The article James Barfield, 12th Baronet of Linlithgow has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Being a baronet is not, of itself notable. The article appears to fail the WP:BIO guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. (talk) 17:35, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You really need to find some reliable sources to verify the information you have been adding here and at Hope Baronets. Why is it that Google Books and Google Scholar return no relevant hits for the search terms Barfield Linlithgow or Barfield Kirkliston? Kenilworth Terrace (talk) 21:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be discouraged if this one gets deleted; but check out:
  • The fundamental policy Verifiability, which includes: "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—whether readers can check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true."
  • The inclusion criterion of Notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. More detail at WP:Notability (people). Note that notability is not inherited - being related to someone notable does not make a person notable.
