Hi, DoubleGrazing. I appreciate the quick response time to my submitted draft.
I understand the reasoning for the article being declined. I tried to cite as many sources as I could, but due to the Ongezellig's relative obscurity, it's very hard to find sources outside of meme sites, review sites, and YouTube videos.
If there's anything I could do that would increase the chance of the article getting approved, please let me know.
Also: Just wondering, does the fact that I have less than 10 edits on my account have anything to do with the article being declined? I heard some people say you need at least 10 edits to get an article submitted, but others didn't. Thanks. JudahBenJudah (talk) 07:18, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, unfortunately all the sources you cited are either user-generated and/or otherwise not considered reliable. "Obscurity" usually means it won't be possible to create the article, since Wikipedia only summarises what other, reliable and independent sources have previously said, and if such sources don't exist then there is nothing to summarise.
And no, being a new user in no way counts against you; in fact, I didn't even look at your edit history, and didn't realise this until you mentioned it. The ten-edit-requirement is for your account to get the 'autoconfirmed' status, which means you can create articles directly in the main article space without going through this AfC review process. ('Can' doesn't mean it's necessarily a good idea, though, and even then the created articles would be subject to a review process, only the review happens post- rather than pre-publication.)
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:35, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, I guess I'll just have to wait until the series gets more popular to the point where more reliable sources talk about it, because seriously, just Google "Ongezellig" and see what pops up, it's sites like KnowYourMeme, Reddit threads, IMBD and even a fan made wiki itself, there just isn't much out there in terms of good sources.
Anyways, thanks for all your help! JudahBenJudah (talk) 07:49, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PS: I don't know if you're the IP editor who created Draft:Ongezellig on this same subject, but at least you've submitted it for review. Please note that we can only consider one draft on a given subject, and creating multiple drafts serves no purpose but to cause confusion. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:49, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
