No problem, glad to help - Jvhertum 13:35, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Cornelis Corneliszoon Jol[edit]

I am in the process of translating a novel based on this ancestor of mine, written by Jaap Waldenmaaier in the late 1940s. I have tried finding out more about this author without success. Can you help? Many thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Houtebeen (talkcontribs) 09:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC).

Sorry, I can't help you with that. The only piece of info I have to offer is that his last name is spelled Waldenmaier, not Waldermaaier. Regards, Jvhertum 10:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Wonderbra Women[edit]

Thanks for your input on this. Frankly, I created this page to help find a depository for the "wonderbra women" that other wikipedians kept adding to the core Wonderbra article. The earliest versions of the Wonderbra article contained this list but during the FAC process, it was pretty much agreed that this was a bit frivolous and it was eliminated. I'm all ears on ways to better handle it. Since I'm relatively new to wikipedia, I'm not sure if there's another way of creating lists to accommodate the pop-oriented contributions. Mattnad 16:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I do not think the subject is notable enough to warrant its own page, hence the notability tag. IMO it should be merged into Wonderbra and is interesting enough to be mentioned there. If however the consensus is that it is frivolous and should be eliminated, than it certainly should not be moved to its own page but, as is the consensus, eliminated. Regards, - Jvhertum 14:28, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Linear iga[edit]

Thanks for the changes you have made to this article. I would like to have the titlle changed back to Linear IgA though, as noone ever refers to it as Linear Immunoglobulin A and most people looking for it would search for Linear iga, which doesnt bring up the article when searching via an external search engine such as google. Liga girl 11:40, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Liga girl, for page titles I prefer the full, non-abbreviated name. People will still find this article when searching for "Linear IgA", as typing this will automatically redirect to the article. However, I leave it to your discretion. Kind regards, Jvhertum 11:55, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

North Church[edit]

This is idiomatic English; "Northern Church" would not be, and is unnatural. While this is not the sort of point you will find in most dictionaries, see Old South Church (and Paul Revere). Please reconsider your opinion. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 14:33, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Acid house[edit]

Thanks for helping to keep the external links on the acid house article free of spam. I've just posted a note to Talk:Acid house about the situation and hope that you and other editors with an interest in the article will continue to help with it. Cheers, —mjb 17:48, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

No prob, and I've just posted a message on the offending user's talk page. If he continues to spam, stronger measures could be taken. Regards, Jvhertum 15:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

I just left a warning on User talk:121.222.189.102 for a 3RR violation.

WP:RCU[edit]

Hello Jvhertum! I see you've had a problem recently with IP address attacking this page, I seen your recent edit to AIV. This is what was stated there:

Someone is using these various IP addresses to constantly add nonsense to Acid house and Left-Right politics and leave abusive messages ([1], [2], [3], [4]). Ignoring requests and warnings. Please take some action to put a halt to this, e.g. semi-protect Acid house (Left-Right politics had already been protected). Thanks, Jvhertum 12:41, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

We could send them to Wikipedia:Requests for Checkuser. It may help, as they appear to have a never-ending appetite to vandalise the Acid House article. Regards, Rudget Contributions 13:05, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes please, take whatever action you can. Perhaps Acid house should also be semiprotected as I suggested. Thanks! Jvhertum 13:24, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I've filed a request for page protection as suggested, and proposed a two-week covering (as of yet no response has been made). I'll ask another editor about the IP vandalism for now, if they don't reply I'll try to get them all blocked, because it's quite clear there intentions aren't to help Wikipedia. Thanks once again for bringing this to my attention. Regards, Rudget Contributions 13:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Great. You're a star! Jvhertum 14:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Protection of Acid House[edit]

Hi Rudget, you recently semiprotected Acid house at my request, now that the semiprotection period has ended the problem has started again, see [1]. Could you take some action please? Thanks in advance! Jvhertum 12:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello again Jvhertum. I see what you mean, unfortunately I am going to refrain from requesting protection of the page, and I suggest you do the same, as I am certain that the admin who would do the task would like to see more vandalism, i.e. a bigger and more better rationale for requesting protection of the page. Wait to see if there is anymore unconstructive or vandal edits (circa.10 edits) and then ask here, as I'm sure you already know. Regards, Rudget 15:48, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, we'll wait 'n' see! Jvhertum 08:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Bobby Farrell[edit]

I changed the external link to "Interview with Bobby Farrell" like you said; if the video gets deleted from the site for copyvio concerns then we can remove it all together.   jj137 23:10, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, you're a star. Jvhertum (talk) 23:18, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
No problem, and happy holidays!   jj137 23:23, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I removed the external link altogether and alerted USRepublican we couldn't use it. Hopefully this is all settled now. --  jj137 16:48, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
No problem on the assist. He wasn't too happy about it and then left me some wonderful notes of appreciation. The IP got blocked for 48 (I think) hours, so he'll be out of your hair for a little bit. Jauerback (talk) 17:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately we're not supposed to protect pages due to one editor (and he's blocked). Obviously if it starts up again by him or someone else I'll give it a long protection.   jj137 21:22, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, no prob. The block should do the trick for now. Jvhertum (talk) 10:51, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
The IP editor has requested the information be placed back on the page for the time being.   jj137 23:35, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Ceephax /acid house[edit]

Hello, how are you? Hope you are ok. I tried to add Ceephax Acid Crew to the list of acid house musicians on the acid house page. Ceephax is quite notable and sells a lot of records, also he is a wizard on the TB-303 and other old Roland gear. I was just hoping to ask you why you removed it, because the message said that Ceephax is not acid house. I couldn't understand that. With your permission I would like to readd Ceephax. Please let me know what you think. I will come back here to check for your response. Have a great day. Rainbowabc (talk) 15:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Bobby Farrell[edit]

Hi again, if you notice, WP:RSUE is part of WP:V; it covers sources (references). If you noticed, I included the link as an external link (the IP editor was going crazy to get it back in somewhere). I think it's a compromise.   jj137 20:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

You seem to speak Dutch from your userpage. Does he actually say anything about a gay-for-pay or not?   jj137 17:25, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
I do speak Dutch, in fact I am an admin of the Dutch Wikipedia. Could we please move beyond this now? The YouTube clip is not a valid source per WP:RSUE, as I have pointed out repeatedly. Let's please put this discussion to bed. Regards, Jvhertum (talk) 12:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
We're not including it as a source, but simply as a link.   jj137 22:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Canals of Amsterdam[edit]

Hi Jvhertum. I just looked back at the Canals of Amsterdam article and noticed a list of no longer existing canals had been added to the article with a lot of red links. I have moved the list to the talkpage where people can use the information to help build the article, though I have serious doubts about its usefulness and validity in the article itself - especially in its current state. I had a look at the history and noted that you added the list, so you might be interested in having a discussion about my edit as I would assume you'd disagree and would want to put forward some reasons for why the list should be there. Regards SilkTork *YES! 17:30, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

United States of Belgium[edit]

The title of the Map is ...A Most Exact Map of Flanders of Austrian Netherlands. Not sure why you undid my edit.--Buster7 (talk) 23:03, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Because Flanders was part of the Austrian Netherlands. Jvhertum (talk) 09:28, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I apologize for removing comments. It was not intentional and I dont recall what they were. Please let me know so I can retrace my steps. Thank you. As for the Map...I still do not feel it is accurate. I will ask a cartographer for help.--Buster7 (talk) 20:00, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

By the way, I did use proper English. I made an effort to be brief but comprehensive. It is acceptable to exclude prepositions to facilitate brevity.--Buster7 (talk) 05:33, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Bobby Farrell[edit]

I removed the link... I'm still not sure what to do about this in the long run; I was hoping it would "die away" but apparently not any more. :(   jj137 (talk) 02:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Then don't say it's "inappropriate" and don't contradict your own statements which you made on this page earlier, and last but not least formulate your own educated opinion on the matter, rather than satisfying other contributors' flagrantly biased vested interests. USRepublican (talk) 03:59, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Rock Rock Rock[edit]

I am not sure if you revisited rock rock rock. But we both were editing at the same time so I put an inuse tag on for a while. I am still up from last night, and will better cite my song connection. I was loath to put it in the trivia section, but I thought it was germaine to the music section of the article, even if it was not a direct movie connection. go ahead and date the cite tag if you like, but I should have a "reliable third party one in place very quickly, as I continue my Paul Simon as Jerry Landis, and Tom and Jerry documentation project.--K3vin (talk) 10:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Signing warnings[edit]

Issuing warning templates against vandals is useful and appreciated, but you must remember to sign them. This tells other editors exactly when a warning was applied, and it gives the warned editor a clear point of contact if they have a question or apology regarding their edit. --McGeddon (talk) 11:35, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Singel[edit]

Hi, Yes, it is the Singel. This old photograph was taken from the Koningsplein looking toward the Muntplein. On the left you will find the Kalvertoren shopping center nowadays and in the building in the back on the right the McDonalds. The fact that I named the picture AmstelAmsterdamNederland.jpg doesn't mean, that it is the Amstel depicted. --Massimo Catarinella (talk) 16:16, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Where are you seeing this? The link isn't in the template itself, so it's probably being used in the template on a particular article. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:28, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

I cannot reproduce this anymore. I was seeing the spam link on multiple citation templates. The problem must have solved itself :) Jvhertum (talk) 16:05, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Universiteit van Maryland[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Universiteit van Maryland, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Nice work[edit]

A friend just pointed me toward Vrouwekerk--congratulations on that and on the other nice articles you have produced on Dutch topics. If at any time you feel inclined to write on, for instance, any of Annie M.G. Schmidt's books, I'd be much obliged: you have easier access to Dutch sources than I do. I'm trying to fill in some of the blanks in Dutch literature, but it goes slowly. De groeten, en ik hoop dat het nu eindelijk mooi weer is in Amsterdam, Drmies (talk) 20:44, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! I write primarily for the Dutch Wikipedia and Vrouwekerk is a translation of my article there. Will try to make time to write on Annie M.G. Schmidt' work, perhaps Abeltje or Minoes. Take care, Jvhertum (talk) 08:45, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Suggestion: The Vrouwekerk article should be moved to Vrouwekerk, Leiden. As I'm sure you are aware, it is not the only Vrouwekerk in the Netherlands. Mjroots (talk) 19:11, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I am not aware of that. To my knowledge it is the only church with this name. Can you name any examples? Jvhertum (talk) 11:48, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Weather-and-climate.com[edit]

Hallo Jvhertum.

Jan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenmen (talkcontribs) 15:15, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I will answer your query in English for the benefit of other users. The site www.weather-and-climate.com offers no country-wide information, nor does it cite any reliable sources (or any sources whatsoever) for the information it does present. Also, a Whois lookup of www.weather-and-climate.com reveals that it is owned by Jan Commandeur of Vier heemskinderenstraat 44-3, Amsterdam, which I assume to be you. This is in clear violation of Wikipedia's external links policy (WP:EL). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a medium for free promotion of your site. Please stop placing these spam links or I will raise this issue with the admins and seek appropriate action.
Also, the deep house page clear states that the DJs and artists listed should have their own page on Wikipedia, and the ones you added did not. Obviously the artists listed should be noted representatives of the genre, so please do not add your friends and acquaintances. Jvhertum (talk) 15:45, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Aha very clear language! No idea it was forbidden to add a link to a website that is informative. Thanks for the info. By the way the deephouse dj's are not friends, but just really good deephouse dj's. Didn't see that they linked to other pages. Still new at this. :)

Kind regards,

Jenmen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenmen (talkcontribs) 16:12, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Redaktor Wikipedia 600px.png

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:16, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

A Split-Second Defaultsort[edit]

Jvhertum, Last year you made this change :http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=A_Split-Second&action=historysubmit&diff=343316267&oldid=343252107 to the A Split-Second article with the justification that "A is part of the name". This does not appear to be a valid reason to exclude it (The Beatles has a DEFAULTSORT of Beatles despite 'The' being part of the name), your thoughts ? GrahamHardy (talk) 16:52, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm fine with sorting on the "D". Regards, Jvhertum (talk) 19:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Supply reasonable edit summaries[edit]

I was about to warn you that you obliterated the other interwiki links here (after I 'corrected' the edit), but as I reviewed your contributions I noticed you actually just moved the interwiki links from Category:Hindu philosophical concepts to Category:Hindu philosophy. As such I just suggest a more informative edit summary would have saved me from having to undo my 'fix'. November 2011[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Sinterklaas. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. I notice that other editors have requested the same. I recognize that it was simply rearranging paragraphs, but communicating that would be beneficial. Thank you. Hi, thanks for looking at the above page, I agree that the name was not optimal, but your choice only makes disambiguation more difficult. I moved the page again to Grote Kerk, Haarlem. ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from The Night Watch into Kloveniersdoelen, Amsterdam. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:17, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Amstel[edit]

Hey,

Do you plan on creating Hoge Sluis and Berlagebrug?

WhatsUpWorld (talk) 17:51, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I might. The Dutch- (and French-)language Wikipedia already have articles on these bridges. But I think it does not really matter who creates the page, that is not the reason for adding red links to an article. Red links help indicate that a page should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. See further WP:RED.
