Godzilla has grossed 312 million internationally as of Aug 10th and it will be more after Japan and Ukraine grosses are added from this past weekend. I know for a fact Godzilla earned close to 5 mil this past weekend in Japan.

Interesting...there does seem to be some overlap, but I noticed that the prompt for edit summaries in mobile editing is "Example: fixed typo, added content" so a lot of mobile edits will probably look alike. Dragon Blade, screenings[edit]

Hi, on Dragon Blade I noticed that you updated the box office for the film with The Hollywood Reporter article, which is great. But I noticed that you also put "with 100,581 screenings and 2.1 million attendances" [1], which is from the article, but when you put it in a context like that, it is incorrect. I noticed that in many of these Hollywood Reporter articles, they mentions the screenings and attendances, but these figures are NOT referring to the cumulative screenings and attendances of the film, but it is referring to the 7 days period of box office tracking (you notice that these Hollywood Reporter articles on box office in China comes out every 7 days).

And surely if this film made over 100 million dollars it would've had more than 100,581 screenings and 2 million attendances in its entire run, wouldn't it? So when you update the box office for films in the future, it is probably best to note that these figures for screenings and attendances are not for the entire run of the film. Hey, Josephlalrinhlua786. You've seen me revert you at times while citing MOS:Paragraphs; the part I am referring to is where it states, "Short paragraphs and single sentences generally do not warrant their own subheading." It is usually not good form to create a subheading for one-sentence material, material that is a couple of sentences or material that is otherwise significantly small. Just like the Critical reception section usually does not need to be broken up into Positive reviews and Negative reviews, the Box section usually, or at least often, does not need to be broken up into North America and Outside North America or North America and Other territories. The non-heading text can inform readers what content pertains to "outside North America," like the Cinderella (2015 film) article does. That is why I reverted you here, here and here at that article. If the box office content becomes hefty, like the box office content at the Fifty Shades of Grey (film) article currently is, then it is a good idea to split the content into subsections. Thank you for pointing out my flaws and I will work on that, but u see I'm just following what happened in the page The Avengers and Iron Man 3 and many other articles that has put the day 1 day 2 or even day 3 gross. So if u removed my "hardwork" box office edits in this page, why not remove those edits that includes those grosses from unecessary days? I mean if u don't that would be discrimination and bias right? If point your finger at one editor making a mistake and u clean that out and then there's dozens of other articles having the same mistake but u don't do nothing about u, I mean how it that even justified. I feel like you're the only one whose having problem with it. Look at the cast section, it's so long and stuffy and excessively detailed. And next time please instead of reverting someone else's hardwork, instead try editing or collecting news for the page like eg, the page lacks the news about the controversial Germany cinema boycott and the box office opening impact the Saturday Manny-Paman fight had. Why not add those info rather than minding ur business into someone else's work?. Try adding that Germany cinema boycott, I suggest you to.

Copying = lazy and bad[edit]

Regarding this edit, as we've all presumably learned in grammar school, copying is bad. Please don't copy/paste content like this from sources again. You can include facts like dates and names and titles, but you cannot copy prose without marking it as a quotation, because prose is copyrighted. This is something Wikipedia takes very seriously and can easily result in a block. You've been warned before about copyright violations, I see. Hi Joseph, on at least two occasions I've noticed you changing the Jurassic World budget data to fit what I can only imagine is your preferred POV. Your original edit here was problematic because you seemed to be under the impression that facts are democratically selected. Resubmitting the same data as you did in this edit without any further discussion, and with an insufficient explanation "budget" tends to make you look sneaky, and that you are trying to cater facts to your point of view. Box Office Mojo numbers aren't up to date.[edit]

We don't, which is why we said that. They are obviously the most accurate source for movie revenues (theatrically), but sometimes they are not always up to date. For example, a recent example can be given to The Maze Runner which they forgot to still include the revenue the film earned from it Japan release (around $4+ million according to Deadline.com. And regarding the "International total box office" section, it tends to really vary with other sites such as Deadline.com, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, so it's hard to decide which one is more genuine in terms of total gross. But in terms of domestic gross and worldwide gross, they are the most dependable, they systematically and chronologically lists every record and grosses daily - weekly - monthy. What other site does a very intense scrutiny over movie box office performance other than BOM?

Hi Joseph. I think the problem with edits like this is an unfamiliarity with how Wikipedia works. Firstly, text you write is usually recoverable if somebody else removes it; if you go to the "History" tab on an article, you can click on an older revision that has your text in it. Don't just blindly restore the old version though, that overwrites other editors work and result in sanctions for edit-warring. I would strongly recommend starting a discussion on Talk:Deadpool (film) explaining why you want to make your changes. Calmly say what the issue is with the content and why you prefer your version. Ben Hurr[edit]

The problem with the Ben Hurr page is that it's written using WP:Proseline, or in other words, sentences seemingly are added without concern for the larger picute as a whole. I was not "vandalising" as you put it I was merely trying to make the page easier to read. For instance in the casting section you mention Tom Hiddleson, being considered, mention Morgan Freeman, and then mention that Hiddleson wasn't cast. You also do a similar thing for Olivia Cooke later on in the section. Whereas my edit mentions Hiddleson was considered, not cast and then list who was cast and then move on to the next part.

I'm not the greatest speller, I fully admit that, but I do think I know my way around a Wikipedia article. I think if we work together we can make a great article. --Deathawk (talk) 07:24, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Employees? Forbes Contributors are not employees. If you had bothered to spend five minutes actually reading up on how the Forbes Contributors program works, you would not have made that mistake. Do you understand the difference between an employee and an independent contractor? Do you understand the difference between a blogger who posts directly to the Web with no filter, versus a journalist who submits a story to an editor who has discretion as to hold or run the story? Have you actually ever been an employee, independent contractor, blogger, or journalist? (I am beginning to suspect the answer might be no to all of the above.)

Also, the fact that some other editors are also violating WP policy is no excuse. Either you will bring your edits into compliance or you don't. WP:V is non-negotiable. Hollywood Reporter article has incorrect information[edit]

The Hollywood Reporter article incorrectly says that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire broke the March opening weekend record. ″And it easily bested the $152.2 million debut of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in March 2013 to boast the biggest pre-summer debut in history.″ [8] That is incorrect because that film was released in November of 2013. The record was previously held by the original Hunger Games film in March 2012. Batman v Superman[edit]

The Forbes article actually began as a piece about the abysmal Chinese haul in BO. He then extended it to North America. It was more than an aside or for color. The Forbes author included it as proof of a growing and disturbing trend (i.e. that this film may not have legs and might flop in the long term even if it is cleaning up in the short term -- think films like "The Hulk" or Burton's "Planet of the Apes", both had decent opening weekends but were considered flops by the end of their run,etc.).

As a compromise to avoid an edit war, I will let you keep your in depth edits and summarize mine with different language to respect the broader analysis and data. We don't need to add informations like that unless it has a "commercial analysis" section like Avatar, Titanic, Frozen or Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Yes no doubt it's mentioned China. But if ur aware u came talk about China in the top secrion as any piece of information about the country's box office performance for a particular is written besides its own opening information. I have written box office information in wikipedia for the past 2 years and yes sometimes I do feel that there's a necessity that it should have its own secrion given how it's on pace to become the worlds biggest movie market by 2017 but that's a discussion for some other day. But of u noticed in articles like Transformers: Age of Extinction, Terminator Genisys, Kung Fu Panda 3 Zootopia, I've written the short analysis for the county in their respective section and i did not write them at the top or global section since it would be bias to mention only China or North America at the top. The overall performance at the top is only written on a consensus like "it became a box office bomb" or "... Became a box office blockbuster hit". We don't write specific country's performance. The US and Canada section deals with its subjects. And the rest of the country are dealt in the "Outside North America" section. I reverted back to how it was previously worded for two reasons – firstly, it had been removed previously by another editor, so I assumed that it would have been removed for a good reason; secondly, I was going by the dictionary meaning for "domestic", referring to a single country (in this case, the United States, the country of the film's origin), rather than the box office term which refers to a specific group of countries. Yes I'm sorry that I may have violated Wikipedia’s policy of copy write infringement and it's consequences. This is my public apology and do not wish to repeat the same mistake in my future contribution. It's just I'm too devoted to contribute that I tend to lose focus. For eg, since 2014 I've been editing every tentpole pic’s box office performance. I keep reading dozens of pages and articles every single day that I got caught up. The first year of my contribution (2014) was a year of negligence and for some reason I have adopted and carried on that trait for the last two years now – albeit I'm more aware and reciprocative now. Yes, I did received numerous messages and warnings about violating Wiki’s policy but with each successive warnings, I try to tone down my level of copy-pasting materials. What I mean to say is not that I copy-paste informations just so I could get another warning. Sometimes I am fully aware that I do copy-paste some contents that I wish to truncate or enrich it later on but sometimes it's too late; I get blocked (and there's no one to blame here but me). I perform a bulk of my edits at night due to different time zones. And I mostly jot down informations at night so I could edit more carefully in the morning to suit Wiki’s policy and evade being warned. But most of the times I am too late, by the time it's morning sometimes I forget which lead me to all these blockage and warnings. There are certain other minor reasons too but they're too minute and ridiculous to disclose and discuss.

The other reason why I avoid or neglect such warnings and pay less attention to violating copyright issues is because I am too indulged in editing. I'm telling you, I spend just a fraction of my time in Wikipedia for my talk page or any other talk page for that matter. I hardly upload pictures and so I utilize a bulk of my time in Wiki in writing. So when I finally get the opportunity to edit, I allocate about 99% of my time in writing down informations at the expense of avoiding/forgetting to open my talk page. I didn't realize that these would have serious repercussions. And you will realize that many a times I've been warned for quarreling or trying to pick a fight with other editors. Haha.

At the end of the day, you can't blame my apathetic nature but rather the time constraint and somewhat my negligent trait. I haven't even updated the actual box office numbers for last weekend’s international box office. So when people check those estimates, they'll be reading wrong informations (and Wikipedia is the last place that I want informations to be incorrect and no one is ready to take up such initiatives). And by tomorrow night, estimates will be reported again for domestic as well international box office (have to edit 10+ films every weekend). So please, If you can kindly undo the blockage so I can continue contributing, keeping in mind of course the essential oath that I took and the repercussions that will follow if I violate Wiki’s policy again. Rajan51 how can i disrupt? I spent 3 sleepless night editing content and researching informations from about 100 sources and all you did was come in late at night and barge in to edit things to fit your opinion. I can understand if contribute to the article by cleaning the grammar or correcting details here and there. But I don't get it, you remove all the informations in a bulk, overseeing what you have done with the edits that doesn't need any edits at all and all these at the expense of your bias opinion. Rule that we should use crore? I've scolded dozens of Chinese editors for using only Chinese currency in their box office grosses. But with this I'm using both currency. You say international? – crore is indian and dollars is for the English speakers. How can we do both millions (rupees) and millions (US). The use of putting both values ₹ and $ in billions is that people all around the World can know the box office gross in international currency and the respective value in the Indian currency. If International readers really want to know what our currency is, it is clear to them that it is the rupee(₹) which is displayed almost everywhere across pages on India and India-related topics. Wikipedia is not a place for advertising to the International community about the Indian place value system.
My main intention was to remove unnecessary pre-release box office estimates and expectations, update reliable sources and change values in crores to millions. But unfortunately whenever I did this you reverted them and added even more content, which made it impossible to search for these particular details and revert them again and again. I apologize for that.
I appreciate the fact that you spent a lot of time in trying to get users to get better information, but the problem is that you add a lot of unnecessary things outside the norms for films, which had to be removed. Just because you spent a lot of time and money for contributing to Wikipedia doesn't make it that whatever you do is correct. Everyone makes mistakes and so do you, but the problem with you is that when people like me and Jdcomix correct your mistakes, you are not ready to accept it. Wikipedia is not just about adding content, it is about adding appropriate content for the users who access it. The way the article is right now, I can tell you with 100% surety that it will not get the good article status. Be open to corrections and do not revert them just like that.

The first year of my contribution (2014) was a year of negligence – as aforementioned – and for some reason I have adopted and carried on that trait for the last three years now – albeit I'm more aware and reciprocative now that this is my second major blocking. Yes, I did received numerous messages and warnings about violating Wiki’s policy but with each successive warnings, I try to tone down my level of copy-pasting materials (but to no avail). What I mean to say is not that I copy-paste informations just so I could get another warning. Sometimes I am fully aware that I do copy-paste some contents that I wish to truncate or enrich it later on but sometimes it's too late; I get blocked (and there's no one to blame here but me). I perform a bulk of my edits at night due to different time zones. And I mostly jot down informations at night so I could edit more carefully in the morning to suit Wiki’s policy and evade being warned. But most of the times I am too late, by the time it's morning sometimes I forget which lead me to all these blockage and warnings. There are certain other minor reasons too but they're too minute and ridiculous to disclose and discuss. I think its safe to say that I should be unblocked by now. Because despite even being blocked, I was able to edit dozens of articles (especially the box office section that everyone considers trivial to pay attention to. That's my level of commitment. I mean check Inferno, Trolls and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, I was the one that took the initiative to expand the box office section. Did I violate any wikipedia copyright policy? No (go check it). I have a real problem with your cavalier attitude, Joseph. You lazily submit huge walls of stolen content to articles despite having been blocked for it before. You act like it's not a big deal, you even copy/paste an unblock request from text you wrote earlier, as if it's too much of a burden to have a new set of thoughts. Then you flaunt your ability to evade your block by editing while logged out? I can't even imagine how you think you're helping. I'm peeved by how you have completely overlooked my last statement about how despite being blocked I have (yes) evaded and made few contributions that were free of violating any policy. The whole reason of this blockage was because I simply copy paste existing materials. I don't do that again. Where’s the proof? (humans are always like “believing is seeing” why can’t they be more like “seeing is believing) – the proof are in my edits that I've made while I was block. For once, just for once, concentrate on how I have surpassed that infamous habit of copy-pasting (isn't that the prime reason for this embargo?). Yes I made a few figure mistakes (as pointed out by one of your colleague) because what the company reports, what the box office trackers in those countries reports varies sometimes. Lemme give you an example – the final box office figures for Transformers: Age of Extinction in China is argued between the Paramount Pictures reported $301 million and local data (especially Ent Group’s claim) that rises upto $320 million. Even in the US itself, the opening weekend number was $100 million (according to Paramount) while Rentrak (now comcast) reported $97 million. The other problem is in the UK, The Guardians figures are always different from what studios’ claim. Moreover, this is also similar with other markets like Japan, Korea, Italy, Germany and India and many other. But in all cases, I meticulously jot all figures from both local claims to studio reported. Who does that? I joined Wikipedia from 2014 and ever since my first edit in Age of Extinction I have followed this trend. You can go and check. Because I don't wanna be bias (which administrator admires this effort in wiki? NO ONE). Prior to 2014, all those opening and overall grosses for Hollywood movies in China are basically chosen from either studio reports of local claims (no consensus derived here). Any administrator cares on eliminating this so readers don't swallow incorrect infos? No ONE. I feel like sometimes Wikipedia is more like the UN Security Council (and General Assembly) that has been so politicized and merciless and should be more like the four main specialized agencies. I have wrote down I won't make the mistake again, proved I haven't for the past month, yet, still blocked. If you have any qualm over my future edits than I tell you what that Father told Superman in Man of Steel – “you have to take the leap of faith and the trust part comes second”. When I say leap of faith it basically means give me a third and final chance. I'm wearing my heart on my sleeves and swallowing my pride saying all these. From my perspective, the leap of faith took place on 21 August 2016 when you were unblocked on the assurance that you wouldn't commit copyright violations. After that, you committed copious copyright violations at M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and in other articles. These are not "mistakes". These are deliberate decisions that have lasting impact on the encyclopedia, and that require cleanup. We do not reward people who evade their blocks by restoring their editing privileges. And frankly, based on how prolific you were with the copyright violations, I can't help but wonder if you were not a WP:PAID editor, which you would have been required to disclose. A person with academic interests is far less likely to take such grotesque shortcuts than someone who has a financial incentive to edit as furiously as he can. I apologize for not minding my own business here, but I recently added the article "Forever Country" to my watchlist and the bulk of it was added by this user. However, after simply spot-checking the sources, quite a few of them have been copied and pasted from the article (and some of them have a few extra words added here and there) without proper referencing. This user must realize that he is plagiarizing from several sources and even violating his indefinite block by continual edits to the article mentioned above. The article I discussed needs so much work to rebuke all of the plagiarism that it seems overwhelming. I truly don't think "its safe to say that [he] should be unblocked". If you fully understand the copyright issues with your past edits and are now ready to edit articles without making the same mistakes again, that's great. You should request an unblock on those grounds. Your decision not to do this - and to instead make block-evading edits without reassuring anyone at Wikipedia that you care about or even understand your past copyright problems - is more than enough reason for your continued IP edits to be reverted per WP:BLOCKEVASION. I have read your email. I do have sympathy with you over your difficulty with staying away from Wikipedia. However, I see that you had been receiving messages informing you about the problems with your editing from the summer of 2012 onwards, but you ignored those warnings for year after year, and just kept creating new accounts. I also see that as recently as last month you were not only evading your block by creating several sockpuppets, but you also lied about dong so, saying "I don't even have a single idea why i'm blocked. I'm being accused of a false sockpuppet puppet or something. I'm new to Wikipedia." Only now that you have found that several of your sockpuppet accounts have been blocked within a very short time have you suddenly come up with the "I'm terribly sorry, and I won't do it again" line. Why should we believe that someone with a history of deliberate deception and lies over a period of nearly five years, continuing right up to a few weeks ago, has suddenly had a change of heart now?

Under the circumstances, I think that the standard offer, allowing you to request an unblock after six months since the last time you edited (including dishonest edits by using sockpuppets) is more than generous enough for you.

Also, you tell me that you once created an account just to apologise, without making any other edits. However, no account that did that is included in the lists of your known sockpuppets, nor can I find the apology edit you made in the editing history of the talk page where you said you put it, nor can I find any record of a block on an account fitting your description in the block log of the administrator who you said blocked that sockpuppet. If you do request an unblock six months or more after your last sockpuppetry, please state what the user name of that account was, as it is not very likely that you will be unblocked as long as it is known that there are still one or more sockpuppets that you haven't revealed the identity of.

One more point. Unless there are special reasons which make it reasonable to make an exception, any unblock request should be made from your original account. I have read the abusive email you sent me recently. I will not waste time responding to all the nonsense you posted in it, but I will respond to just one point. For some reason you think that I accused you of lying about creating an account for the purpose of apologising. In fact, I never accused you of lying about that.
