Question[edit]

Why are your pages blanked?--JoeCool950 (talk) 17:48, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Joemama993 for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. JPG-GR (talk) 21:09, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please (correctly) sign your comments[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! - JPG-GR (talk) 00:36, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Username Change[edit]

I don't know why you blanked your page, then used a different username. I could have helped, you, or told you what you needed to do, if you wanted to change your username. Blanking your page like that is clearly vandalism. You'll be very very very lucky, if they don't block you. Just letting you know.--JoeCool950 (talk) 05:31, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Username Change[edit]

If you want to change your username to User: JoJo995, go to Wikipedia: change username to change your user name. If you click on the link I have for you, then you'll be able to change to User: JoJo995, or put in a request for it. Expalin why you want to do that and they'll change it for you. Don't just add another username, without requesting a deletion. Now if you want to request a deletion, on Wikipedia: username, there's a link you can paste in, if you want to blank the page, and then have them delete it for someone new to use that username, but don't just blank it again and start a new username. Now if you want them to delete User: JoJo995, then just put the link that you need to paste on there for deletion, and they'll delete User: JoJo995 for you. Now to your question about the program schedule that you don't like it being worded in a prose. That's a rule they have on the radio pages that we must follow. I'll tell you this, but don't pass it on, they don't listen to me either about the radio pages. Just go with the flow, since that's how they want them on the radio pages, then that's how they want them. I'll tell you this, as long as it stays with you on the Television stations, they're not as strict and that kind of stuff seems to be ok on the TV pages like KERO-TV, for example. They haven't said anything about that. Just to let you know. Just make sure word doesn't go out about the television pages, or they will make a fuss over those too. Just thought I'd let you know, as long as you don't tell anyone else about those pages on Wikipedia.--JoeCool950 (talk) 01:43, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Airstaff Issue[edit]

If you still want the pages like that, then go to WP: WPRS and go to the discussion page on there and tell them how you think it would make the radio pages look better having the airstaff like that on the radio pages. But after you do that, don't change it, until everyone agrees with you and makes it official. I'll even add a comment in there. Just wanted to let you know to do that, if you feel so strongly abou that. Just put for the topic, AIRSTAFF, so that they know what you're talking about, and then tell them what you think.--JoeCool950 (talk) 05:42, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Station Ratings[edit]

On the issue with the station ratings, I know your confused about that, but if they say not to put them up, then DON'T. That would be safer. Probably shows favortism toward the radio station or something. That would be safer than putting them up, or putting that into a pose.--JoeCool950 (talk) 05:45, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please Help Me[edit]

{{unblock|I love wikipedia, and I want to keep helping it become better with its radio pages and other things on it. I know that making a multiple account was dumb and something that I should have not attempted, and for that I am sorry, secondly, I am sorry fro reverting the Airstaff section to WYCD back to the "list" form, other than prose. That is just how I think it should look, to me it looks better, but I will restrain myself from making airstaff sections like that. I sicerly apoligize for everything that I ahve done on Wikipdia that was not to anybodys liking, wheteher it was making a page look a way than it was supposed to or for making a diffrent account. As I said at the beginning of this, Wikipedia is great, it is great to edit and learn from and I really want to be part of Wikipedia. I will not disprespect or harm any of the pages again. and for this I do Apoligize.}}

Can we get a statement from the blocking admin here? I read the sockpuppet report, which is mostly moot at this point as this user has fully admitted to having multiple accounts. Looks like a real apology above, and statement that he'll stop the disruptive editing and use of other accounts. I'm inclined to unblock on a zero-tolerance probationary condition, but hesitate to do so without a word from our sponsor. Tan | 39 18:14, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Don't mean to impose on you, but I was wondering if you could rewrite this for me. It's the history for KUZZ. Although, it's word for word about the history of KUZZ, which is considered a copy right violation. Would you be able to rewrite for me, and then the rewritten stuff back to my talk page and I'll edit it and look at it. Thanks. Here's what was previously on KUZZ for the history, which is word for word:

KUZZ History[edit]

Bakersfield has strong historical ties to Country music. Located at the Southern tip of the San Joaquin Valley, agriculture is the city’s second biggest industry. Much of the population is made up of American refugees from the Dust Bowl of Oklahoma and the dry plains of Texas who settled here during and after the Great Depression. The cavernous dance hall, the Rainbow Gardens, was located just south of Bakersfield and was a regular stopping point for touring Country and Western groups like Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. It was in small Bakersfield honky tonks that homegrown future stars like Merle Haggard and Buck Owens honed their craft.

In 1958, radio station KIKK went on the air playing Country and Western music for Bakersfield. In 1960 the call letters were changed to KUZZ. Local Country and Western television star Herb Henson was the station manager. In fact, he effected the call letter change to reflect his own stage moniker, "Cousin" Herb Henson. At that time KUZZ was at 800 on the AM dial as a ‘daytimer,’ a station which was prohibited by the FCC from broadcasting after sundown.

Buck Owens purchased KUZZ from its owners in 1966 at the 800 AM position and a year later purchased the 107.9 frequency, bringing it to Bakersfield from San Clemente. Owens immediately put the FM station on the air as alternative rock station KBBY-FM, programming mainly ‘underground’ rock and roll while Owens continued to play Country and Western music on KUZZ. Station newsletters from the late 60s show that KUZZ broadcast regularly scheduled Farm Reports and an hourly Gospel Moment with everything closing down at sunset.

Following the 1969 demise of Owens’ KBBY-FM, Buck quickly switched the call letters to KZIN-FM, showing its ties to KUZZ-AM and changing the programming to Country and Western. KZIN was a 24-hour signal, which differed from its sister station only slightly by playing more album product and often giving newer artists stronger airplay than KUZZ. The idea of a 24-hour Country AM station was still uppermost in Owens’ mind and, in 1977, plans were finalized to purchase the 970 AM position then occupied by rival Country station KBIS. At the same time, KUZZ’s 800 AM daytime frequency was sold to the Four Square Gospel Church headquartered in Los Angeles. Their plans were to broadcast a Christian format out of Bakersfield.

In January 1977, KUZZ and KZIN-FM officially split on-air at midnight with the song "New Kid In Town" by the Eagles (a rather neat way of signaling that KZIN was now KKXX-FM, an album oriented Rock station). KUZZ was now 24-hours, full-time Country music, which was what company president Buck Owens had wanted all along...or was it?

By the early 1980s, technology had progressed to the point where AM stereo was a reality rather than a dream. Owens began to take a long serious look at possibilities in the Bakersfield market. By 1984 he had increased KUZZ's transmitting power to 5,000 watts and purchased another station's lower dial position from which to broadcast. The station was KAFY (formerly the number one rock station during the 1960s) which, by the early 80’s, was now Country with the very attractive dial position of 550 AM.

Simply stated, the two stations would merely exchange positions on the dial. Not so simply, it was an unprecedented move in broadcasting. The FCC could cite many cases whereby one station had purchased another's dial position, but none that had ever exchanged frequencies. In Bakersfield a concerted promotional effort by KUZZ eased the historic exchange, and the KUZZ listening audience moved down the dial to 550 AM along with the station. In the minds of station personnel, this was an important transition because KUZZ had, since 1978, been occupying the number one spot according to the Arbitron Survey ratings. Rarely out of the top three stations in the market, KUZZ usually alternated with sister station KKXX in the top position. The Bakersfield radio market truly belonged to Buck: two top stations, two extremely popular and winning formats but another major change was on the horizon. AM stereo wasn’t working. The public wasn’t purchasing AM stereo units and, with competitors threatening to bring the Country format to the FM band, Owens answered the challenge in 1988 by replacing KKXX with KUZZ. [1]

KUZZ History[edit]

Let me know if you'd be able to help me rewrite the KUZZ History. Reason why is that it's word for word of the history on the website, which is a copy right violation. Needs to be rewritten. If not, then that's o.k. Need an answer though. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 06:38, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas, if that's okay[edit]

KUZZ History[edit]

I tried to rewrite it, since it can't be copied, but the way I was going to still made it seem like it was copied, so I didn't want to attempt to rewrite it. After you rewrite it, send it to me and I'll read it, before putting it on KUZZ. I'll continue to try to see if I can do it also. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 05:01, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Are you the one that keeps changing the airstaff stuff on WYCD? I wouldn't put that back on there because of WP:NOTDIR just to let you know. I undid what was on there, but I wouldn't put the times on there. Just thought I'd let you know.--JoeCool950 (talk) 05:59, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

KUZZ History[edit]

Looks good. I'll put it on the KUZZ artcle and see if it stays. I'm going to mark where citations should go and see if I can find anything about it on the internet, so that there's no conflict with anyone about it. Hopefully not though.--JoeCool950 (talk) 21:44, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just Need Opinion[edit]

Would you look at the KVMX history and let me know what looks better, having the old KBKO logo in the history, or having it down on the bottom. Let me know. You can revert it back to how it was, if it looks better the other way. Just let me know. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 23:55, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do not, under any circumstances, add any schedules to any radio station pages like you did with the WDTW-FM page per WP:NOT#DIR. If you do and continue to, I will begin marking you for blantant vandalism and see you are blocked. You may have intimidated others to allow you to continue this, but you won't with me. - NeutralHomerTalk • 02:34, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Airstaff Sections[edit]

The reason they were deleted is because they are in clear violation of WP:NOT#DIR...it's a rule, a policy. Live by it. - NeutralHomerTalk • 01:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they can be written in prose, but not as a schedule. If you had read WP:NOT#DIR you would have found that out immediately and wouldn't need someone else to tell you. - NeutralHomerTalk • 23:56, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WDTW[edit]

"other sources include Wikipedia archives and from my own experience with the station. and I don't think I can referance those two." Which is exactly why you shouldn't add the information at all: If there's no way that a secondary source (i.e. NOT you) can verify it, there's no way to tell that you're not just pulling names out of your butt. And even if it were sourced, it would constitute a directory of indiscriminate information; indeed, radio articles are generally discouraged from including past staff members. If any of the staff is notable enough to have his or her own article, then yes, that would be acceptable; otherwise, it's just a big ugly list. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 20:02, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is not a reliable source. It appears to be a personal website with no reputation for accuracy or fact checking (see WP:RS). Even so, I only verified a very small number of names through it. It'd be best just to give up your pursuit; most articles shouldn't have lists anyway, and precedent among other articles is that former personel should be listed only in extreme cases where one particular DJ is individually notable (generally meaning, one who has an article). For instance, if Joe Blow worked at the station, it would be aceptable to say "Joe Blow, a famous disc jockey known for his work in blah blah blah, worked at station XXXX from 19xx-200x." but not a full list; lists are clutter and should be avoided at all costs. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 22:34, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The source you gave only lists three names, not the massive list you are trying to add. Even still the source is not reliable. Let's leave this "former airstaff" section off. I would take them off other pages as well as they aren't referenced and probably fail WP:NOT#DIR as well. - NeutralHomerTalk • 22:44, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One of your edits[edit]

On WVMV, you removed the V98.7 website, although unfortunately that's not the current format anymore, I do think it's helpful to keep the former format's website, so it's acknowledged. Obviously the reason you did it was because the V98.7 website wasn't the current format? Just a piece of advice. 71.96.231.201 (talk) 03:53, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Radio stations[edit]

If you want radio station articles to talk about a station's programming, you need to describe it in sourced detail, more like what's done on CFNY-FM. Just listing the names of personalities who are or have been associated with the station isn't helpful or encyclopedic, because the names don't mean anything to anybody who doesn't already know who those people are.

The audience for a radio station's Wikipedia article is not the guy who lives across the street from you and already listens to the station anyway. Our audience is global. It includes people who live in Singapore and Mombasa and Brisbane, and who have no way of knowing why they should care about the names of individual hosts on a radio station they can't listen to. Which is why plain lists keep getting removed — if you want them to stay, use the section to explain what a station sounds like, and why we should care about who the hosts are. Bearcat (talk) 02:27, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References please[edit]

Hi Joemama - you have been adding details - and sometimes reverting the removal of details - to radio station pages, but there don't appear to be any references. We realy need reliable sources for this information, otherwise there is no way for anyone else to know whether it is all just being made up. Can you please please provide citations for the sources you're using? Cheers, hamiltonstone (talk) 22:58, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WYCD[edit]

Please, no schedule like you did with WYCD and other radio stations. Need to change the airstaff pages on the radio stations you changed. Needs to be in a pose format, like I changed it back to. Thanks. (JoeCool950 (talk) 22:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Check out KDFO page under history. I added the logo for when KSMJ was on 98.5. That's the old Smooth Jazz 98.5 log KSMJ used when they were at 98.5. Figured that might should be up, since we had the old KBKO logo up on KVMX. Also for KVMX, add the 96.5 Kiss FM logo when KKXX was 96.5 Kiss FM. You can check out both pages and let me know if they look good under the history page, and let me know what you think, and if you think that's o.k. Thanks.
