park, to honor Jerome Starr, Jeffrey Wischer, and William DeGrave, the guys who died while building it (they were Iron Workers Local 8 members).

The coverage I can find is mostly about the disaster, of course, rather than the statue itself.

--Orange Mike | Talk 15:23, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. Believe it or not, I'm working on it. There are articles in the MJS, OnMilwaukee, the Daily Reporter, and Post-Crescent. The story of that sculpture is actually really interesting, and I promise you'll be able to read all about it on Wikipedia soon! --Jgmikulay (talk) 15:40, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue Five[edit]

Stop by for a tasty glass of wiki-iced tea at the Teahouse, today!

Hi! Welcome to the fifth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

  • Guest activity increased in July. Questions are up from an average of 36 per week in June to 43 per week in July, and guest profile creation has also increased. This is likely a result of the automatic invite experiments we started near the end of month, which seeks to lessen the burden on hosts and other volunteer who manually invite editors. During the last week of July, questions doubled in the Teahouse! (But don't let that deter you from inviting editors to the Teahouse, please, there are still lots of new editors who haven't found Teahouse yet.)
  • More Teahouse hosts than ever. We had 12 new hosts sign up to participate at the Teahouse! We now have 35 hosts volunteering at the Teahouse. Feel free to stop by and see them all here.
  • Phase two update: Host sprint. In August, the Teahouse team plans to improve the host experience by developing a simpler new-host creation process, a better way of surfacing active hosts, and a host lounge renovation. Take a look at the plan and weigh in here.
  • New Teahouse guest barnstar is awarded to first recipient: Charlie Inks. Using the Teahouse barnstar designed by Heatherawalls, hosts hajatvrc and Ryan Vesey created the new Teahouse Guest Barnstar. The first recipient is Charlie Inks, for her boldness in asking questions at the Teahouse. Check out the award in action here.
  • Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania! The Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania this past month, where editor retention and interface design was heavily discussed. Sarah and Jonathan presented the Teahouse during the Wikimedia Fellowships panel. Slides can be viewed here. A lunch was also held at Wikimania for Teahouse hosts.

As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!

WikiProject Wisconsin[edit]

Hi-If you could tag them using the WP Wisconsin template it would be greatly appreciated. Any aricles involving Milwaukee have always been tagged. Many thanks for doing this and for your articles-RFD (talk) 23:57, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

New project[edit]

Hey Jenny! I'd love your input on the project I am in the process of starting. If you have time to take a look, especially at the questions on the talk page, that'd be fabulous. And of course, if you are too busy, then I understand - no pressure at all. Thank you! SarahStierch (talk) 21:55, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm reading through the prospectus now--nicely done--and getting worried that you have targeted me to "cross the line." :-) --Jgmikulay (talk) 13:17, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Woodland Pattern Book Center[edit]

A tag has been placed on Woodland Pattern Book Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue Six[edit]

Hi! Welcome to the sixth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

  • Teahouse serves over 700 new editors in six months on Wikipedia! Since February 27, 741 new editors have participated at the Teahouse. The Q&A board and the guest intro pages are more active than ever.
A lovely little teahouse nestled in Germany from Wiki Loves Monuments
  • Automatic invites are doing the trick: 50% more new editors visiting each week. Ever since HostBot's automated invite trial phase began we've seen a boost in new editor participation. Automating a baseline set of invitations also allows Teahouse hosts to focus on serving hot cups of help to guests, instead of spending countless hours inviting.
  • Guests to the Teahouse continue to edit more & interact more with other community members than non-Teahouse guests according to six month metrics. Teahouse guests make more than twice the article edits and edit more talk pages than other new editors.
  • New host process implemented which encourages anyone to get started as a Teahouse host in a few easy steps. Stop by the hosts page and become a Teahouse host today!
  • Host lounge renovations nearing completion. Working closely with Teahouse hosts, we've made some major renovations to the Teahouse Host Lounge - the main hangout and resource space for hosts. Learn more about the improvements here.

As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!

Orphaned non-free media (File:Spirit of commerce.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Spirit of commerce.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. videos made by your classes[edit]

hey... I saw your input in the Ed Program discussion where you mention that you have students create video for Wikipedia articles. I work with Wikipedia at my school too. Im an English teacher but my school is a technological college and Ive been looking for ways to projects other than the straight up writing of articles. Also... I edit the wiki version of the Wikipedia Education newsletter. October just came out today [2] Maybe I can also talk you into writing a short article about your projects as well??? Feel free to contact me by email thelmadatter at hotmail dot com Thelmadatter (talk) 16:52, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Save the sculpture parks![edit]

I stumbled on List of sculpture parks when a noobie messed it up, trying in good faith to add an obscure Wisconsin sculpture park. The article is a sad, sad mess: 1) Lots of the places listed don't even have a red link because whoever added them was so new as not to know how to format the entry 2) Lots and lots of red links 3) Lots of external links, in violation of WP:EL, sometimes combined with 1 or 2.

Could you and others who are more into public art articles take a hand here? It's really a shame in its current condition. A rule that some, but not by any means all, lists adopt, is that an entity doesn't go on the list if there isn't an article about it: one that meets the usual notability, sourcing and verifiabilty rules. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:41, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike! This article is one that I watch, and I can see your point. I'm not sure when the project you propose will make it to the front burner for me. I will try to improve the Wisconsin section at least, probably by also adding articles about the listed parks. --Jgmikulay (talk) 17:12, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

hi, i went and fixed the licenses for these pre-1977 public domain works. you might want to check your old images. i might, but nobody else will. Farmbrough's revenge †@1₭ 15:23, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
OK, but how did you determine that there is no mark on this sculpture? --Jgmikulay (talk) 15:31, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
the SIRIS database dosn't have it in the description [3] (love those smithsonian folks) hard to prove a negative, but it seems to be methodical. Farmbrough's revenge †@1₭ 15:34, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Is your suggestion, then, that for sculptures made between 1923 and 1977 with no mark documented in the SIRIS catalog, to go ahead and "fix" the license as public domain? --Jgmikulay (talk) 15:48, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
yes, i've been doing this on an ad hoc basis, it is uncontroversial; but there is no impetus to clean up, only to tag "fair use" by bot. (and it still might get a DMCA take-down as happened at Clothespin (Oldenburg), don't know if you're following the drama). Farmbrough's revenge †@1₭ 16:01, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
I try to steer clear of the drama, hence my cautious approach. I'm working on re-doing List of public art in Milwaukee to work with the fancy new table system. Would you be willing to take a look at my work in progress and let me know of anything you see that I could improve? I'd love to head off problems before I build this out with all 150+ sculptures. sorry about the delay in feedback. i see Ilona Gonzalez has one license for her photos [4], while Lonibug has two [5], which i believe is correct (one for work, one for derivative photo). love the videos; smallbones has been using a Template:External media, for example A Visit from the Old Mistress. nice photos, are they using tripods? slowkingFarmbrough's revenge †@1₭ 02:58, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lodgepole (sculpture)[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying and pasting its content into Lodgepole (sculpture). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes.

Unfortunately, we will have to temporarily delete the new article you created under speedy deletion criterion G6, so that the page you intended to move may be properly moved in a way that will preserve its edit history. To avoid this problem in the future, please use the "Move" tab at the top of articles in order to re-title them.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 16:56, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

December 2012[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give User:Jgmikulay/WSPA a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Please don't draft any more content here. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 17:02, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:PedestrianDrama2011Zweig.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:PedestrianDrama2011Zweig.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:58, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 11[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Knife Tree, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chrome (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

New WWC[edit]

Hi Jenny! Hope all is well. I wanted to let you know that the WikiWomen's Collaborative has recently underwent renovations to make it visually more attractive and easier to find resources. I'd love for you to be involved - since you are a founding member, of course. You'll find resources about getting involved in blogging, Facebook, and more. I also encourage you make an introduction, which is easy to do with a click of a button. I'm moving back to volunteering at the end of the month, and I really hope the project can continue to thrive and grow with volunteer support. See you there, i hope! Wikimedia LGBT[edit]

I just wanted to bring Wikimedia LGBT, a proposed user group and thematic organization that promotes the development of content on Wikimedia projects which is of interest to LGBT communities, to your attention. I am sure you are so busy with your current projects, but I hope you might be able to direct people to this group if they are interested in LGBT content in any way. Of course, you are also more than welcome to indicate your interest/support, if you wish. Hopefully we can get some LGBT-related GLAM/Education/etc. projects up and running in the near future. ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:51, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

3rd Annual Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon[edit]

Hi Jgmikulay!

We are writing to let you know about the 3rd annual Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, taking place over the weekend of March 4-6, 2016. A large proportion of these events took place at universities, liberal arts colleges, and independent art schools, with groups creating and editing articles around their specific interests and institutional holdings. We are reaching out to see if you would be interested in organizing an event at Alverno College. Thanks to a generous grant from the Wikimedia Foundation, there will be funding available to help satellite events pay for childcare and refreshments. If you would like to learn more, you can reach us at: info@art.plusfeminism.org. We look forward to hearing from you!

All best wishes,

@Siankevans, Failedprojects, and Theredproject:

account creation[edit]

Hello Jgmikulay,

We are cleaning up some unused account creator flags. This flag is for people that need to create lots of accounts for other people on Wikipedia, normally part of the account creation team the education program, or for specific edit-a-thons

You show as inactive for this flag (0 actions in the last year), and it has been removed. If I have overlooked some other pressing need for this flag, please reply on my talk page. Please note, this will have no impact on your ability to edit anything, or create up to 5 new accounts per day for other people. Thank you and happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 22:46, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Here, mothers are...[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Here, mothers are... has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is about a temporary public art exhibit. All the sources are local. It doesn't look like the article meets WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dolotta (talk) 13:27, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Citations are from sources independent of the artists and sponsoring organizations. One of the cited articles is the major newspaper for Milwaukee, and the other cited article is from an important media source for community-based issues and events. I hope the article will not be deleted. Thank you. Jgmikulay (talk) 00:00, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
