Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Pet do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--Bongwarrior 20:42, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Knife. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--Bongwarrior 20:54, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

External links on articles should be kept to a minimum of encyclopedic resources. It sounds like your website provides a valuable service to its users, but it does not constitute an encyclopedic source. Proposing it on multiple pages is tantamount to spam (even with the best of intentions). Keep in mind, Wikipedia is not a directory of useful links (see WP:NOT). DMOZ or other link directories might be more appropriate for promulgating your link. Let me know if you have any questions. Nposs 23:42, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A further consideration is that Wikipedia is international. Your website gives an American perspective. We should avoid country-specific references to the many topics that are international in nature. 81.105.60.97 16:12, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
