Unblock[edit]

I'm trying to log in to Wikipedia and edit pages from my work computer at the UK Government's Department of Health and I'm receiving error messages saying that the IP address has been blocked. I was told to past the following text into the user talk page

Yes check.svg

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock of 20.138.246.89 lifted or expired.

Request handled by: Spellcast (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Hope you can help with this

Jpmaytum (talk) 10:05, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I've forwarded your request to the open proxy checkers. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 11:01, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

A port scan showed filtered ports and I could find nothing from Google and RBLs to suggest this could be an open proxy. It's been over a year since the block and that should be long enough for this IP to be secure again. Spellcast (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Lakanal House fire[edit]

Hi, nice to see you expanding the article, but do you have a reference for the info about the layout of the flats? Mjroots (talk) 13:09, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

This source states that the windows had been replaced in uPVC, which the council denies. What do you think? Mjroots (talk) 14:55, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Quoted a guy who was just plain wrong. I've spoken to council officers who confirmed the windows were metal. Also PVC windows don't melt - they degrade (ie break down and turn to nothing). I've referenced the technical expert

Jpmaytum (talk) 15:01, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

From the source After visiting the scene on 6 July, he said: "All the facades and window frames were replaced with flammable uPVC which melts in fire, releasing toxic fumes." This is best discussed on the article's talk page, where I have raised a couple of points. Mjroots (talk) 15:47, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

That was my response to your question asked here. I'm happy to replicate it on the talk page if you think that would be helpful. Jpmaytum (talk) 15:56, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, please do. It would give other editors a view of both sides of the coin, so to speak. Mjroots (talk) 16:24, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Retrieval date must be wrong[edit]

Brecht[edit]

Thanks for working your work on the article. If you know anything about his work, could you simplify and reduce the intro a bit. I often try and give up. It's a hopeless mess but I can't see if the info in it is echoed elsewhere in the article. Any rationalisation (moving down of text) if you know something of his work, is appreciated. Just a thought. Best wishes Span (talk) 13:10, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments. I have no specialist knowledge in this area but I do know a little bit about editing. I hope you find my efforts helpful. I've put a fuller description on the articles discussion page, but grateful for your thoughts.

Disambiguation link notification for January 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page King George Hospital (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Modernising Scientific Careers[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Modernising Scientific Careers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. DGG ( talk ) 03:19, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Bricklayers' Arms may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Draft:Medworxx[edit]

Help! This page has twice been speedily deleted as being promotional. I agree it's very positive, but I haven't found any negative coverage. In fact the company's press releases are less flattering than the stuff which comes from independent sources. Can you help me - either to make it less promotional, or to defend it as it is? I can't see what else I can do to it. I've removed the material which came from the company's press releases.Rathfelder (talk) 21:20, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Shirley Towers[edit]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Shirley Towers. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Harrow Court fire. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Harrow Court fire. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. RA0808 talkcontribs 16:04, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
